Hike to the Lion's Head rock formation

Today, my friends and I made a wonderful hike in the Ropotamo Reserve to get to the rock formation called "Lion's Head".
According to the forecast today, the weather is getting worse and the temperatures are dropping quite a bit, but today we organized ourselves and decided that despite the bad forecast, we will make the trip.

We drove by car to the Black Sea town of Primorsko and our starting point from which we strated was the parking lot next to the Zmeiova kashta dolmen. We had to cross a very muddy meadow to get to the start of the eco trail.

When we entered the forest the walking became very pleasant - moving between the trees and stepping on the carpet of fallen leaves.

We saw unique trees with mosses.

We were finding animal tracks.

Passing through open spaces, we have beautiful views of the Black Sea.

There were large sections of rock in places, and we were happy to veer off the route to explore them.

Like this section on top of which we found a section dug up by the wild pigs that had been digging up the soil in search of tubers and roots.

Soon, hundreds of forest crocs began to appear under our feet.

We also managed to see snowdrops, but there were much fewer of them.

We reached a section overflowing with thorny bushes and rocks covered in beautiful green moss. The rocks were very beautiful, but unfortunately they were quite slippery, so we had to move more carefully.

Along the way you pass beautiful cliffs and some pretty interesting rock formations.

We came to the ruins of a medieval church where there was a stone altar on which icons and coins were placed.

Just a few steps after that took us to incredibly beautiful cliffs with unique views. We were on the Lion's Head and the feeling of being in that place was great.

From the height we had a view of the Ropotamo River.

The rock phenomenon is of volcanic origin and was formed from the syenites of the Rosen Paleovolcano 65-70 million years ago. The favorable climate and topography are the factors that led to the establishment of the city here.

The place where we were is also known by the name of Ranuli or Valchanovo Kale.

The shapes of the stones were truly impressive and we enjoyed walking around and looking.

Our way back was also very pleasant and just as we reached the cars - it started to rain. We was so happy that we made this trip and the weather was on our side.

What a cool place for hiking 🥾🥾🥾 but it seems really cold and not an easy path . Well done
The hike was gorgeous, and the area in the Ropotamo reserve is unique in all seasons 😍
How long did it take them to explore the entire forest and rock area? It seems like a great adventure to do as a group, and best of all, the rocks had fun shapes.
It took us about two hours one way and the adventure was truly unique 😍
