A Fool's Dream And Paradise

What if there was an unmasking of our true selves?
Would the world be sane?
Rules keep societies in check
Yet they are untamed shackles
Unlocked to set the high free
Tightened to keep the low silent.

What if we shun the rules of propriety and be true?
Cast off the masks we are forced to don
Revealing the authenticity of our souls
In a place where judgement is a myth
And expectations exist not
We can dance with wild abandon.

What if we were unburdened by conventions
And embraced our messy imperfections?
Therein lies our true freedom
Losing the binds of customs and traditions
To find our inner light that rings like a harmonious melody
A testimony to our resilience.

What if such reflection is but a fool's dream?
For pain throbs within as any other
Yet we smile for the world to see
A mask of strength to conceal the truth within
And save the world from the turmoil
Boiling over like molten lava.

What if we let laughter and tears flow freely,
Walking naked in a world of masks?
Unchained by fear we dare to be true and real
Yet a bunch would howl insanity
For the strange sparks fear in every heart
And the silent battle of pains and hidden lies continues.

Atop a mountain with the high winds howling
Hands raised to the stormy skies
She screams in earnest
Release the ties that bind us and let our spirits be free
So we may unearth the strength to love
Even if it's in a fool's paradise.

A poem to drain so much injustice in this world, although thinking in an extremist way is not the solution, I think a world without rules would be chaos, in any case we need a more balanced society, as a catharsis, it is a good poem. Greetings @kemmyb .

I think a world without rules would be chaos...

True but when those rules are stringent, they rob us of opportunities of expressing ourselves, making us slavish to them! Thanks so much for your thoughtful comment. !PIZZA 🙂

What a good writing, it's very deep and thoughtful at the same time, because many times we are not ourselves for trying people who just aren't worth it, this world should be more liberal in many ways not in everything, but well dreaming doesn't cost anything, nice poem @kemmyb

Chains bind the souls and torture the longings for an ephemeral freedom, which fades like daylight giving way to darkness.

Beautiful verses.
Thanks for sharing.
Good day.

Indeed the mask we wear had successfully concealed the evil men do. People only enact laws and orders in favor of themselves but pretend it would bring peace and perfection or ease the pain of all.

Fantastic poem @kemmyb

It poses an interesting question. And I like the way it reflects on the nature of societal rules; which so often are seemingly different for people of different classes.

The recurring metaphor of the mask is clever and I love the dramatic nature of the final lines...

So we may unearth the strength to love
Even if it's in a fool's paradise.

Really nice!

Thanks so much for your thoughtful comment, @raj808. 🙂 The poem arose from being lost in reflection on a bus ride! If only there were no restraints, I wonder how the world would be. !PIZZA
