Guess who re-watched the first two parts of the anime Kusuriya no Hitorigoto? Well yes, my person, I did because they passed images of the first episodes, in addition to the recent premiere of its third season (or third part, since the chapters are continuous) that made me want to see it again all at once and that speaks of the incredible story that presents us, with a unique and unforgettable protagonist so, below, I leave you my opinions about it.
Kusuriya no Hitorigoto (薬屋のひとりごと)…
The Apothecary Diaries is an adaptation of a series of Japanese light novels written by Natsu Hyūga. It premiered in October 2023 under the direction of Norihiro Naganuma and the animation studios OLC and Tōhō Animation Studio; it is a mystery, historical, drama and romance genre and is currently in its 30th episode./div>

As for the plot…
The story is a fantasy world, inspired by ancient China where we have as the young protagonist Maomao, who has a great knowledge in botany and medicine; one day she is kidnapped and sold as a servant to work in the imperial harem, where she tries to lead a discreet life and go unnoticed, this goes overboard, because her curiosity and desire to obtain more knowledge, will not make it possible.
Suddenly, a mysterious case occurs regarding the children of the emperor's main consorts, which makes her take matters into her own hands and not only solve the case, but also look for a way to save them; her cunning and skills will make her arouse curiosity in Jinshi, a eunuch who is in charge of everything that happens in the inner palace. After noticing the knowledge she possesses, he decides to promote her to lady-in-waiting to the emperor's favorite concubine, Gyokuyou, where she would also have the role of poison taster.
From here on, this young apothecary will continue to solve case after case and face the dangers, mysteries and secrets that surround the imperial court, which will gradually be unraveled. Will our protagonist be able to lead a quiet life? Well, when analyzing the historical context in which it is set, won't the fact that a woman has such knowledge involve her in dangers and scorn? You'll have to watch the anime to find out how she copes.
Personal opinion
Personally, I consider that the anime Kusuriya no Hitorigoto has a little bit of everything, mystery, drama, a tone of romance not oversaturated, but light and that is developing very well; as well as the development of the plot, showing more depth to its characters that, without a doubt, at least two of them you will love. Maomao makes me a unique protagonist with a great insight that ends up captivating you, although you may feel her arrogant, uffs her attitude does not displease you at all, rather it enriches the character and yes, she analyzes herself well, I think that acting this way is also due to the historical context in which she finds herself, even when she contradicts herself and wants to pass as missing, emphasizing that she is a commoner, her nature as a doctor and the curiosity of wanting to learn, make her act without thinking, having a firmness in what she says and does.
The style and the animation are beautiful and very much in accordance with the environment it is inspired by; the openings are super beautiful, never disappointing, with a visual proposal that enriches the story in many ways, besides the light moments, with comic tones, are very well executed, because they balance those of tension and mysteries. Another thing I like about Kusuriya, is that they do not overwhelm you with medical terms that, at that time were handled differently and that complicate your way of seeing and understanding it, because here the opposite happens, the way in which they address this part is very well achieved and in a more modern tone, which makes the plot understandable and that balances very well with the cases to solve, which are increasingly intriguing and entertaining.
Positive points…
-A plot that keeps your expectations high.
-Unique characters that have their part of the scene well used, in addition to very well executed developments and with a complexity that will surprise you.
-A beautiful visual appeal and very much tied to the era, which will also keep you captivated.
-The genres are very well balanced, there is a little bit of everything and at the right moments, which creates harmony to the story that is developing.
Negative points…
-I can't give a negative point to this anime, I love it and the fact that I have seen it for the second time, speaks of how entertaining it is. Besides the fact that they use ancient China as a historical context, it makes it much more attractive.

