[ENG/ITA] Archaeodrome of Poggibonsi: a dip into middle age/Archeodromo di Poggibonsi: un tuffo nel medioevo

Living like a medieval man, or at least trying to!

It has just been a couple of years since we visited the Archeodromo di Poggibonsi in the province of Siena. A place created for both families and children, where you can see huts and ruins of the medieval civilisation.

The Municipal Administration, with an association whose name I cannot remember, opens this park every Summer Sunday, for free, to host visitors in a fascinating place.

As we arrive, we notice this small village of huts and stilt houses with some small workshops where members of the association that manages the park show visitors some crafts.

We can observe these people at work and, if we wish, help them in their workshop. We can enter the huts and see the places where our ancestors slept and cooked.

Later, you can see excavations that have uncovered the remains of a medieval village. Sadly, I have no photos of this archaeological part of the park.

We spent a wonderful afternoon in the open air and will definitely visit again to enjoy some of the details we missed with this visit.

Vivere come un uomo medievale o almeno provarci!

Sono passati un paio d'anni da quando siamo stati all'Archeodromo di Poggibonsi in provincia di Siena. Un posto nato per le famiglie e i bambini, in cui si possono vedere capanne e resti di quello che era la civiltà medievale.

L'Amministrazione Comunale, insieme ad un'associazione di cui non ricordo il nome, apre ogni domenica d'estate questo parco, gratuitamente, per accogliere i visitatori all'interno di un ambiente ricco di fascino.

Appena arrivati si nota questo piccolo villaggio di capanne e palafitte con alcune piccole botteghe in cui, i componenti dell'associazione che tiene in vita il Parco, mostrano ai visitatori alcuni mestieri.

Dopo aver osservato queste persone al lavoro e, volendo, averle aiutate nella loro bottega. Possiamo entrare nelle capanne e vedere i luoghi dove dormivano e cucinavo i nostri antenati.

Successivamente si possono osservare gli scavi che hanno portato alla luce i resti di un villaggio medievale. Purtroppo non ho foto di questa parte archeologica del parco.

Abbiamo trascorso un bellissimo pomeriggio all'aria aperta e, sicuramente, torneremo di nuovo a visitarlo per goderci alcuni particolari che ci sono sfuggiti con questa vistita.
