When the fact that I would be returning home after so much time in Ushuaia finally became clear, I started taking advantage of every free moment I had to go somewhere. My last few days in the city at the end of the world were quite sentimental, but I didn't want them to be sad, so I made sure to continue collecting good memories. After six months there, I had managed to make several somewhat stable friends, so it was with them that I spent my last time, exploring the landscapes I soon knew I would miss ❤️.

Cuando finalmente se concretó el hecho de que volvería a mi casa después de tanto tiempo en Ushuaia, empecé a aprovechar cada rato libre que tenía para ir a algún lado. Mis últimos días en la ciudad del fin del mundo fueron bastante sentimentales, pero no quería que sean tristes, así que me encargué de seguir recolectando buenos momentos. Después de seis meses ahí, había logrado hacer varios amigos algo estables, así que con ellos fue que pasé mi último tiempo, recorriendo los paisajes que pronto sabía que iba a extrañar ❤️.

Almost as if it were a sign that I didn't have to leave, a few days before I was due to return home, I sprained my ankle. An 8km run and a 12km hike in the same day was a lot for my small muscles, and it took its toll later on. That's why I spent those days taking a lot of painkillers every day and was able to walk with great difficulty, even with my foot bandaged and iced regularly.

Casi como si fuera una señal de que no tenía que irme, unos días antes de tener que volver a mi casa me esguincé el tobillo. Una carrera de 8 km y un trekking de 12 km el mismo día fue mucho para mis pequeños músculos y eso me pasó factura luego. Fue por eso que todos esos días los pasé tomando muchos calmantes a diario y podía caminar con mucha dificultad, aún teniendo el pie vendado y usando hielo regularmente.

But even that didn't stop me from enjoying my last few days in Ushuaia, and I still went for leisurely walks. My friends and I took an Uber to Playa Larga, a trip that required a little walking but offered perfect views of the landscape. As always, the weather was very changeable, and although we decided to take the walk when there was some sun, by the time we got to the beach, there was no sign of it. But we were so used to it that we knew this was normal and couldn't stop us from enjoying a good afternoon of "mates".

Pero ni siquiera eso me impidió disfrutar mis últimos días en Ushuaia e igualmente salí a dar paseos tranquilos. Mis amigas y yo nos tomamos un Uber hasta la Playa Larga, un paseo que requería que yo camine poco pero con unas vistas perfectas del paisaje. Como siempre, el clima fue muy cambiante y aunque decidimos hacer el paseo cuando había algo de sol, al llegar a la playa ya no quedaban rastros de esto. Pero estábamos tan acostumbradas que sabíamos que eso era normal y que no podía impedir una buena tarde de mates.

Ushuaia's Playa Larga beach is located at the northern end of the city, bordering the Beagle Channel. It's not a popular tourist spot, except for those adventurous types who want to go to Estancia Túnel and Río Encajonado. If you know how active I am when it comes to hiking, you can safely say that I've visited those places before. Now that I was injured, I couldn't do much, but even that calm was beneficial because it allowed me to enjoy the scenery more calmly.

La Playa Larga de Ushuaia queda en el extremo norte de la ciudad, rodeando el Canal de Beagle. No es una muy visitada por los turistas, salvo para aquellos aventureros que quieren ir hasta la Estancia Túnel y el Río Encajonado. Si saben lo activa que soy yo con las caminatas, podrán asegurar con total tranquilidad que ya visité esos lugares en ocasiones anteriores. Ahora que estaba lesionada no podía hacer mucho, pero incluso esa calma fue favorable porque me permitió disfrutar de los paisajes con más calma.

My friends didn't want me to leave Ushuaia, and deep down I didn't either, but my inner nature told me to move around a bit. I'd done almost everything I could do there and needed to experience something new. That was the longest time I'd ever spent away from home and in one place: six months flew by while I was having fun. I hold Ushuaia dearly in my heart and hope to return one day to greet the friends I made during those days, but at least I left knowing I made the most of my time there.

Mis amigas no querían que me vaya de Ushuaia, y en el fondo yo tampoco, pero mi misma naturaleza interna me pedía moverme un poco. Ya había hecho casi todo lo que podía hacer ahí y necesitaba vivir nuevas experiencias. Esa fue la vez que pasé más tiempo fuera de casa y en un mismo lugar: seis meses pasaron volando mientras me divertía. Guardo a Ushuaia con mucho cariño en mi corazón y espero volver algún día para saludar a los amigos que hice esos días, pero al menos me fui sabiendo que aproveché al máximo mi estancia ahí.

What puts you off about outdoor walks on the beach is the cold. By then, it was already early April, and the autumn chill was making itself felt early. Since I was feeling fine after spending the entire afternoon lying on the grass, I felt strong enough to walk a few blocks to the bus stop. This was actually a bit of an excuse, because I didn't want to rush back to the hostel. I knew that for now, it was the last time I'd see this beach, and I wanted to stretch out my goodbyes a little longer. How was it possible that looking anywhere you looked, you could find such a beautiful landscape 💕?

Lo que te corre de los paseos al aire libre en la playa es el frío que hace. Para ese momento ya era principios de Abril y el frío del otoño se hacía notar temprano. Como me sentía bien después de estar toda la tarde tirada en el pasto, me sentía fuerte como para caminar unas cuadras hasta la parada del colectivo. Esto en realidad fue un poco una excusa, porque no quería volver tan rápido al hostel. Sabía que por ahora, era la última vez que vería esta playa y quería estirar mi despedida un poco más. ¿Cómo era posible que mirando a cualquier lado encontraras un paisaje hermoso 💕?

Visiting Playa Larga, even with my ankle in deplorable condition, was a great idea for my wild self. Of course, my rational self complained about this afterward because my poor foot wouldn't take a break. I knew we'd soon be able to rest at my house, and that for those few days, it was the last effort I was asking of it. I was glad I'd taken this trip with my friends, where we swapped stories about our lives before Ushuaia all afternoon. It was good to get to know them and spend a good time with them until the very end ❤️.

Visitar la Playa Larga aún con el tobillo en condiciones deplorables fue una gran idea en cuanto a mi yo salvaje. Por supuesto que mi yo racional después se quejó de esto porque al pobre pie no le daba un descanso. Sabía que pronto podríamos descansar en mi casa, y que por esos días, era el último esfuerzo que le pedía. Me alegré por haber hecho este paseo con mis amigas, en donde toda la tarde intercambiamos historias de nuestras vidas antes de Ushuaia: fue bueno conocerlas y pasar un buen rato con ellas hasta el último momento ❤️.