¿Adivinen quien se volvió a ver las dos primeras partes del anime Kusuriya no Hitorigoto? Pues sí, mi persona, lo hice porque pasaron imágenes de los primeros episodios, además del reciente estreno de su tercera temporada (o tercera parte, ya que los capítulos están continuos) que hicieron que me entraron las ganas de volverla a ver todo de una vez y eso habla de la increíble historia que nos presenta, con una protagonista única e inolvidable así que, a continuación, les dejo mis opiniones al respecto.
Kusuriya no Hitorigoto (薬屋のひとりごと)…
En ingles lleva por título: The Apothecary Diaries y en español: Los diarios de la boticaria; es una adaptación de una serie de novelas ligeras japonesas escritas Natsu Hyūga. Se estrenó en octubre del 2023 bajo la dirección de Norihiro Naganuma y de los estudios de animación OLC y Tōhō Animation Studio; es de genero misterio, histórico, drama y romance y actualmente va por su episodio 30.
En cuanto a la trama…
La historia es un mundo fantasioso, inspirado en la antigua China donde tenemos como a la joven protagonista a Maomao, quien tiene un gran conocimiento en la botánica y medicina; un día es secuestrada y vendida como sirvienta para que trabajase en el harén imperial, donde intenta llevar una vida discreta y pasar desapercibida, esto se va a la borda, pues su curiosidad y las ganas de querer obtener más conocimiento, no lo harán posible.
De repente, ocurre un misterioso caso con respecto a los hijos de las consortes principales del emperador, lo que hace que tome cartas en el asunto y no solo resuelva el caso, sino que busca la manera de salvarlos; su astucia y habilidades harán que despierte curiosidad en Jinshi, un eunuco y quien está a cargo de todo lo que ocurre en el palacio interior. Tras notar los conocimientos que posee, decide promoverla a dama de compañía de la concubina favorita del emperador, Gyokuyou, donde tendría también el papel de catadora de venenos.
A partir de aquí, esta joven boticaria continuará resolviendo caso tras caso y afrontando los peligros, misterios y secretos que envuelven la corte imperial que, poco a poco serán desenvueltos. ¿Será capaz nuestra protagonista llevar una vida tranquila? Pues al analizar el contexto histórico en el que está planteado, el que una mujer tenga dichos conocimientos ¿no la envolverá en peligros y desprecios? Tendrá que ver el anime para saber cómo lo sobrelleva.
Opinión personal
En lo personal, considero que el anime Kusuriya no Hitorigoto tiene de todo un poco, misterio, drama, un tono de romance no sobresaturado, sino ligero y que se va desenvolviendo muy bien; así como el desarrollo de la trama, mostrando a mayor profundidad a sus personajes que, sin duda alguna, por lo menos a dos de ellos te encantaran. Maomao se me hace una protagonista única y con una gran perspicacia que te termina por cautivar, a pesar de que pueden que la sienta arrogante, uffs su actitud no te llega a desagradar para nada, más bien enriquece al personaje y si, se analiza bien, creo que actuar así también se debe al contexto histórico en el que se encuentra, aun cuando se contradice y desee pasar de desaparecida, recalcando que es una plebeya, su naturaleza de médico y la curiosidad de querer aprender, hacen que actúe sin pensarlo, teniendo una firmeza en lo que dice y hace.
El estilo y la animación se me hacen hermosas y muy de acuerdo al ambiente por el que está inspirado; los openings super hermosos, nunca decepcionan, con una propuesta visual que enriquece la historia en muchos sentidos, además de que los momentos ligeros, con tonos cómicos, están muy bien ejecutados, porque equilibran los de tensión y misterios. Otra de las cosas que me gusta de Kusuriya, es que no te agobian con términos médicos que, en esa época eran manejados de forma distinta y que lleguen a complicar tu forma de verlo y entenderlo, pues aquí sucede todo lo contrario, la manera en cómo lo direccionan esta parte está muy bien logrado y en un tono más moderno, lo que hace entendible la trama y que se balancee muy bien con los casos a resolver, que cada vez son más intrigantes y entretenidos.
Puntos positivos…
-Una trama que mantiene tus expectativas altas.
-Personajes únicos y que tienen su parte de escena bien empleada, además de desarrollos muy bien ejecutados y con una complejidad que te sorprenderá.
-Un atractivo visual hermoso y muy ligado a la época, lo que también te mantendrá cautivado.
-Los géneros están muy bien nivelados, hay de todo un poco y en los momentos justos, lo que crea armonía a la historia que se está desarrollando.
Puntos negativos…
-No puedo darle un punto negativo a este anime, me encanta y el hecho de que lo haya visto por segunda vez, habla de lo entretenida que es. Además de que usen como contexto histórico la antigua china, pues lo vuelve mucho más atractivo.

Sin duda alguna, te recomiendo que veas Kusuriya no Hitorigoto, es entretenido, con el toque de misterio que te mantendrá enganchado, los personajes son distinguibles; es dinámico en muchos sentidos, con historias que se van entrelazando perfectamente que por lo que ofrece una experiencia única en cada una de ellas. ¿Qué esperas para verlo?

This is one of the best anime I've ever seen (and continue to watch since its second season is still airing) in my life. An anime that surprises by proving to be the complete opposite of what it appears to be at first, with a incredible story and very, very well developed characters. Not to mention the excellent animation work it has from one of the best studios today. The soundtrack is the best, especially the last opening which is too catchy and hard to forget.
