A beautiful day at Punta Los Colorados/Un hermoso día en la punta Los colorados ENG-ESP)

Hello friends of #Worldmapping, I recently visited Punta Los Colorados with some friends, very close to the Jagua Bay channel or Cienfuegos, a geographical location that even meteorologists use as a reference when discussing waves and swells. A beautiful place where the ocean waves crash against the reefs and where a lighthouse of the same name stands to guide all ships sailing nearby in the stormy Caribbean Sea.

To travel, we took the train from the iconic Hotel Pasacaballo, a place immortalized by the spectacular Cuban musician and singer known as the Bárbaro del ritmo (Benny Moré) in his song dedicated to Cienfuegos.

On the journey to the point, we enjoyed the maritime landscape, the bay channel, and admired the view of the towns on the other side, the nuclear city, and the Jagua Castle or Our Lady of the Angels of Jagua fortress, which we will visit another time. There are small boats called peseteros that cross from one side to the other. Interestingly, this name comes from the fact that in the past, the price of passage was a twenty-cent coin, which in Cuba and other Latin American countries is called a peseta.

Nothing beats feeling the sea breeze as the landscape spreads across the eyes and cameras of travelers.

Arriving at the point, we were able to see the Los Colorados lighthouse. Although entry is not permitted, the close proximity allows us to imagine what life is like for the men and women who work there.

Near the lighthouse is the Los Colorados farm, a symbol of a local development project. A very clean, welcoming, and artisanal place.

We then participated in the inauguration of the tourist trail of the same name, leading to the plantation area, where people have the opportunity to learn about agricultural practices in areas near the coast and even practice these methods of work and experience firsthand the local production methods, such as plantains, papayas, mangoes, medicinal plants, and others.

Here, while we were enjoying an excellent mango juice, we attended a Mexican music concert.

Very close to the trail, we arrived at another camping area where Yoruba culture blends with the landscape, as seen in this painting on one of the local ceiba trees. The ceiba tree is a sacred tree within African religions rooted in Cuba.

At the campsite itself, mingling with nature, we were surprised by a dance performance based on two orishas of the Regla de Osha or Yoruba religion: Oshún (owner of honey, prosperity, fertility and rivers and ditches) and Changó (God of thunder, lightning and the King of festivals).

After the presentation, I was able to get closer to the cave area, but I didn't dare go all the way inside because of the bat populations inside. However, I was thoroughly delighted by the ways nature shapes the rocks into spectacular figures and landscapes.

Hola amigos de #Worldmapping en estos días visite con unos amigos punta los colorados muy cerca del canal de la Bahía de Jagua o de Cienfuegos, un sitio geográfico que hasta los meteorólogos usan de referencia para hablar de oleajes y marejadas. Un sitio hermoso donde las olas del mar impactan en los arrecifes y donde se encuentra un faro del mismo nombre para orientar a todos aquellos barco que navegan cerca en el mar tormentoso del caribe.

Para viajar tomamos el tren con salida del emblemático Hotel Pasacaballo, lugar inmortalizado por el espectacular músico y cantante cubano conocido como el Bárbaro del ritmo (Benny Moré) en su canción dedicada a Cienfuegos.

En el viaje hasta la punta disfrutamos del paisaje marítimo, el canal de la bahía, admiramos la vista hacia los pueblos del otro lado, la ciudad nuclear y el Castillo de Jagua o fortaleza Nuestra Señora de los Ángeles de Jagua que visitaremos en otro momento, pues existen pequeños botes llamados peseteros que cruzan de un lado al otro, es interesante que este nombre se debe a que en otros tiempos el precio del pasaje era una moneda de veinte centavos, que en Cuba y otros países latinos se denomina peseta.

Nada como sentir la brisa del mar mientras se dibuja el paisaje en los ojos y en las cámaras de los viajeros.

Llegando a la punta pudimos observar el faro los colorados aunque no esta permitido entrar, pero de tan cerca nos permite pensar como será la vida de los hombres y mujeres que trabajan en él.

Cerca del faro se encuentra la finca Los colorados muestra de un proyecto de desarrollo loca. Un lugar muy limpio, acogedor y muy artesanal.

Luego participamos de la inauguración del sendero turístico que lleva el mismo nombre hasta llegar a zona de sembrado donde las personas tienen la oportunidad de conocer sobre las prácticas agrícolas en áreas cercanas a la costa e incluso practicar estas formas de trabajo y sentir de cerca las formas de producción del área, como son los plátanos, las papayas, mangos, plantas medicinales y otros.

Aquí mientras disfrutábamos de un excelente jugo de mango presenciamos un concierto de música Mexicana.

Muy cerca del sendero llegamos a otro espacio de acampadas donde la cultura Yoruba se mezcla con el paisaje como lo hace esta pintura en una de las ceibas del lugar. La ceiba es un árbol sagrado dentro de las religiones africanas arraigadas en Cuba.

En el propio sitio de la acampada y en convivencia con la naturaleza nos sorprendió una presentación danzaria basado en dos orishas de la Regla de Osha o Religión Yoruba, Oshún (dueña de la miel, la prosperidad, la fertilidad y los ríos y zanjas) y Changó(Dios del trueno, el rayo y el Rey las fiestas).

Después de la presentación pude acercarme a la zona de la cuevas pero no me atreví a entrar completamente porque existían poblaciones de murciélagos dentro, sin embargo me deleite plenamente con las formas en que la naturaleza logra moldear las rocas formando figuras y paisajes espectaculares.
