Solo Leveling (S1): Between Shadows and Power (🇪🇸 | 🇺🇸)

Greetings, my dear Otakus of @theanimerealm. Don't even think that I have forgotten you. Today, I'm here to give you my opinion about the first season of the highly acclaimed series of the moment known as Solo Leveling. Well, right off the bat, I'll just say that it was not what I expected, but it was better.

This series has a roller-coaster plot. The truth is that after the first three chapters, I had my doubts about continuing to watch it or stopping it. This is because there were several things that I found somewhat annoying and others that intrigued me.
And well, with each passing chapter I just wondered Why so much Hype for this series, what is it that has been so liked, because it was a few chapters that I had no idea how the story would go, I just saw the immediate evolution of the main character and his drastic change of personality as he increased his levels, becoming more and more cocky.

And the series started very well, unexpectedly Gore for my taste and with the typical protagonist who wants to become stronger to protect the people he loves. You could say that it was the typical generic theme that is always seen in anime series.
But what if the series went beyond what you're used to seeing, and it's not the story of a hero but that of a villain on the rise that's being told? I have never seen such a story; to me, it is one of a kind, and I was very shocked to see the drastic change of the protagonist. To become so powerful in such a short time as if by magic. But what bothered me the most was his personality change.

I mean, where is the tender boy who cared about others? Where did he go? This new protagonist certainly turned out to be someone completely different from me. Seeing so much arrogance and superiority made him, for me, someone very unpleasant; the truth is that I don't tolerate people like that.
On the other hand, the series had other aspects that I liked a lot and gave me “that I don't know what” to want to finish watching it. One of them was the design of the drawings, the effects of the fights, the explosions, the action, everything was excellent in that aspect, so much so that in several occasions it reminded me of the dungeons of World of Warcraft and the groups I formed with other players to level up.

I also really liked the story, so much so that it made me question the unexpected plot twist and wonder Could this be the story of a villain and not the classic superhero protagonist?, which gave it an added twist and one more reason to keep watching and find out what exactly was going on.
The end of the first season was epic. I mean, the series started well, it was weird but with a something that inspired you to keep watching it to close with a flourish and remind me of my favorite character from World of Warcraft, which I see, I'm not the only fan and that would explain the hype and popularity that reached this peculiar series.

So I have no choice but to keep watching it. The end of the first season made me one more fan, and I joined the group of people who have caused a stir in the networks talking about this series non-stop. Thank God I have not become a spoiler so far, and I hope to see it complete without knowing what will happen. For my part, I give this first season its well deserved:

IMHO Solo Leveling (S1) is a great disappointment due to introduction of absurd (and outright insulting to viewers' intelligence) concept of "life is literally a computer game", after only few episodes. After that, world/game stops making sense because it is whatever game designer made it. Hero's journey became levelling for the sake of levelling. Slaying
monsters3D-models lost purpose other than "levelling". I also think that Solo Levelling lacks aesthetic with excessive gore and average graphics. But worst of all, it lacks meaningful story, instead giving viewers so much nonsense (e.g. inventory, instant healing, etc.) that suspension of disbelief becomes impossible. Solo Levelling is mostly a singleprotagonistplayer experience, with too little interaction between main and other characters.http://ecency.com/hive-158489/@onlyjob/ore-dake-level-up-na

Oh, I remember you. With everything you wrote here, there's no need to read your review. You already summarized your point of view, saving me time. Cheers.
Uhh I'd have to agree with onlyjob in this one... Well some of it.. The hype isn't worth it. Although,I used to be on my knees for the first season but my eyes twitched a bit. I didn't like the so much hype man and that's why I have decided to see the second season 2027;)
I'll wait until I'm done to watch it in one day XD As for @onlyjob, I must read your review to know what to think about it. Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting; it's nice to have you on my blog.

Thanks a lot, guys. I just went through your post reading the rules, it's very good to keep them in mind. Have a great day!
I have to confess that the first few episodes of this anime were quite interesting, with that diabolical statue eliminating everything, it was fantastic. But then he seems to become the best at everything. That's annoying in any anime. Nice post
Right? That's why I questioned whether I would finish watching it or not, because the change of the main character was so radical and annoying that I couldn't stand it. But I will give the second season a chance. Thanks for stopping by and commenting!
I think it's boring, we already know who's going to win. I won't give spoilers now, but he becomes the best at everything
I will keep this in mind. From what I've been told, the protagonist is still arrogant and is more inclined to lose his humanity
Great review! It's clear that Solo Leveling left a strong impression on you, even though it didn't quite live up to your expectations at first. The protagonist's increasingly arrogant nature is something that divides opinions; some see it as a natural evolution within the "system" he finds himself in, while others feel he's lost some of his original essence.
What you mentioned about the possibility that it's more the story of a rising villain than a hero is a very interesting point. The anime plays with that ambiguity, which makes it more compelling and different from other isekai or power-progression series.
You say the ending made you change your mind and become a fan. What impacted you most about that season finale? Are you now eagerly awaiting the second season, or are you afraid the quality will drop?
Well, I'm a big fan of World of Warcraft. It's one of my favorite games that I could play for a few years until my PC stopped allowing me to play it, and so did my pocket.
Seeing the ending and reading about Necromancer, with those intense blue eyes, reminded me a lot of Arthas and how misunderstood he was by others. This made it clear to me that the character would be more villain than hero, and I hope to see that in the second season.
Also, in certain chapters, the series reminded me a lot of WoW gameplay, only with a personalized and humanized touch. Undoubtedly, this first season was interesting to watch, and although it was somewhat slow in the development of the plot, it mixes themes that make me curious and remind me of other franchises such as Matrix. So I want to know what will happen next and who controls this System.
Thank you very much for stopping by and reading my review. I appreciate it very much
