I was looking through my anime list and noticed three office romances that I hadn't talked about before, even though it's not a genre I'm particularly fond of. However, something about them caught my attention. The fact that one of them declined halfway through and became boring is another story, so I'll talk about each one, from the one I liked the least to the one that turned out to be really entertaining and that I didn't have high hopes for.
Kekkon Surutte, Hontō Desu ka (結婚するって、本当ですか)…
This anime premiered in 2024, directed by Hiroshi Ikehata and produced by Ashi Productions. A comedy-drama/romantic comedy with a slice-of-life theme, the story follows Takuya Ōhara and Rika Honjō, two coworkers at a Tokyo-based travel agency. They find themselves in a bind when their office suddenly announces the opening of an overseas branch and threatens to transfer anyone who isn't married. Both are, in their own way, quite introverted and very attached to their solitary routines, so this news comes as a complete shock. Their most immediate solution, having barely met, is to devise an unusual plan: to pretend to be in a serious relationship with marriage plans. They begin a fake cohabitation where they must both show their "love" to all their coworkers, without developing real feelings—or at least that's what they think. Will they be able to pull off their plan successfully? Will they end up getting married or not?
The first thing that caught my attention about this anime was the protagonists' relationship. They're both quite introverted, and I wanted to see how their relationship would develop. I found it funny at times, and it was handled well. However, halfway through the story, it started to get boring. I finished it because, well, it was almost over, and I thought there would be something more interesting at the end. The ending was predictable, with its sweet conclusion and all, but, well, something felt missing (maybe it's just me). I mean, I did find them both adorable, and I liked that they explored adult life, especially the themes of work pressure, fear of change, and office dynamics. In other words, my main complaint is how slow the plot was in certain parts. The couple's development in terms of falling in love and communicating was good, but it all became repetitive, and the secondary characters' stories added a depressing weight. So my score will be the following:

Bukiyō na Senpai (不器用な先輩。)…
Also known as My Awkward Senpai, it premiered in October 2025, directed by Ayumu Kotake and animated by Studio Elle. It's a romantic comedy anime that explores the dynamic between Tsukasa Takeda, a new and observant employee, and his direct superior, Senpai Igarashi. Senpai is a dedicated, enthusiastic, and highly competent woman, but she has a small problem that makes her incredibly endearing and often hilarious: she's extraordinarily clumsy. When communicating or expressing something, she doesn't do it the way she intends; it comes out differently, as if she were scolding or demanding. Takeda gradually understands this and already knows her true personality (from something that happened with her before), so he can't help but be drawn to his senpai's genuine and sweet nature, a unique kind of clumsiness. Will he be able to have a good relationship with his colleague?
I found the animation in this story beautiful, although I felt it dipped in some episodes. Ultimately, it was the girl's personality that made me watch it. I found it hilarious how she prepares to act like a professional and friendly superior, only to come across as the complete opposite, which often happens when your nerves get the better of you. I also liked how people talk without knowing the person they're really like, as she wasn't very well-regarded by her colleagues. They treated her as cold and demanding, when she's the complete opposite. The relationship between the two is sweet; they take their time, especially Takeda, who gives her space. Overall, it's a simple romantic comedy with a simple relationship. My complaint, as I mentioned, is that the animation dipped in certain episodes, and the romance could have been explored in greater depth. Therefore, I'm hoping for a second season where this is developed further. That's why my rating would be:

Kono Kaisha ni Suki na Hito ga Imasu (この会社に好きな人がいます)…
Finally, we have this anime, which premiered in January 2025, directed by Naoko Takeichi and produced by Studio Blade. It's a romantic comedy with a slice-of-life theme. The story follows Yūsuke Taira and Chisato Aizawa, two employees who work together in the same department at a publishing company. However, what no one in the office knows is that they are already a couple; in fact, they've been secretly dating for a year. They decided to keep their relationship a secret to avoid gossip or problems at the office, maintaining a professional facade and being cautious outside of work. Will they be able to maintain a good relationship? Will they be in trouble if they're found out?
What's interesting about this anime is that you didn't have to wait many episodes to see a romantic evolution between the protagonists. They were already a couple, giving us many sweet, daring, and personal growth moments, both as individuals and as a couple. The way they found support in each other was very beautiful, along with the comedic moments, especially when they quickly tried to hide their relationship, which became increasingly difficult as they spent more time getting to know each other and wanted to be closer. I also really liked how they find, or try to find, a balance between their love life and work responsibilities. They understand each other's situations, there's healthy communication, and it's truly worth watching. I really have no complaints; it was a very fun, mature, and dynamic rom-com. Some might find the theme of keeping the romance a secret a bit monotonous, but their interactions are genuinely sweet, so my rating will be as follows:

I'm not a huge fan of office romances; some of them even come across as cliché. But these stories have their own unique charm, with characters and backstories you might connect with. Estuve viendo mi lista de animes y me percaté de tres de romances de oficina del cual no había hablado de ellos, siendo un tipo de genero del cual no soy muy afán, sin embargo, algo en ellos me llamo la atención, que uno haya decaído a mitad de camino, volviéndose aburrido, es otro cuento, así que les hablaré de cada uno, del que menos me gustó, hasta el que resultó realmente entretenido y no tenia mucha fe.

