The Smiling Muspelheim Demon | SPT Art Contest Week 368

Hello, dear creative community!
This time, for week 368, i chose another fire element character to continue my peculiar obsession with red and black. I thought this demon was perfect to add to my Splinterlands fan art sketchbook.

Muspelheim demons are just one of the many demons under the archfiend Barashkukor that swore fealty to Silus of the Rift and his legions of Chaos after their infernal realm was consumed by the dark god Uul. Now, they serve as brutal instruments of terror in Barashkukor's legion of demons, turning foes to ashes in pursuit of the Chaos Empire's—and the archfiend's—interests.Splinterlands.com
Sketching | Outlining
Although i wasn't sure if i could finish this drawing, i wanted to at least try to sketch my demon. A few days ago, i developed tendonitis in my right wrist, so it was a little difficult, but since i'm very committed to filling my sketchbooks, even if the process is slow, i have to do it, ha ha ha. Little by little, i traced the face of this demon. I admit that the creature that emerged was quite different. I wanted it to have that creepy devil look that they usually put in movies and comics. Since this character is like a cyclop, i wanted to highlight that big eye on his forehead, but i made his face quite human. I left the eye sockets empty, as if he had removed his eyes and was left with only the big eye of infernal wisdom. Once i had my sketch well structured, i began to outline it with a very fine 0.05 drawing pen.

Inking | Black ink
I still wasn't quite sure how to add the hair. To be honest, i was thinking of leaving it without hair. I actually liked it better that way, but i would see how things went as i continued with the next step of adding the base shadows and all the details in black ink until i had the whole look of my demon well done and defined. Up to this point, i was calm and everything seemed to be going very well. The outline, the shadows, the black usually calms me down quite a bit.

Bloody Red Base
Once again, it was time for the blood red, although this is where my doubts began and my panic set in. I wasn't sure which red to use, so in the end i used a red with orange tones, which i would later darken with a deeper shade. Everything was fine until i added the red, but then i admit that my chakras became a little misaligned when i added the hair. But it's normal for me to sometimes fall into this situation where i think everything will be disastrous or that i'll never finish, which is typical of my anxious moments.

Coloring Pencils Time
I already knew i would use coloring pencils to add certain details to give my demon's skin a better finish. I wanted to add a little lilac to the base and then mix it with warm colors so that they wouldn't look so intense. This was definitely my most anxious moment, so much so that i almost had a breakdown and was about to cancel the drawing and start another one, but i calmed myself down to continue and finish it. I think i got a little frustrated because i had been working on simpler themes in recent days, using few materials, etc., and this time it became complex and involved more steps, which threw me off a bit. Fortunately, i was able to flow with this demon until i got it into the desired shape. For this step, i used lilac, yellow, and a very light gray that looks white.

Acrylic Markers |Last Details
At this point in the drawing, i had calmed down a bit and, of course, i had to finish this little project. All that was left was to add those finishing touches that make all the difference. I left the acrylic markers for the last step because, in this case, i wasn't sure how to add them delicately, as these markers don't have a very fine tip, so you have to be very careful when applying them, otherwise you end up with strokes that are too thick, and this is only a very small drawing, so it's very important to take care of those little details.
I added those lines to highlight certain areas that i wanted to look brighter. I made the background with small strokes using the same colors as the rest of the drawing, and the only color that was slightly different was purple to highlight her hair a little.

The End
And that's how this peculiar gremlin-faced demon turned out... I'm glad i got over my moment of colorful panic and continued with this hellish creature. It was probably the dense energy of this creature and drawing late into the night instead of sleeping that started to affect me... In the end, i liked how all the colors and techniques came together, at least respecting this character's color palette. I hope you liked it. See you next time 🖤♥️👽
