One of the places I most enjoy visiting are the parks, because these spaces in the city have several functions. They can be used as a resting place for passersby, a meeting point for groups of friends or couples in love, or simply decorate the environment around us. If you are also pleased to sit and enjoy the view offered by this type of outdoor area, read on to learn about the Caribbean Heroes Park, which is located right on one of the corners of 4th Street, on the elegant Fifth Avenue of Havana's capital.
I was accompanying a friend who needed to take pictures of natural locations, and she chose for this activity an area that is just one block away from the park, and is flooded with huge leafy trees that provide a delicious shade. In this place it is very common to see cars called "schools" circulating, destined for the practice of people who want to learn to drive.

As my friend was engrossed in her camera, I decided to walk around the surrounding area, and immediately found the Caribbean Heroes Park. I had seen this site on various television programs, as it has often served as a venue for cultural activities. I could see that near this site, you can visit other interesting places such as the Fifth Avenue Clock, which is an icon of this urban road; the Fountain of the Americas and the impressive Green Gables House.

This park was conceived as a tribute to the fraternal relations of the Cuban people with the rest of the countries in the Caribbean area, where the island of Cuba is located. The work located in its center is a creation of Cuban sculptor Rafael Consuegra, who has worked as a professor at the renowned San Alejandro Academy of Arts and has developed recycling as part of his work.
The monument is composed of a bundle of 14 red tubes, representing each of the nations that make up the Caribbean, and sends a message of unity and support. In addition, on one of its walls there is a moving dedication, which states that this space is dedicated to the heroes of the struggle against colonialism and for the independence of the countries of the Caribbean community.

Although I could not spend much time in the park, because I had to return with my friend, I enjoyed this place full of symbolism; and I invite you to visit it when you visit Havana.
