Weekend Wandering: An Iloilo Adventure Full of Heritage, Coffee, and Party Vibes
Last weekend, my friends and I packed our bags and flew to the City of Love—Iloilo—for a quick getaway filled with chill moments, cultural discoveries, and just the right amount of nightlife sparkle. It was a much-needed break from the usual, and Iloilo truly didn’t disappoint.
We booked our first stay at Citadines Amigo Iloilo, and it was the perfect starting point for our adventure. The amenities were on point—from the inviting swimming pool to the well-equipped gym, everything we needed to relax or re-energize was right there. The staff was warm and accommodating, making the experience even more pleasant.
What struck us the most, though, was Iloilo’s rich heritage. As we strolled through the streets, it felt like we were transported back in time. The old colonial buildings, vintage lamp posts, and cobbled walkways told stories of a city that honors its history. Every corner had charm and character, reminding us how deeply rooted Iloilo is in Filipino culture and tradition.
On our first day, after settling in, we had lunch at Festive Walk Mall—a modern contrast to the city’s heritage vibe. Then we headed to our first of many caffeine stops: Coffee Break. The cozy ambiance, strong brews, and affordable prices were the perfect trio to kickstart our weekend. It instantly became one of our favorite spots.
We kept the night low-key as we had just arrived, choosing to rest at the hotel to recharge for the days ahead.
On our second night, we turned up the energy and hit The Cave—a nightlife gem in Iloilo! We danced the night away, laughed until our cheeks hurt, and sipped on Amaretto Sours until the sun almost came up. Let’s just say, we had a blast partying until dawn. Iloilo knows how to party if you know where to go.
The following morning, despite barely catching enough sleep, we still made time for coffee (because priorities!). We visited Coffee Break Metro, and once again, we were impressed. Their coffee is not just good—it’s surprisingly great, and the prices won’t hurt your wallet either.
By midday, we made our way to Venezia Hotel in Jaro for the second leg of our trip. The vibe in Jaro is a bit quieter and more local, but still full of charm. We had dinner at Agatona 1927, a gorgeous museum café (which deserves its own blog post—trust me!), and capped off the night with a stroll at Jaro Plaza, where the soft night lights and historical surroundings made it all feel dreamlike.
On our final day, we woke up extra early to catch the ferry to Guimaras—but that’s a whole other adventure I’ll be blogging about soon.
In just one weekend, Iloilo showed us its soulful side, its vibrant nightlife, and its comforting flavors. Whether you’re a heritage enthusiast, a coffee lover, or someone just looking to unwind—Iloilo is worth the trip. 💛✨
Stay tuned for my separate posts on Agatona Café and our Guimaras exploration!