Este anime fue estrenado para el año 2024, bajo la dirección de Hiroshi Ikehata y del estudio de animación Ashi Productions, de genero comedia dramática, comedia romántica y recuentos de la vida; la historia sigue a Takuya Ōhara y Rika Honjō, dos compañeros de trabajo en una agencia de viajes con sede en Tokio, los cuales se ven en un aprieto debido a que, cuando su oficina de repente anuncia la apertura de una sucursal en el extranjero y amenaza con trasladar a cualquiera que no esté casado. Ambos son, a su manera, bastante introvertidos y muy apegados a sus rutinas solitarias, lo cual esta noticia les cae como un balde agua fría, por lo que la solución más inmediata cuando apenas se conocen, es idear un plan inusual: simular que están en una relación seria con planes de matrimonio, comenzando una convivencia falsa donde ambos deberán mostrar su “amor” a todos sus compañeros de trabajo, sin desarrollar sentimientos reales o por lo menos eso creen ¿Serán capaz de llevar su plan satisfactoriamente? ¿Se terminarán casando o no?
Lo primero que me llamo la atención de este anime fue la relación de los protagonistas, pues ambos son seres bastante introvertidos y quise saber cómo se desarrollaría la relación entre ellos, resultándome cómico en ciertos puntos y abordados de buena manera, sin embargo, a mitad de historia ya estaba resultando aburrido, la terminé porque aja ya estaba por finalizar y pensaba que habría algo más interesante al final, el cual fue predecible, con su cierre y todo tierno, no obstante, mmm, algo como que me falto (quizás sea cosa mía). Ósea, si se me hacían adorables ambos y todo, y que exploraran la vida adulta, sobre todo por el tema de la presión laboral, el miedo al cambio, las dinámicas de oficina…, en otras palabras, mi gran queja es lo lento que se tomaba en ciertas partes de la trama, hubo una buena construcción de la pareja en cuanto al enamoramiento y la comunicación, pero se volvía todo de lo mismo y que los personajes secundarios, en cuanto a su historia, agregaban un peso deprimente; así que mi puntaje será el siguiente:

Conocido también como My Awkward Senpai, fue estrenado en octubre del 2025, bajo la dirección de Ayumu Kotake y del estudio de animación Studio Elle, es de genero comedia romántica; el anime explora la dinámica entre Tsukasa Takeda, un trabajador nuevo y observador, y su superior directa, la Senpai Igarashi, quien es una mujer dedicada, entusiasta y bastante competente en su trabajo, pero tiene un pequeño problemita que la hace increíblemente adorable y a menudo divertida: es extraordinariamente torpe y que a la hora de comunicar o expresar algo, no lo hace como lo piensa, le sale distinto, como si estuviese regañando o exigiendo. Esto lo va comprendiendo Takeda y ya sabia como es su verdadera personalidad (por algo que había pasado antes con ella), así que, no puede evitar sentirse atraído por la naturaleza genuina y dulce de su senpai, una torpeza singular ¿Será capaz de llevar una buena relación con su compañero?
La animación de esta historia se me hizo bonita, aunque sentí que tuvo ciertos bajones en algunos episodios, en definitiva fue la personalidad de la chica que me hizo verla, me daba mucha risa como ella se prepara para actuar como toda una profesional y amigable superior y salía todo lo contrario, lo cual suele pasar cuando tus nervios te traicionan; me gustó también como la gente habla sin saber como es realmente la persona, pues ella no era como muy bien comentada por sus compañeros, la trataban como alguien fría y exigente, cuando es todo lo opuesto. La relación entre ambos es bonita, se toman su tiempo, sobre todo la actitud de Takeda, quién le da su espacio, en termino generales, es una comedia romántica sencilla con una relación sencilla, mi queja como dije es que tuvo bajones en la animación en ciertos episodios y mayor profundidad en el tema del romance, por ello se espera una segunda temporada, donde esto se desarrolle mejor, por eso mi puntuación seria:

Por último, tenemos este anime, el cual fue estrenado en enero del 2025, bajo la dirección de Naoko Takeichi y del estudio de animación Blade, es de genero comedia romántica y recuentos de la vida; la historia sigue a Yūsuke Taira y Chisato Aizawa, dos empleados que trabajan juntos en el mismo departamento de una editorial, sin embargo, lo que nadie en la oficina sabe es que ellos ya son pareja, de hecho, han estado saliendo en secreto durante un año. Decidieron mantener su relación en secreto, para evitar chismes o problemas en la oficina, manteniendo una fachada profesional y estar precavidos en lugares fuera de la oficina ¿Serán capaz de llevar una buena relación? ¿Estarán en problemas al ser descubiertos?
Lo interesante de este anime es que no se estuvo que esperar tantos episodios para ver una evolución romántica entre los protagonistas, aquí ya estaban emparejados y todo, regalándonos muchos momentos dulces, atrevidos y de crecimiento tanto personal como en pareja, como encontraban apoyo de uno con el otro, eso se me hizo muy bonito, aunado a los momentos cómicos, sobre todo cuando buscaban rápidamente ocultar su relación, lo cual se les hacia cada vez más difícil, pues al pasar más tiempo conociéndose, quieren estar más cerca. También me gustó mucho como encuentran o tratan de encontrar equilibrio entre su vida amorosa con las responsabilidades laborales, comprenden sus situaciones, hay una comunicación sana y que de verdad vale la pena ser visto; realmente no tengo quejas, fue un romcom bastante divertido, maduro y dinámico, quizás algunos lleguen a encontrar un poco monótono el tema de mantener el romance en secreto, pero de verdad resulta dulce sus interacciones, así que mi puntaje será el siguiente:

No soy muy fan de los romances de oficina, algunos llegan resultar más de los mismos, pero estas historias tienen su toque y con personajes o historia que podrías conectar, por lo que es inevitable preguntar para ti que has llegado hasta aquí: ¿Qué crees que hace que el Romance de Oficina sea un terreno tan fértil para las mejores historias de amor del anime?
