The GrazAndSeek Challenge - Enjoying Graz fun online

Managed to grab the second spot online

The GrazAndSeek scavenger hunt was organized by the @worldmappin team for the big Hive meetup event - "Hive Creator Days" in Graz and was announced in this post. This caught my attention and just reading through the announcement post created some level of curiosity in me to learn something new - Scavenger Hunt based on QR codes, as I never heard about it earlier. So first I spent some time to understand the concept at a high level - Internet does have plenty of information.

The team did a great job of providing almost straight clues but then they missed to mention one thing in the announcement post - that this contains the QR code only for the for the first riddle and other riddles will be posted, in about every two days, to allow more participation from the community.

So the first one was the most difficult (not for me though), but it gives a direct clue, so did not take much time for me. But hey, where do I hunt these next 4 QR codes ? I have a notebook and a UV flashlight now with me😉

GrazAndSeek is a scavenger hunt, where QR plaques hide in Graz’s shadowy corners and fleeting Snap posts drip digital breadcrumbs to the sharp-eyed.

Solve the Gatekeeper puzzle to open the game, then tear through four escalating riddles. Some engraved in iron downtown, others flashing in Snaps. When you are successful, you end up on the leaderboard.

And that is where I got a panic attack - the moment we see some puzzling statement about a puzzle , our brain tries to become an AI agent as if it can solve all the problems of the world. Are they pointing to Snaps where the other four QR codes are hidden ? Since it was a weekend I decided to dedicate the time for this alone and started hunting the QR codes in Snaps. In the mean time, I sought clarification from the team on the same announcement post. Some other people were getting crazy to solve the first one and probably for that reason the team even added a more hints section at the bottom of the announcement post, but that was not for me, as I already passed that. I was hunting the other QR codes like a Pro in Snaps trying all sort of logic that my brain AI came up - still nothing in 4 hours. That is when the team came back clarifying that the announcement post was only for the first riddle - Seriously !!! Ya, we have probably made it more clear on stage. I missed that part, even though I did watch the live stream for some time. I asked them to call me out, when they have the next riddle and they did that - a true community level engagement.

Today they came up with the Continuation post, in which they revealed all the other four riddles. I liked the fact that they continuously tagged me before and after the post. Today being a working day I have busy schedules, but I could not kill my enthusiasm for this reason alone, so I decided to dedicate some time but it was much faster to solve it all.

It feels so happy after being placed as the second online entry in the Leaderboard - the level of engagement did matter the most. Anyone else still trying to solve ? Feel free to ask me, I am sure, it will be a nice experience.

Thank you @worldmappin team for adding this extra fun to the big event, I did not realize, I have added 50 pins already. This is one of the project on hive that I love and believe has huge potential.

The truth is that it is something new, a treasure hunt all through QR codes, an innovation that allows users like us without much economic power to participate.

I have very little idea about this challenge. But it is definitely a very interesting challenge. I need to learn more about it. It is really amazing.

I found the first puzzle, but after entering the username there, the login to the hive keychain app is not coming on the mobile.

Honestly, if it's true, it could have even more potential to reach more users from all over the world in a short time. Greetings and congratulations on your second place.

AHAHAHA I really enjoyed reading your anecdote about how you came to solve the puzzles. Congratulations on your attentiveness, anticipation and eagerness to play! I'm glad you didn't give up so soon, many have done it hahahaha.

The idea of the riddles is that they are not completely simple, otherwise, the competition would not make much sense, we had to leave some things open to interpretation, even the lack of QRs in the digital tournament, because we must keep the mystery hahaha.

I'm really glad you participated taking it so seriously, I also wanted to thank you for watching the live stream, it is very important for us to have the support of each user.

We hope that luck will continue to accompany you for the final draw 💪 I just wanted to comment a little something as a curation: Remember that the community has rules that must be followed, it wouldn't be bad to include a pin.
