Upon My Visits - A Freewrite

I was so passionate about, you know, becoming a software developer and all of that. But all that just went in a different direction. Not that I am still not in tech, but. We'll get. I'll talk about that when we get there.

From my university days, I have always been interested in social work. So even though I wasn't working for an organisation then, and I recall that at the time I was in the 200 level in the university, I realised that upon my visits to the UBTH.

Back then there were a lot of children with cleft palate and vulnerable mothers who could not afford to pay the bills as low as 20,030 thousand to you know, get operations done for their children. So one of the things that I took upon myself was to help with fundraising. So even though I wasn't documenting my work then. I didn't know that I tas going to be the start of something beautiful for me in my career.

So I would raise funds for children so they could undergo the surgery to correct the cleft palate and which they had. I also would raise funds from friends, collect provisions, collect whatever they could give and you know.

Put them together and on my birthdays, on my Valentine's Day, I would visit various orphanages, sometimes with friends and sometimes just one or two people who are also interested in the course, and we would give to the less privileged.

So that was what I used to do, but really the plan was to just keep doing that as a side hobby. I call it a hobby because it was something that I camp withly.

As long as it gives you a fulfuilment, then its something that you can do lifetime, and the fact that you haven't become what you initially wanted doesnt mean that's the end, you can still always start again. Rooting for you
