This is my post for #freewriters 2737 prompt enlarge hosted by @mariannewest

Today, my sister and I caught 80 more bait. We caught 90 yesterday, but I figure we used 25 of them. This will give us 155, which is less than I would normally take, but I do not expect to catch much, so it should be plenty.

I took two bait rods with us to see if we could catch any small croakers to go with the pigfish. My first cast I caught a pigfish and thought this might be a way to catch more of them, it was the only one caught. Then all we caught was catfish, so we moved to a new area.

I caught two whiting in this spot, and then we only caught more catfish.

We were using small pieces of clam for bait and 3 #10 long shank hooks. A #10 hook is a very small hook. It is something like you would use to catch minnows. We tried several places, even in the ICW, Intercoastal Waterway, which is the main channel that runs through our river from Miami 200 miles to my south and 60 miles to the north of me, which is the Haulover Canal, we did not catch any croakers in the ICW.

The last stop was just outside the Sebastian River bridge. We have been putting the boat in at Donald McDonald campground and keeping the bait we catch up the river just east of the railroad bridge. My sister caught a croaker and a trout. The only way for the trout to look big enough is to enlarge the picture, It was only about 8 inches, they have to be 15 to keep. If it were 15, we would have thrown it back because we had no ice on the boat.

After putting our bait in the holder, I rigged a pole up for trolling and we trolled all the way back to the boat ramp. There was nothing there to bite.

I have busted my back, hand and ass getting the boat trailer, boat, pigfish traps, bait holder, and fishing poles ready to fish, we even went to the fish house and got ice so we could go in the morning.

While I was making my lunch for tomorrow, she called and told me we need to be back in by 1 o'clock so she can be home when her granddaughters get off of the school bus. I have been telling her that I did not know if this was going to work because of her grandkids, and she has been telling me she has it all worked out. I was pissed and told her if we had to be in by then, we will not go and hung up on her. After thinking about it, I decided I would go by myself and see if I could handle it, and I sent her a text asking her to bring my ice. We left it in her truck because we put it in a big cooler, and in the morning, we were to shovel it into the coolers in my boat.

I also told her I did not want to go with her because I would be pissed that she changed our plans on the first day and she would be pissed if I made her change them so she could go. She tells me to just take a deep breath, she has already changed them, and she is going. I have been worried about how she would handle commercial fishing, and this proves that I am right about my concerns. I am not sure what I am going to do when she shows up in the morning. I am so upset with her, this has taken away all of my joy about wanting to get back on the river.

I've been following your story. Sounds like commercial fishing is a lot of hard work. I hope you and your sister find a way to work around the time. I imagine this activity is a whole day thing. Wishing you both lots of success.

Enjoy your weekend!

Yes, commercial fishing is a lot of hard work. It is 7pm and I just sat down. After fishing all day, there is still work to do after you get home. We had to unload the fish from the boat and put them in her truck to take to the fish house, weigh them and pack them with plenty of ice and put them in the cold room, clean the fish house, once back home, clean the boat, put the battery on to charge, and fix things that broke, like my boat chair and a reel broke. Thanks for reading.
