Enjoy the amazing Colomares Castle in a corner of Andalusia

Benalmádena is a place that has already called me several times for different reasons, and I still have to go to see another little thing that is around there that as soon as I visit I will also bring them to Hive.

However, this time I bring you to one of the greatest exponents of the city, and that is the Castle of Benalmádena.

When I visited this town, I went to the Parque de la Paloma and then returned to go to the Hindu Temple, which was closed and which I could not enter and have not been able to do so until now. When I told my roommate that I had already visited Benalmádena twice, she said... and you didn't go to the castle? My eyes opened like two fried eggs. Well, I didn't know anything about a castle.

As soon as I could, I took the train to this city again, with the sole purpose of visiting the famous Colomares Castle. What a delight please!

Disfruta del asombroso Castillo de Colomares en un rincón de Andalucía

Benalmádena es un sitio que me ha llamado ya varias veces por diferentes motivos, y todavía tengo que ir a ver otra cosilla que hay por allí que en cuanto visite se las acercaré también a Hive.

Sin embargo, en esta ocasión les traigo a uno de los mayores exponentes de la ciudad, y es el Castillo de Benalmádena.

Cuando visité este pueblo, fui al Parque de la Paloma y luego regresé para ir al Templo Hindú, que estaba cerrado y al que no pude ingresar ni he podido hacerlo hasta este momento. Cuando le comenté a mi compañera de piso que había visitado Benalmádena ya dos veces, me dijo… ¿y no fuiste al castillo? Mis ojos se abrieron como dos huevos fritos. Pues no sabía nada de algún castillo.

En cuanto pude, tomé otra vez el tren rumbo a esta ciudad, con el único objetivo de visitar el famoso Castillo de Colomares. ¡Qué delicia por favor!

Arriving in the city is already beautiful because you start going up the mountain in the bus and you have many beautiful views of the sea.

Also this little trip took me to visit the village of Benalmádena, which has mountainous overtones. It doesn't really look like a part of Spain. There are even mountain canteens along the way, hehe, it's like moving for a moment to another place. Anyway, I think that the Spanish mountains are like this, I just don't know these areas yet.

Llegar a la ciudad ya es hermoso porque empiezas a subir en el bus por la montaña y tienes numerosas vistas muy bonitas del mar.

Además este pequeño viaje me llevó a visitar el pueblo de Benalmádena, que tiene tintes montañosos. Realmente no parece una parte de España. Incluso hay cantinas de montaña por el camino, jeje, es como trasladarse por un momento a otro sitio. Igual bueno, estimo que las montañas españolas sí que son de esta manera, solo que yo no conozco todavía esas zonas.

I took, to get to this place, first the train and then a bus that took me to the village. The train was free because I have a season ticket and the bus was about 0.70 cents, I do not remember very well because I also have a discount card.

From the village I walked down to the beautiful castle, whose entrance fee was €3, quite affordable to tell the truth.

Tomé, para llegar a este lugar, primero el tren y luego un bus que me llevaba al pueblo. El tren me sale gratis porque tengo el abono y el bus salió algo de 0,70 céntimos, no recuerdo muy bien porque también tengo una tarjeta con descuentos.

Desde el pueblo bajé caminando hasta el bello castillo, cuya entrada salía €3, un valor bastante accesible para decir verdad.

The Colomares Castle is quite new, as it was completed in 1994, having begun its construction in 1987 according to Wikipedia, is made in honor of the discovery of America and in part to Christopher Columbus. The castle even has an empty mausoleum dedicated to this key figure in history.

The castle has brownish tones, like the color of clay, and what struck me most about this place, are the carved details, perfect, small and in great quantity that are everywhere. Those same details tell a great part of the whole universal history.

El Castillo de Colomares es bastante nuevo, ya que se terminó de construir en 1994, habiéndose iniciado su obra en 1987 según Wikipedia, se realiza en honor al descubrimiento de América y en parte a Cristóbal Colón. Incluso el Castillo cuenta con un mausoleo vacío dedicado a este personaje clave en la historia.

El castillo tiene tonos amarronados, como el color de la arcilla, y lo que más me llamó la atención de este lugar, son los detalles tallados, perfectos, pequeños y en gran cantidad que hay por todos lados. Esos mismos detalles cuentan una gran parte de toda la historia universal.

The Colomares Castle has slopes and nooks and crannies through which one can sneak to take pictures and to delight in the art on display here.

However, the most beautiful thing is the view of the sea from here, in conjunction with this work. The clay color turns orange in contrast to the sea and you can see how the Mediterranean stretches like a blue blanket at the foot of the castle (although it is not right in front of the sea, but it gives that impression because of the height).

El Castillo de Colomares tiene desniveles y recovecos por los que una se puede escabullir para tomar fotos y para deleitarse con el arte que expone este sitio.

Sin embargo, lo más bonito son las vistas del mar desde aquí, en conjunto con esta obra. El color arcilloso se torna anaranjado en contraste con el mar y se puede ver cómo el Mediterráneo se extiende como un manto azul a los pies del Castillo (aunque no se encuentra justo frente al mar, pero da esa impresión por la altura).

After visiting this site I took the opportunity to go to a nearby viewpoint that I had seen in passing, where I could enjoy a beautiful sunset.

At the top there was a church and a kind of square that formed something like a balcony. It reminded me of the “Balcón de Europa” in Nerja, only this was something noticeably smaller and lower in height.

Benalmádena left me once again surprised with its beauty.

Después de visitar este sitio aproveché a ir a un mirador cercano que había visto al pasar, donde pude disfrutar de una hermosa puesta de sol.

En lo alto había una iglesia y una especie de plaza que conformaba algo así como un balcón. Me hizo acordar al “Balcón de Europa” de Nerja, solo que esto era algo notablemente más pequeño y más bajo en altura.

Benalmádena me dejó una vez más sorprendida con su belleza.
