Hello, dear creative community!
This time, i couldn't miss this October challenge. 👽
SPIRITS:Nftshowroom October Challenge. I was finally able to participate in at least one and relive my gallery 🖤

It was time to make a new sketch for my other personal sketchbook, but i didn't know exactly what i was going to draw... I wanted to get inspired by looking at photos of strange faces; for some reason, i find motivation and inspiration in the bizarre. I had no intention of turning this into an NFT; i thought it would just be another drawing. But this ghostly and peculiar creature simply emerged, perfect for the occasion.

Sketch/ Outlining

As i saw figures and faces with their hair blowing in the wind, as if the wind were blowing very strongly... I wanted my ghostly creature to have that characteristic.

I began to sketch a silhouette with my pencil, focusing on the face as if another spirit or creature in the other world were calling her and she simply turned her head kindly. I had also had a strong desire for days to draw birds or owls... Obviously, i didn't draw that, but i almost did.

I wanted to mix this creature with a human face and feathers instead of arms, so i thought about drawing feathers or something similar. That's why there are those shapes on the “sleeves” of that strange dress it's wearing. As always happens to me, the whole drawing ends up going in a different direction and turns out to be something else. That's how it usually is when you don't plan anything, and i really like it, because it feels like in this creative moment, every stroke you make on the paper becomes a kind of oracular card. Only the gods of the Underworld will know what it means.

Inking Time

My favorite part came, well, practically the whole drawing was my favorite part because from the beginning i intended to do everything in black ink. Normally, the hair is one of the parts that takes me the longest, because i feel the need to add a lot of lines, but this time i wanted the details to be in another area. So for the hair, i just wanted a large, flat black mass, but with movement. Then came the part of adding more ink to detail the eyes that adorn it.

Black Ink Everywhere

I began to sketch the face of my ghostly creature with delicate lines and then continued with the rest of the body and eyes. I always enjoy when i get to the eyes. I was sometimes tempted to add extra colors, but every time those bad thoughts came, i refused. Although this creature was not planned, the black and red ink was.

Bloody Red ♥️

When i finished all the details in black ink, i already knew that the background would be deep red, a blood red. But i wasn't sure what material to use for this part. I had several options: watercolors, gouache, acrylic, alcohol markers, and even a red pen. I thought about each one, but in the end i decided on the alcohol marker. I wanted this material from the start, but sometimes i don't like the texture when i have to cover slightly larger areas. This is just a sketchbook, but i worry too much and i don't know why. Anyway, i remembered that i had some Prismacolor art markers. I don't use them much because they have quite strong ink and bleed a lot... But for this occasion, that red was perfect. It had just the right tone and intensity. I thought i would just paint the background, but i wanted to add red to the eyes, and from there everything became a bit bloody, but without losing that kind face and complexion. 😄♥️.

The End

And that's how my ghostly creature, my kind fallen angel, turned out. I hope you like it, and that's all for now. See you in the next post! Thanks;)
