A cruise in the east of the Caribbean Sea. December 2024
"No!" I said, "you know how much I detest being stuck on a boat, especially a Marella, all inclusive one, full of lager swilling, beer bellies, football shirts and chav tattoos,(AND that is just the women!) add in the happy clappy, fake bonhomie of the "entertainment team"; "Done one of them and I said... we agreed
NEVER AGAIN"

So three weeks later I found myself in the Caribbean! It was only 8 days, it was a good deal, I was made an offer I couldn't refuse, I have very little will power.

Where did we dock? a few islands, Bridgetown, Barbados, St John's, Antigua, Basseterre, St Kitts, Philipsburg, St Maarten, Road Town, British Virgin Islands and well at ....thankfully only one full day at sea. So here are a few random images that amused me, from here there and everywhere.

Every port you step off at looks the same, tat shops, built especially to cater for the ships, all selling the same sort of crap, the only difference being the place name on the "made in china" fridge magnets

Loved this sign in St Kitts, guess you are buggered if you expect to die on a weekend and I wonder how many turn up in the dead of night to collect the "remains"

Small Islands big traffic problems
Piss on de man garden! Someone is unhappy, Keep Calm smoke more weed.

Man they certainly take death seriously, remember folks "Do not forget the voice".
decent street art
and well being polite...
...some pretty shit stuff too
Quick hide the kids, michael jackson is in town
In the centre of a roundabout in Basseterre known as The Circus is Berkeley Memorial. A clock tower and water fountain was created in Glasgow, Scotland and erected in 1883 to Thomas B.H. Berkeley, a wealthy owner of several plantations on the island.
the makers, advertised themselves as 'Art Metal Workers, Iron Founders and Sanitary Engineers' in business from 1858 to 1899
Now being served at the best Italian Restaurant in the Caribbean

Seeing as it is that time in the holiday calendar, I thought I would just chuck in my favourite seasonal song of all time.

One of my dream job is to become a seafarer, I did the training until the lockdown came then I'm not sure if I will pursue it thanks for sharing your cruise journey happy sailing

😍 Thanks for the encouraging words it gives me strength to find a way 😊
it is one of dream to spend night in a cruise...
Nightmare more like LOl
Hahaha..
You gave in in the end 😂
These deals are pretty irresistible sometimes, hubby will only agree because of the food, and I coz of the locations, if I haven't been before. Carribbean isn't high on my list yet, I'm just going to see what you come up with.
Did you fly over just for the cruise?😬
Capitulation to bribery is my middle name LOL
It is not worth the effort in my opinion, not a lot to see, as I shall be reporting on here. Yes a long flight for 8 days is a bit much.
I have just come back from a 2 week cruise above the arctic circle with Fred Olsen out of Liverpool...no flying, and only about £400 more expensive than the 8 day one of last year. AND I enjoyed it, the fellow passengers were more in my preferred demographic. I will get around to uploading this time next year!!
Hope you are enjoying your adventure
Omg! How be far in did d you go into the Artic circle? Can't wait to read about that. I'm on the way to the opposite end of the world today 😃
Got as far as Alta which is about 250 miles North, chasing whales (camera shy and coloured skies)
Enjoy the penguins at the ice wall
