Ouch!
I just came across a case study that can be summarized in one word
Ouch
It comes from the Wills Eye Hospital in the US state of Philadelphia, where a 55-year-old man got treated after getting stung by a bee... In the fucking eye! And very close to his iris! Fuckedy fuck.
The man first visited a local emergency department but the stuff there was unable to remove the sting. Let me correct the last sentence. They totally missed its presence.
Two days passed and his vision had deteriorated to the point he could barely count his fingers using the injured eye. And of course it was bloody painful. Like literally, as the vessels in his right iris had begun to bleed.
So next he went to Wills Eye Hospital to figure what's going on. There the doctors found the presence of the sting between the iris and the sclera, which is the white part of the eye.
This is how his eye looked at that point:
Yeah, everything pretty much inflamed 😳
The doctors used a jeweler's forceps to pull the sting, and the patient was sent home to continue treatment there. His vision shortly started to gradually improve and after about 5 months it was almost back to normal.
In a way the patient was lucky as things could have been much worse if the sting took place a few mm further.
Anyways, fun stuff. You can read more on the story here and here if you like.
I guess the moral of the story is to not get stung by a bee in the eye. It hurts. Duh.

Wow man, that sounds insanely painful I can’t even imagine the agony of a bee sting in the eye. So glad he recovered though
In the iris, I imagine the pain of the man in question, I was stung by a bee on the arm last year, I had to go to the doctor, they incapacitated me for 2 days, fever, swelling, it was painful in the arm, I imagine in the eye.
Man, to think that these animals are essential for life, they do a magnificent job.
I wish you a happy night
Ahh sounds painful. I have been seeing a few times, it wasn't anything serious. I guess it depends on the species!
Wow, that sounds like a horrible experience. I am glad that the person got back his vision to normal after they removed the stinger though.
he's needs to look the other way next time and not mess with bee's
Exactly 😂
Guy was lucky it was just a bee, yellow jacket stings to the cornea are much worse... It still would hurt like hell though!
