Cold sea meets fresh water - wild beach 🌊 Ustronie Morskie in Poland 🇵🇱

Today we will go to the Polish Baltic Sea. If you are wondering what it is like, I will show you a little in photos. It often has wide, sandy beaches with fine, light sand. The water is cool and not very salty, in winter it can be a few degrees, in summer it is a rather cold sea, it is about 20 degrees. The weather is changeable, often windy and rainy and it can be warm in one day. If someone plans their vacation well in advance and wants to bask on a warm beach, the weather is a lottery :) I invite you for a walk!

Dzisiaj wybierzemy się nad Polskie Morze Bałtyckie. Jak zastanawiasz się jakie jest, to trochę je przedstawię na zdjęciach. Często ma szerokie, piaszczyste plaże z drobnym, jasnym piaskiem. Woda jest chłodna i mało słona, zimą może mieć kilka stopni, latem jest raczej zimnym morzem, ma około 20 stopni. Pogoda jest zmienna, często wietrznie i deszczowy a w ciągu jednego dnia może być ciepło. Jak ktoś planuje z dużym wyprzedzeniem urlop i chce się wygrzewać na ciepłej plaży to pogoda jest loterią :) Zapraszam na spacer!

The walk will be on a rather wild and deserted beach, and I want to take you to an interesting place where the river meets the sea.

Spacer będzie na dość dzikiej i opuszczonej plaży, a chcę Was zaprowadzić to ciekawego miejsca, gdzie rzeka łączy się z morzem.

We leave the forest on a beautiful wooden terrace that connects the road with the seaside beach. I walked through the forest from the nearby town for quite a long time, suddenly the sea emerges, I like this effect :) I wonder what this purple color is that is mixed with the sand, what do you think?

Wychodzimy z lasu na piękny drewniany taras, który łączy drogę z nadmorską plażą. Lasem szedłem od pobliskiego miasteczka dość długo, nagle wyłania się morze, lubię ten efekt :) Zastanawia się czym jest ten fioletowy kolor, który zmieszany jest z piaskiem, co myślisz?

The beaches in Ustronie Morskie are wide and sandy, with light, fine sand closer to the water, and more yellow at the high forest escarpments. You just want to walk barefoot on such a beach, I didn't try it because it was a few degrees, very cold. Characteristic on this walk are high cliffs, where the wind and waves wash away the sandy ground, revealing the tangled roots of trees hanging over the escarpments. The view is amazing - nature itself sculpts the landscape.

Plaże w Ustroniu Morskim są szerokie i piaszczyste, z jasnym, drobnym piaskiem bliżej wody, oraz bardziej żółty przy wysokich skarpach leśnych. Po takiej plaży aż chce się chodzić boso, nie spróbowałem, bo było kilka stopni, bardzo zimno. Charakterystyczne są na tym spacerze wysokie klify, gdzie wiatr i fale podmywają piaszczystą ziemię, odsłaniając splątane korzenie drzew wiszących nad skarpami. Widok jest niesamowity – natura sama rzeźbi krajobraz.

Walking further I met fishermen who were fishing with a spinner (an artificial, small, shiny fish). It looked more like a hobby, because their buckets were empty, they hadn't caught anything even an hour later when I returned. It looked interesting how they were wading in the water :)

Idąc dalej spotkałem rybaków, którzy łowili na błystkę (sztuczną, małą, błyszczącą rybę). Wyglądało to raczej na hobby, ponieważ ich wiadra były puste, nic nie mieli złowione nawet po godzinie jak wracałem. Ciekawie to wyglądało, jak brodzili sobie w wodzie :)

In places you can also find a beach with sand and a lot of small pebbles. There are really a lot of them and they are very different. They have beautiful colors, shades and shapes. Water was constantly splashing against them, such freshly filled with water look the best, they shine as if varnished, emphasizing their beauty.

Można miejscami też spotkać plażę z piaskiem oraz z dużą ilością małych kamyków. Jest ich naprawdę dużo i to bardzo różnych. Mają piękne kolory, odcienie i kształty. Cały czas woda pluskała sobie o nie, takie świeżo zalane wodą wyglądają najlepiej, błyszczą się niczym lakierowane, podkreślając ich piękno.

We are approaching our destination. I go a little further into the beach to see the river and the bridge up close. The crooked trees look beautiful, which probably grow like that because of frequent washing by water and strong winds. There are also boards with descriptions of the animals and plants surrounding us.

Zbliżamy się do celu podróży. Wychodzę trochę w głąb plaży, żeby zobaczyć z bliska rzekę oraz most. Pięknie wyglądają krzywo rosnące drzewa, które pewnie tak rosną przez częste podmywanie wodą oraz duże wiatry. Są tutaj też tablice z opisem, jakie zwierzęta i rośliny nas otaczają.

We have reached our destination! This is where fresh water mixes with salt water - flowing into the sea. When fresh water from rivers flows into the salty Baltic Sea, a so-called estuary is created, i.e. an area where two different water environments mix. Fresh water is lighter, so it floats on the surface, and the heavier salt water remains deeper. This changes the salinity and temperature of the water, which has a big impact on the nearby fauna and flora.

Dotarliśmy do celu! To tutaj słodka woda miesza się z słoną - wpływając do morza. Gdy słodka woda z rzek wpływa do słonego Bałtyku, tworzy się tzw. estuarium, czyli obszar mieszania się dwóch różnych środowisk wodnych. Słodka woda jest lżejsza, więc unosi się na powierzchni, a cięższa słona woda pozostaje głębiej. To zmienia zasolenie i temperaturę wody, co ma duży wpływ na pobliską faunę i florę.

In this area, there is a mixture of different fish that like such different environments, you can meet zander or pike swimming in the sea :) Specific conditions for plants are also created, e.g. algae and reeds growing on the border of waters. A lot of plankton gathers in such places, which attracts fish and water birds (which you saw on the educational boards above). It is a dynamic ecosystem that is constantly changing under the influence of currents, the amount of fresh water from the river and the weather. I learned that fishermen here can come across really large specimens of freshwater fish, which is why they patiently wait for super mega big catches.

W tej okolicy robi się mieszanka różnych ryb które lubią takie różne środowisko, można tu spotkać sandacz czy szczupak pływającego w morzu :) Powstają też specyficzne warunki dla roślin, np. glony i trzciny rosnące na pograniczu wód. W takich miejscach gromadzi się dużo planktonu, co przyciąga ryby i ptaki wodne (które widzieliście na powyższych tablicach edukacyjnych). To dynamiczny ekosystem, który ciągle się zmienia pod wpływem prądów, ilości słodkiej wody z rzeki oraz pogody. Dowiedziałem się, że rybacy tutaj mogą trafić na naprawdę duże okazy słodkowodnych ryb, dlatego cierpliwie sobie czekają na super mega wielkie zdobycze.
