Top 5 Best Romance Animes of 2024 | Nattosheru Review [ENG/SPA]
Hello, anime fans. Let's continue talking about the best that 2024 has brought us in this growing industry. This time, I'll talk about five romance anime that I consider to be the best of all the ones I've seen last year. We're talking about a year full of romantic works of all kinds, such as the long-awaited return of Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsura with its second season, the continuation of the romantic and fantastic gem Watashi no Shiawase na Kekkon, and the second season of the great remake of Urusei Yatsura.
However, as I have done with previous TOPs, I will only talk about new anime that were first broadcast in 2024. I have already reviewed most of these, so you will see their names linked. While they are not the best romance anime in history, they do manage to stand out in one way or another among most of the romance anime that aired last year, which are full of fanservice, repetitive plots, and generic characters.
I will rate each of these anime series from 1 to 10. I will start with the lowest rating and work my way up to the highest rating. Please note that everything you read below is only my opinion. If you are a fan of romance, then stay tuned until the end of this post.

Estamos hablando de un año repleto de obras románticas de todo tipo; como el esperado regreso de Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsura con su segunda temporada, la continuación de la joya romántica y fantástica de Watashi no Shiawase na Kekkon y la segunda temporada del grandioso remake de Urusei Yatsura.
Sin embargo, como he hecho con anteriores TOPs, solo les hablaré de animes nuevos que recién se emitieron por primera vez el pasado 2024. La mayoría de estos ya les he hecho una reseña en su momento, así que por eso verán sus nombres enlazados. Si bien no son los mejores animes de romance de toda la historia, sí consiguen destacarse de alguna u otra forma entre la mayoría de animes de romance que se emitieron el año pasado y que están repletos de fanservice, tramas repetitivas y personajes genéricos.
Cada uno de estos animes que les hablaré a continuación los voy a calificar del 1 al 10. Empezaré con el de menor calificación y así iré hasta terminar con el de mayor calificación. Pseudo Harem
Let's start with a relatively short, calm, and fun anime. A kind of RomCom mixed with Slice of Life that became partially well-known. It's one of those anime to watch for a while and entertain yourself without further ado. Based on the manga series of the same name written and illustrated by Yū Saitō, Pseudo Harem was produced by the Nomad studio. The anime tells the story of Eiji Kitahama, a high school student who shows newcomer Rin Nanakura the school's drama club. Excited and nervous at the same time, she shows off her acting skills by playing different personalities that Eiji finds fascinating to talk to. Thus, our protagonist gets his own "harem" of one girl.
No, it's not what it seems. Surely anyone who has read the title of this anime will have some idea of what it's about, but no, it's nothing like what you're thinking. Instead, what I can tell you is that it's one of those comical and relaxing anime that you can watch, with fairly mild humor and characters that you can easily relate to. Of course, what we see in its 12 episodes is mainly the interaction between Eiji and Rin. Obviously, being a romance anime, we expect to see a connection and development between the two characters throughout the anime. But in the end, we only see them interacting in [almost] the same way throughout. The development is quite slow, with almost no unexpected twists.
It's like watching a Slice of Life romance with light comedy that not everyone is used to seeing. Or well, that's what I say since I'm more of a fan of dark and ironic humor. Other than that, there are no other details to mention that I haven't already mentioned. As for the characters, there's not much to talk about either, as they are simply fun and funny, nothing more. The animation isn't anything special, but at least it provides decent audiovisual quality. Especially with its drawing style, character design, vivid color palette, visual effects, and styles. The sound effects also sound good, but the soundtrack is even better and is one of the best things about this anime. In short, this is a series that I recommend watching only if you like light, short, and funny shows.
Personally, I give it a rating of 7/10 in terms of the romance and comedy genre.

Empecemos con un anime relativamente corto, tranquilo y divertido. Una especie de RomCom mezclado con Slice of Life que llegó a ser parcialmente conocida. Es uno de esos animes para ver un rato y entretenerse sin más. Basada en la serie de manga homónima escrita e ilustrada por Yū Saitō, Pseudo Harem fue producida por el estudio Nomad. El anime nos cuenta la historia de Eiji Kitahama, un estudiante de preparatoria que le muestra a la recién ingresada Rin Nanakura el Club de Teatro de la escuela. Ella emocionada y nerviosa a la vez le demuestra sus habilidades de actuación al interpretar diferentes personalidades con las que Eiji se sentirá fascinado por hablar. Así, nuestro protagonista conseguirá su propio “harem” de una sola chica.
No, no es lo que aparenta ser. Seguramente alguno que ha leído el título de este anime se habrá hecho alguna idea de lo que trataría, pero no, no es nada parecido a lo que están pensando. En cambio, lo que sí les puedo decir es que es de esos animes cómicos y relajantes que se pueden llegar a ver, con un humor bastante suave y personajes con los que te puedes familiarizar fácilmente. Claro está, lo que podemos ver en sus 12 episodios son la interacción seguida de Eiji y Rin mayormente. Obviamente, al ser un anime de romance se espera dicha conexión y desarrollo entre ambos personajes a lo largo del anime. Pero al final solo los veremos relacionarse [casi] de la misma manera en todo momento. Su desarrollo es bastante lento, sin casi ningún giro inesperado.
Es como ver un Slice of Life de un romance con comedia ligera que no a todo el mundo está acostumbrado a ver. O bueno, es lo que yo digo ya que soy más fan del humor negro e irónico. De resto, no hay ningún otro detalle por mencionar que no haya hecho antes ya. En cuanto a los personajes, no hay mucho de qué hablar tampoco, siendo estos simplemente divertidos y graciosos sin más. El tema de la animación no es la gran cosa, pero al menos cumple con darnos una calidad audiovisual decente. Sobre todo con su estilo de dibujo, diseño de los personajes, paleta de colores vivos, efectos visuales y estilos. Los efectos de sonido también suenan bien, pero mejor es la banda sonora que es de lo mejor de este anime. En resumen, esta es una serie que recomiendo ver solo si te gusta lo ligero, corto y divertido.
Personalmente, le doy una calificación de 7/10 en lo que respecta al género del romance y la comedia.

