Visit to the sanctuary of Nossa Senhora da Graça - Portugal

Hello everyone, I hope you are all well 😃 Today I'm here to show you a little bit and talk about the Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora da Graça, which is located in Mondim de Bastos, in the north of Portugal. Portugal has many beautiful places that we can and should visit and the landscapes are breathtaking.

I went to visit this sanctuary because the place where I went on holiday in Mondim de Bastos doesn't have much to see, it's more of a place to explore nature and relax. We went to the city centre and saw that there was a tourist shop there, so we went to see what we could visit. I had also seen this beautiful sanctuary on the internet and many Portuguese people go there. The man at the tourist shop said that the sanctuary is a must-see and recommended that we go at sunset, but this time we didn't go, but instead we went for a walk 😃

The day was incredible, very sunny ☀️ Tito had to climb a little, because the parking lot is a little below the sanctuaries, but it's not very difficult either, it's a winding ramp but not very big and it's in perfect condition

The sanctuary is not very big, but it is incredibly beautiful. That place takes huge pilgrims there. We sat on a bench and observed those wonderful sanctuaries until a very friendly man passed by who greeted us and asked if we had come from far away. We replied that we had not come from far away, more or less an hour and a half from home, but that was the place we had chosen to spend our holidays and we decided to go there to the sanctuary. He immediately said that we had done very well, he told us that lots of people went there to ask and thank us. The gentleman said he went there every year, even now at 80 years old his legs are no longer helping but he goes there slowly.

That gentleman managed to move us a little, he said that there was a pilgrimage to Our Lady of Graces and that it always took place on the last weekend of August. He says that there are many people who climb the entire hill barefoot and that these are promises they make. I went up the hill and we left the car there and went up a bit But the hill is too big and I certainly couldn't climb it. It requires a lot of physical effort He said that many people came because of faith, others even because of tradition.

Inside the sanctuary everything was very simple, I saw several people on their knees praying, others just sitting on the bench watching. I couldn't take many photos inside the church.

Interestingly, I met another gentleman there who also approached us and started asking if we knew the legend of Our Lady of Grace. We answered no, but that we would love to know. He told us that the image of Our Lady of Grace was found by shepherds in a nearby cave and that every time they took it to the valley, it mysteriously returned to the mountain. He said that was how it was planned to be built, on the site where it was wanted to be.

Olá a todos, espero que estejam bem 😃 Hoje estou aqui para mostrar um pouquinho e falar sobre o Santuário de Nossa Senhora da Graça, que fica em Mondim de Bastos, no norte de Portugal. Portugal tem muitos lugares lindos que podemos e devemos visitar e as paisagens são de tirar o fôlego.

Fui visitar este santuário porque o local onde passei férias em Mondim de Bastos não tem muito para ver, é mais um local para explorar a natureza e relaxar. Fomos ao centro da cidade e vimos que havia uma loja de turismo lá, então fomos ver o que podíamos visitar. Eu também tinha visto este lindo santuário na internet e muitos portugueses vão lá. O homem da loja de turismo disse que o santuário é imperdível e recomendou que fôssemos ao pôr do sol, mas desta vez não fomos, mas sim para dar um passeio 😃

O dia estava incrível, muito sol ☀️ O Tito teve que subir um pouco, pois o estacionamento fica um pouco abaixo dos santuários, mas também não é muito difícil, é uma rampa sinuosa mas não muito grande e está em perfeitas condições

O santuário não é muito grande, mas é incrivelmente bonito. Aquele lugar recebe grandes peregrinos. Sentámo-nos num banco e observámos aqueles santuários maravilhosos até que um homem muito simpático passou por nós, cumprimentou-nos e perguntou se tínhamos vindo de longe. Respondemos que não tínhamos vindo de muito longe, mais ou menos uma hora e meia de casa, mas que aquele era o local que tínhamos escolhido para passar férias e decidimos ir até lá, ao santuário. Disse logo que nos tínhamos saído muito bem, contou-nos que muitas pessoas foram lá perguntar e agradecer-nos. O senhor disse que ia lá todos os anos, mesmo agora, com 80 anos, as pernas já não ajudam, mas vai devagar.

Aquele senhor conseguiu comover-nos um pouco, disse que havia uma peregrinação a Nossa Senhora das Graças e que ela se realizava sempre no último fim de semana de agosto. Diz que há muitas pessoas que sobem o monte todo descalças e que são promessas que fazem. Subi o monte e deixámos lá o carro e subimos um pouco Mas a colina é muito grande e eu certamente não conseguiria escalá-la. Requer muito esforço físico Disse que muitas pessoas vieram por causa da fé, outras até por causa da tradição.

Dentro do santuário tudo era muito simples, vi várias pessoas de joelhos a rezar, outras apenas sentadas no banco a observar. Não consegui tirar muitas fotografias dentro da igreja.

Curiosamente, encontrei lá um outro senhor que também se aproximou de nós e começou a perguntar se conhecíamos a lenda de Nossa Senhora das Graças. Respondemos que não, mas que gostaríamos de saber. Contou-nos que a imagem de Nossa Senhora das Graças foi encontrada por pastores numa gruta próxima e que cada vez que a levavam para o vale, ela regressava misteriosamente à montanha. Disse que era assim que estava previsto ser construído, no local onde era desejado.
