Phillip became champion of the marathon the old-fashioned way.
A freak rockfall had taken out everyone ahead of him.
Their lives depended on him running the fastest time ever to get to help.
So he did, and won their lives at the cost of his own, the old-fashioned marathon way.

He is ... the original marathon runner in Greece had to deliver a message that a city was being attacked, and he ran all the way to the city of Marathon and delivered the message and died of exhaustion. I just brought that older story into modern terms.

It is ... the first runner from Marathon, Greece to Athens delivered his message and also died from exhaustion. Phillip of course knew this ... and did it anyway ... a true Greek-style hero.
