One Warm Damp Afternoon We Got Bored, Went to the Beach and Found the Sky and Sea Full of Beautiful Colors

It was a hot afternoon. Me and three friends were just sitting at my place looking at our phones and saying how boring everything had been lately. Then my friend Jake jumped up and said “Hey let’s go to the beach! I saw online that the sunsets there have been really cool.”

We did not even think about it. We grabbed our sandals and some cold water bottles got in my car and drove off. It took about twenty minutes to get there. The whole way we were chatting and wondering if the sunset would really be as good as Jake said.

When we pulled up by the water the sky was already starting to change the bright blue was turning to a light golden color like someone poured honey on the clouds. We could feel the sea air on our faces and it already made us feel better.

We parked near some palm trees and walked onto the sand. It was warm under our feet and it squished between our toes. There were other people there too a family with two little kids making sandcastles an older couple sitting together on a blanket,l and some teens throwing a frisbee near the shore.

Nobody was talking too loud it felt like we all knew we were there to watch the same thing and we did not want to mess it up. Slowly the sun started going down. First it looked like a big orange ball just above some hills far away.

Then it started making all kinds of colors not just orange and yellow but bright pink like roses and even some purple mixed in with the darkening sky. The best part was the water it looked like a mirror copying every color from above.

When the waves came in they broke all those colors into lots of little shiny spots. We stood there for a long time not saying much. Every time we thought it could not get any prettier it did. Finally the last bit of sun went below the horizon but a soft glow stayed in the sky.

When we went back to the car our feet were covered in sand and we were all smiling so much. We did not plan any of this it was just one of those times you do something on the spot and it ends up being the best thing you did all week. There’s nothing better than a nice beach sunset when you are with your friends.
