Never look down on writings

Don't you dare make fun of our writings: We will give you a villainous role in our next piece

I'm fed up with explaining myself to people who don't appreciate literature, be it reading or writing.

Maybe they've been traumatized – just a guess.

I once had a strict literature teacher who used to toss our homework out of the window from the 3rd floor, but I can credit him for my first step into writing competition.

I've never been so thankful for someone to throw my books like that. Thank you, Sir!

I feel like I'm looked down upon because I'm not earning a boatload of money compared to others or they think I’m not contributing anything to society.

But deep inside, I feel like they are the last ones on earth who should be telling us what to do, what not to do, or how to or not to pursue our passion, or how we shouldn't waste our time. They give the worst advice for writers.

Being a writer doesn't mean we can just do write-ins for applications. It takes a lot of practice, scribbling, filling pages in that little notebook, and not forgetting courage.

We don't just write and expect others to read us. We read, we write, and we learn from each other.

We form creative friendships. We can collaborate, we inspire each other, and we can go deep into conversation with someone we've never even met, feeling like we've known each other for the longest time, all through our writings.

For me, my conversations with people in real life are often quite unfulfilled; sometimes, people talk just because they have to, with nothing truly meaningful in it.

Whether it's a poem or essay? It depends. A poem can be a message I wanted to bring out without needing too many words, while an essay is for when I have a lot to say about a certain subject.

Metaphorically speaking, writing has brought me to many corners of the world and allowed me to live many different lives through the words of their respective authors.

Like a bridge for me to live through their experience and perhaps for anyone who reads mine to walk a mile in mine.

I’m able to taste different cuisine too even when I’m far away, because of the descriptions and the recipe shared.

I walk into unfamiliar territory with an open mind, especially when the owner of the writing bares it all – their vulnerabilities and everything in between.

Fragility is something we have to endure when we dare to write.

So please, don't trash our writings when you don't understand how much it meant for us, especially when we open up our hearts to write

The length of practice needed in writing isn’t just about mastering it, but being of a master of ourselves of the things we write. I love to know I am doing better whenever i write.
