Accidental Discovery: The Igloos

(Edited)

We had a little adventure on Thursday, after attending a burial and enjoying some treats and then taking time to cool ourselves under the trees. We just drove along the roads not knowing what to expect as it was our first time checking out some of the villages in town. As we started the journey, we were fascinated by some artwork along the streets.

Our Lil Guy was just as excited as we were he had his head out of the window like he was checking whether we were going the right way or not😅

We passed by hills, farms, and small communities and spotted some in the distance. We had no clue which places they were but we went on anyway.

After driving for a while, we came across a small signage, welcoming us to Liten. We have never heard of the place before but we were curious to check it out.

As we were about to go down the seemingly private road, our eyes caught a spectacle in the distance. "Huh?" We chorused as we looked at each other, lol! Then the husband stepped on the gas because we were excited to see it.

Unfortunately, when we got closer, we noticed the Igloo-like houses were surrounded by cyclone wire fencing indicating it was private property.

We lingered along the roadside for a while hoping anyone was around but we did not see a soul. It seemed no one was residing there, as the grasses around it had grown tall. So we took the liberty to capture some photos praying whoever owns the Igloos wouldn't mind.😁

But yes, we were amazed at such a wonder, a beautiful piece of architecture hidden in the middle of nowhere atop a hill.

We reckon it wasn't built as a tourist attraction. If it was meant as such and open to visitors, it would have been flocked by tourists. But who knows it would become one in the future.

Wanting to know if there was any information regarding it, I did a quick search online and learned that it is the first Igloo-like structure in the country (Philippines).

Anyway, we also savored these views just across the Igloos. Yongi even played on the grass, sniffing this and that, until the cool breeze prompted us to hop into the car and drive to the next place.

This by the way was the place on the map (screenshot via Google Maps, no copyright infringement intended).

I'd say, the drive was worth it because we discovered the hidden gem where we did not expect it. We remain curious about how it is inside and hope that someday, the place will open its doors to the public and we would not hesitate to check it out again.

Thank you and until our next adventure :)

Aww, I almost forgot I was reading this because I could literally picture all the scenes you painted on this post.

I like your little guy and the pictures? They are superb.

I haven’t seen Igloos before, this is my first time and now I’m wondering how it looks from the inside too.

Thanks for sharing this with us, FG. 🥰

The igloos are very beautiful and I'm really wondering what whoever built it had in mind.
Yongi had a sweet time no doubt.

The igloos are fine structures and it would be nice if they were used as a tourist attraction. It was an enjoyable adventure you guys had, enjoying the ride, the cool breeze and the fine sights. Definitely, it was a time well spent. Thanks for the pictures and the update and have a nice weekend.

Very cool homes and I love your doggie. Is it a Shitzu mix? I have a Maltese-Shitzu, Mika and they are amazing companions.

If it was mine I'd cover it with soil and grass, so I could invite my hobbit friends :o)
Sadly now the igloos look like unearthed bunkers, especially with those tiny windows.

That would be so nice😁

Yeah, they look like bunkers indeed. Although the place may come alive if someone cleans its surroundings and grow some nice plants :)

This is nice.

Sometimes we find beauties in unexpected places.

Like you said, in the nearest future it could become a tourist site.

The owner of the property Ma'am @ifarmgirl picked the best spot to build their dream Igloo house. Whoever sees that house will also be amazed for sure. 😊
