Back then when we were young, we used to do some simple labour jobs just to make a little money for ourselves.

One faithful day, my friend and I got a plot of land to clear. We agreed to remove all the roots and prepare the land for building, then we would get paid.

To us, the land didn’t look too big, so we started the work early in the morning, thinking we would finish before 2pm. But by 4pm, we hadn’t even done half of it. We decided to stop and return the next day.

The next day, we went back and continued the work. We were so determined to finish that day. Before we knew it, it was 5:30pm and I was already very tired. All my energy was gone.

I told my friend I was going. He said I should wait a little so we could finish. I kept quiet and continued for some time. But it got to a point where I couldn’t do anything again. I quietly picked up my shovel and started going.

My friend called me to wait again, but I told him he should do the work and take the money. Finishing the work is not a do or die matter. So I left.
