We've finally got the Keys ! So let's visit the nearest Village in this Charming Region of the Perche

avatar

I'm delighted to be able to tell you that the day of the final signature arrived a few days ago. We got up at 5am to catch our train at 7am and finally arrived at 9am in the small village of La Loupe. The appointment at the notary's was scheduled for 10.30am, so we had plenty of time before and after to wander around the village.

Paradoxically, we spent less time in the house, but that's only a temporary setback, as from now on we'll be able to spend as much time there as we like. But what's sure is that this tour of the small town will already give you a feel for the spirit of this rural region, which we're already really enjoying !

Without further ado, and after this short introduction (for once), let's begin our tour of the village. Initially, I wanted to share this article yesterday, but circumstances prevented me from doing so...

IMG_4584.JPG

IMG_4585.JPG

IMG_4586.JPG

So we'll start in chronological order with our arrival at the station and the first roundabout which, I hope you've noticed, is adorned with a sort of small Zen garden with a bridge painted red and a gravel floor. The whole thing is deliciously kitsch and I have to say I really like it... The kitsch, not the fake Zen garden on a roundabout !

IMG_4589.JPG

We have plenty of time to spare and start wandering through the streets, where we don't see many people at this early hour. Not many people, but some are already hard at work on the carpentry site of this tower attached to a house, just opposite the church.

IMG_4605.JPG

But the church will have to wait a little longer, as we first decide to climb up to the castle which, like any self-respecting castle, overlooks the village. However, it looks less medieval than we had expected and more like a 17th-18th century manor house.

IMG_4592.JPG

IMG_4594.JPG

Next to it are these two maps, the first of the region and the second a map of the village of La Loupe... Normally, both are of good enough quality to take a closer look.

IMG_4695.JPG

IMG_4588.JPG

But let's go back to the church. The building isn't grandiose, either in size or in the amount of decoration, but it's a solid country church, it's there and it deserves to exist !

IMG_4693.JPG

IMG_4591.JPG

Right next to it is the memorial to the dead of the two world wars, and it's always 'amusing' to see that the two are often placed side by side, as if war and religion went hand in hand. But maybe that's just the case... I'll say no more !

IMG_4687.JPG

IMG_4600.JPG

The view from the château, with the village in front of us and the village hall in the neighboring square, is another important monument to social life in rural areas, at least those I have visited and lived in for some time.

IMG_4690.JPG

The sea may be almost 2 hours away by car, but I think there's already something of the seaside and coastal about this architecture. Don't you think ?

IMG_4609.JPG

We're back in the village after the signing, but we still have a few hours before the train back to Paris. This time, we take up the morning's visit again and return to the château with a view to seeing more than just the facade of the building.

IMG_4670.JPG

IMG_4608.JPG

IMG_4674.JPG

The main attraction is the adjoining park, planted with beech, oak and maple trees, which is accessible to passers-by. This does not seem to be the case with the building.

IMG_4678.JPG

IMG_4681.jpg

So all we can do is walk around and find the viewpoints from which we can see the most...

IMG_4615.JPG

IMG_4667.JPG

It's not easy, but the closest you'll get to it are the gates and the two giant tillia trees that seem to guard the entrance !

IMG_4620.JPG

IMG_4663.JPG

It's this castle, and the fact that you can't get as close to it as you'd like, that inspires this series of two images that are completely contextual... although I'm not going to lie to you, apart from the fact that it also has a roof, the house we've bought has nothing in common with a building like this.

And between you and me, that's much better, because who'd want to clean a house of several hundred square meters ? It's enough work in fifty sometimes... ^^

IMG_4703.JPG

IMG_4704.JPG

Here we are again, in this maze of small streets lined with houses in the traditional architecture of the region.

IMG_4698.JPG

IMG_4699.JPG

IMG_4700.JPG

Light-colored facades, mullions, chimneys and window towers in ochre brick. I really like this style of modest house that still has a strong character !

IMG_4706.JPG

IMG_4713.JPG

IMG_4714.JPG

We're back at the station as it's almost time for our train home! I think to myself as I look at these images again, it's quite incredible that you can (almost) never see anyone in them.

My secret is that I'm extremely patient and I have to admit that I like straight, pure lines with very little interruption from humans in the field... well, it also depends on the context, because even with patience, in Montmartre or anywhere else, there will always be someone in the frame !

IMG_4719.JPG

IMG_4721.JPG

As the light and colours in the last image suggest, it was very hot on the platform. Fortunately, our train arrived fairly quickly and that's how this final signing mission ended.

You may have been left wanting to know more about this particular subject of the house, but if you're curious, you can go back in time a bit and you'll no doubt find the articles I've shared about it. Otherwise, don't worry, more stories are on the way as we'll be heading there fairly soon :)

Thank you for your visit and I hope you enjoyed reading this article and discovering the area !

Have a great day and see you soon,

<3

@anttn

<3

You're completely right ! And to be honest, even if I inherited a house like that, I think I'd sell it for a much smaller one - like the one we have, for example ^^!

Many thanks dear @delishtreats, I wish you a lovely Friday as well, hopping you're doing well 😘

Congrats for the new house @anttn, a special thought for you and your partner and anyone in this house, that's what we do in Thailand anyway.. Thanks for this great trip of 2 beautiful villages with agreeable names and it seems quiet and peaceful, so be it as they say ;-) Best+ for your new life, and take care!

Thanks we will, @anttn, traditionally a cremaillere or housewarming might have to do something with preparing the new property for its landlords, I guess, in thai there is another name but the one we remember is 'Tam Boon' which literally meaning 'faire (le) bien', overthere cleansing energies, spirits, etc that's why a monk or many often come for the ceremony, alternatively for us as a family (my wife son and I), a shaman comes for the same cleansing, can even be asked if OK prior to. Both religions though are animist in Northern Thailand at least. Best+ !

I went all the way back to October and couldn't find anything obvious and was about to give up when I caught your visit to Bernay at the end of September but you didn't buy that property. So I'm going to wait for your future posts.

Anyway, congrats on your new home, it's so exciting (I'm getting my keys tomorrow 😃)

Ooops! I missed that post, both previously and yesterday.

That truly looks like a paradise out in the countryside, how far away from Paris are you?

Ours is just a normal boring house in town, same as one of the hundreds on the development, nothing as spectacular as yours. Can't wait to see your transformation in the coming months

It's about 2 hours by train and the same time by car :)
First time we visited, it was complete winter, but it was a crush all the same !

Whatever the house, a home of your own is always a place of pleasure and love :)
Do you have a small garden or access to the outdoors ?

Can't wait to see your transformation in the coming months

Thank you 😊 We're impatient to start during this summer !

Have a good weekend in perspective ✌️
