WHERE THE COLD FADES AND FAMILY WARMS THE SOUL AT NEW YEAR’S PEAK MOUNTAIN RESORT

Allow me to share my quick unplanned escapade. After days of being caught up in a hectic schedule, yesterday felt like a breath of fresh air, a quick, unplanned family escapade that turned out to be everything my heart needed. It was late in the afternoon when we decided, almost impulsively, to go to a cold place just to unwind. No detailed plans, no overthinking, just the simple desire to pause life for a while and spend time with the people who matter most.

We arrived at the place late in the evening. The air was sharp and cold, the kind of cold that bites through your skin and sends shivers down your spine. But for me, there was no such thing as “too cold” when it’s family time. You don’t really feel the chill when you’re wrapped in laughter, warm hugs, and the tiny voices of little ones who have missed you more than they could say. As a mother, moments like these remind me why I keep pushing forward despite the busyness of life.

We sat there, the fog wrapping around us like a soft blanket. The view was breathtaking, so clear and high that it felt like we could touch the sky if we reached out. The stars tried to peek through the mist as we sipped countless cups of coffee to keep ourselves warm.

I lost count of how many times we refilled our mugs, but every sip felt like an excuse to stay a little longer, to linger in the moment.

What made it even more special was the long conversation I had with my kids. They took turns sharing the stories of their week, their little victories, their struggles, and their funny moments at school. I listened intently, realizing how much I’ve missed these talks because of my busy days. Their laughter filled the cold night air, and in those simple exchanges, I felt my heart swell with gratitude.

There, in that foggy, freezing place, I was reminded that no matter how hectic life gets, these moments these raw, unplanned, love-filled moments are what truly warm the soul.
