The Sunrise Kissed at Agutayan Sandbar Island Jampason Jasaan Misamis Oriental
Hello to all dear travelers from all over the world! I haven’t been able to post for a week due to the fact that I have been busy with my ESL teaching application, and also I am traveling with my relatives at Agutayan White Island Sandbar located at Jampason Jasaan Misamis Oriental.
If you are from Mindanao, you should try to visit this sandbar if you do not have much budget to visit Boracay Island or Camiguin Island, which is far from Cagayan de Oro City. I didn’t know that there was such a white island like this that existed near my city because all that I knew was that Camiguin Province only had a white island.
My brother-in-law is an angler, and most of the time he spends catching fish in the sea. I asked him and my younger sister if I could come with them when they travel to different beaches from every other part of beaches in Mindanao.
Since they have their own car, it is very accessible for them to always travel to different beaches, but this time it is a one-of-a-kind travel that I didn't expect, and we will be going to a white island. I thought that it was just a typical beach for anglers fishing. I heard about this white island before, and I thought it was just rumors, but it is real.
How to get to Agutayan Island :
From the Agora Bus terminal in Cagayan de Oro City, you can take a bus to Jampason Jasaan Misamis Oriental. The bus fare is only 50 pesos. Tell the driver to drop you at the Jampason Covered Court. It took 1 hour to travel from Cagayan de Oro to Jampason when there's no traffic jam.
- If you're now at Jampason port, you can pay the environmental fee for only 50 pesos, and the boat cost fare is 1,500 pesos for 6 people, so that’s 250 per person, and this time I contributed a fare to my brother and the life vest jacket.
- It took 20 to 30 minutes to travel by boat going to Agutayan Island from Jampason port.
After 30 minutes, voila! I'm stepping on the white island with my bare feet. It is a naked island, as there are no trees, houses, or nipa huts, but you can bring umbrellas to prevent too much heat from the sun, and it's better to use sunblock.
I love the beach; it's so clear, and there are lots of fish to catch for anglers' teams, and of course, I take my time to catch pictures and to swim. This is the advantage of being a Hive blogger: you can enjoy the benefits of roaming around to relax and chill while taking photos. By the way, I did stop catching pictures for a while because I wanted to enjoy the environment and the beach, of course, with the crystal white sand.
I love the refreshing air from the sea breeze, and there's also a house tower located nearby the sandbar, but I wasn't able to get there anymore. I just prefer to stay on the island and enjoy these precious moments.
After the anglers team finished their fish-catching, we decided to get back to Jampason shore because it seems it's getting rainy, and we don't know if it's still safe on the island because of the big waves.
We brought some snacks with us but were planning to stay at nearby Monti Richi beach in Jasaan in my brother's co-angler’s place at night. We spent quality time with a glass of wine and chitchats with the team, and it was such a great experience to relax and unwind the whole day.
It was a long but blissful day that I wouldn’t forget, another adventurous day in my life as a traveler and explorer.

Wow! This sandbar is amazing, must have been such a serene experience being surrounded by the sea. It's a perfect way to disconnect and just breathe in the moment. We love exploring beaches when we're still in the Philippines, in the Mindanao area, we visited the beaches of Glan, Samal, Dakak, and Pink Island in Zamboanga. Mindanao has a lot of wonderful beaches hope to explore more when we have our vacation. Thanks for sharing Maam @antonette 🥰
