❄️🌄 When SUNRISE AND SUNSET are only 5 HOURS apart in the FAR NORTH during WINTER ❄️ ~ on 1 December 2024

avatar
(Edited)

Today it is 1 December… 🥳 you must think; already… 😁 crazy, right? how fast time flies lately. Where I live in the far far… far north… on 64 parallel North to be precise, it has already been winter since the FIRST of November with loads of snow ☃️ and very cold days. As you must have noticed in my recent posts. 😉 Snow will stay until June here 😎
Today we had a stunning #SUNRISE and just 5 hours later also a stunning #SUNSET 🌄 I just wanted to share them with you. So come along and check them out… I also include some extra photographs from today in the garden 😊

In @worldmappin ’s last post I read : Winter is coming 🥶🥶🥶 - and with it the Worldmappin Winter Challenge 🥳🥳 a perfect time this month to join in, in the #WINTERCHALLENGE during DECEMBER 2024 ☃️❄️
Are you joining in too?

Today’s selection will be of 14 PHOTOGRAPHS
Date : 1 DECEMBER 2024.
The Photographs in this post are all taken with my iPhone 📱🤓
I will follow the time stamps on them. So it looks like you are experiencing my #adventures, to 💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻 #discover everything what I saw, like the little #details seen through my eyes.

So this morning I captured the sunrise around 10:10h.
The first photo above (thumbnail) has some more details in it. If you look closely you see the #mist / #fog over the #lake in the #valley 🏔️

Walking past the bird tree… Mr. #WOODPECKER came to visit. He had breakfast on some peanuts 🥜

I tried not to move as he would had flown away instantly… so I captured these photos from a few meters away on the other side of our driveway.

The light this morning was amazing… still the glow of the sunrise was visible around me.

The fog was sliding along the valley and was reaching higher grounds at 11:34h

I was outside as we shovelled more paths around the garden after yesterdays #snowfall ❄️❄️☃️☃️

Even though the temperature was 4 degrees Celsius today… it didn't defrost much as you can see on the trees. They still have a layer of ice / frost around them from the night time. 🥶

In the bird tree… there are still some berries left… they melted in the sun rays ☀️ as you can see on the drips 💧

At 13:49 you can see a thicker mist was rolling in. It covered the mountains in the distance. (It is surrounding me fully now at 15:30h in the darkness)

I was inside all nice and warm until I glanced outside. I suddenly saw the SUNSET from today.
It was stunning! I didn’t expect much of it with the mist. But all turned pink and yellow and red 🌄 such stunning colours.

The moody fog makes for such a subtle SUNSET 🥰

I tried to capture all the pink colours as I know it wont last long.

At 14:42 these are the last moments of the SUNSET 🌄

Don't you agree… I just had to share these photographs with today 😁

…and here I say that’s all for today’s post my friends.
Join me next time for more #updates, #adventures, #stories and #photographs 😎👋🏻
Even my own #artworks, once in a while, will come by” 🎨
Thank you so much for looking, and reading.

The colors of the sun bets on the sky look amazing so much that they look like a painted canvas, the pines that accompany the landscape are a beautiful detail of nature.

Such a lovely way to see the full daylight cycle, littlebee

Just by looking at those pictures, I felt a little bit colder then I was before! In Portugal the temperatures, are slowly coming down... But I can say that in Friday the maximum temperature that I've got in my car thermometer was a amazing 21º C!!
I've listen that during the end of the next week, temperatures about to lower much more, and finally we will enter in "winter time". With the progression of my age, I confess that I love to see the weather changing outside... It feels good to be indoors sometimes, with a warm blanket on your legs... and reading a good book, or watching a good movie, right?

Thank you so much @xrayman 🤗

Hahaha I can imagine you feeling a bit colder after seeing all the snow here. Wednesday it will go to -12 🥶 hahaha truly cold ☃️

I remember my 5 years in southern Spain. When it cools down. It got really cold… but like you say. Snuggling up on the sofa with a blanket and a good book or movie… maybe a hot chocolate does do the trick.
Wow, 21 degrees still. That’s rather warm for the time.
Hope it doesn’t get too cold and you can be warm inside. My apartments/ houses didnkt keep me warm in Spain.

Keep warm and have a fantastic December 😊

Gorgeous place you live in from dawn to dusk, short days for you once again simply most delightful for me to witness through your lens being mid-summer in the South.

Uplifting my spirit seeing such beauty, as for your woodpecker a handsome little fella is he!

Still need more snow for that ☃️
I wanted to build last month a snowman and snow animals, but the snow is tooooo light and fluffy. It doesn’t stick / hold even a snowball form. Not sure how I would modify it to get it to stick. Will have to look into it 😎

gooood. One time I was in Iceland for some weeks in winter.. Nature was magical but I couldn't enjoy really cause of the cold!! it was just toooo cold ahhaha I don't know how you can survive that.

I can imagine… Iceland has also warmer months to visit. Maybe someday to see it without the brutal cold.
I also don’t know yet, still getting used to it since February. It is a different way of life. You can’t just walk outside. Let alone when it is dark and cold 🥶 with animals around in the forests.
I live 1 hour drive from the first bigger village. So a bit remote. It is beautiful though.

It sure has but without the northern lights. - I wanted to see them but just got lucky like 5 minutes 😂😂
Oh that sounds awesome @littlebee4!!! That´s the dream to spend so much time on a nice remote place!

Oh that’s a shame. I have so far only seen them twice.
One time very briefly and hardly showing. And a few weeks ago. Those were awesome.
Most of the time we have cloud coverage here. So when half of europe could see them, I couldn’t hahaha 🤣

It is just like a dream, I am very grateful for the time I can spend here.
Have a good evening 😘

I keep my eyes open for them each evening.
Thanks 😊

Sunrise at 10 is amazing, am used to Sunrise between 6-7am.

Very beautiful out there, the berry shot is epic 👌.

Must be very cold 🥶 there.
Keep warm.

It is strange that it is so late now. In the summer the sun never goes down. The times it changes is crazy fast.

Thank you so much Joe
It was windy so the berry shot was rather difficult to get one in focus. Hahaha 🤣

Wednesday we hit -12 bbbrrrrrr 🥶
Will do my best to keep warm.

Have a fantastic new month 👋🏻

Seems like you forgot to pin this to the map, my friend! 😆

Hello! Thank you very much for posting on the Worldmappin Community. We would like to remind you that one of the rules of our community is to pin your post to our map. This will give your post more reach, as well as have the chance to be featured in our daily Travel Digest 😃.

Quick guide on how to do it.

1 - Go to https://worldmappin.com

2 - Find the location of your publication on the map, you can do this by scrolling on the map or using the search bar.

3 - Click on the GET CODE button and then click on the exact location of your publication: a code snippet will be generated.

4 - Copy the code and paste it into the draft of your Hive post. Then publish it :)

The code will be invisible in your post, but a few minutes after publishing you will receive a comment informing you that your post has been added to the map.

Or you can directly pin your post to the map via PeakD. After drafting your post, click the map icon at the bottom. It's beside "Short preview description" and above the "Advanced" icon.

We suggest you read all the rules of our community here.

For any other questions, don't hesitate to contact our team on our Discord channel.

Cheers!

Yes, the winter snowpack season. Hope you've got your snowshoes ready!
It was beautiful when we were up there, but we are glad to be warm now.

Went swimming yesterday, was quite nice. No arctic plunge required!

We started to take extra vitamins now we have so little daylight. People do need light.