Blue Box
Let's continue with one of last year's most popular romance anime series. It's a unique blend of romance, comedy, and sports that captivates many and confuses some. Its visual quality is far superior to its story and characters. But even so, it's one of those anime series that I highly recommend watching if you like romantic novels and sports. Based on the manga series of the same name written and illustrated by Kouji Miura, Blue Box was produced by TMS Entertainment and Telecom Animation Film. The anime tells the story of Taiki Inomata, a student at a prestigious sports school who always arrives early in the morning under the pretext of training, but in reality it is to see Chinatsu Kano, the love of his life.
This is one of those genre mixes that I like and find quite entertaining, even though I'm not a fan of sports itself. Of course, we come here to learn about love stories, which is why this anime has its own appeal in this case. Especially when I say that we see the typical "love triangle" that we can see in any romantic novel or movie. The thing is, whether it's because of the sports theme or because the work takes its time to develop each of the main characters, we see many somewhat slow episodes with a considerable amount of awkward or unfinished scenes and moments. It's not until the end, among the last few episodes of the 24 it has, that we see a plot twist and a moment that is finally shocking and exciting.
Mind you, I'm not saying that the anime is bad; whether you like this type of romantic story that takes its time to develop or prefer its training scenes and competitions, you can enjoy it as it should be enjoyed and without any problems. The light humor is also mixed in very well and naturally into the story. The characters stand out well with their personalities, aspirations, goals, and feelings. There are happy moments, sad moments, and even absurd moments. As for the animation, it is top-notch in terms of quality, fluidity, details, character designs, visual effects, and movement styles. The soundtrack is top-notch, especially the opening and ending themes. In short, this is an anime I recommend watching if you like teen romance or sports.

Su calidad visual está a un nivel muy superior a su historia y sus personajes. Pero aún así es de esos animes que recomiendo mucho ver si te gustan las novelas románticas y el deporte. Basada en la serie de manga homónima escrita e ilustrada por Kouji Miura, Blue Box fue producida por TMS Entertainment y Telecom Animation Film. El anime nos cuenta la historia de Taiki Inomata, un estudiante de una prestigiosa escuela dedicada al deporte que frecuenta siempre a primera hora del día con la excusa de entrenar, pero que en realidad es para ver a Chinatsu Kano, el amor de su vida.
Esta es de esas mezclas de géneros que me gustan y me entretienen bastante, aún sin ser fan del deporte en sí. Claro, aquí venimos a conocer historias de amor, por lo cual este anime tiene lo suyo en este caso. Sobre todo cuando digo que vemos el típico caso del “triángulo amoroso” que en cualquier novela o película romántica podemos ver. El detalle es que, ya sea por el tema del deporte o que la obra se toma su tiempo para desarrollar a cada uno de los personajes principales, vemos muchos episodios un tanto lentos con una cantidad considerable de escenarios y momentos incómodos o inconclusos. No es sino al final, entre sus últimos episodios de los 24 que tiene, que vemos un giro de trama y un momento finalmente impactante y emocionante.
Ojo, con esto no me refiero a que el anime sea malo; ya sea porque te guste este tipo de historias románticas que se toman su tiempo para desarrollarse o prefieras sus escenas de entrenamiento y las competencias que tiene, lo puedes disfrutar como se debe y sin problemas. El humor ligero que se maneja también se mezcla muy bien y de forma natural en su historia. Los personajes por su parte se destacan bien con su forma de ser, sus aspiraciones, sus metas y sus sentimientos. Tiene momentos felices, momentos tristes y momentos absurdos inclusive. En cuanto a la animación es de lo mejor en cuanto a calidad, fluidez, detalles, diseños de personajes, efectos visuales y estilos de movimiento. La banda sonora es de lo mejor, sobre todo sus Openings y Endings. En fin, este es un anime que recomiendo ver si te gusta el romance juvenil o el deporte.
Personalmente, le doy una calificación de 8/10 en lo que respecta al género del romance y el deportes.

365 Days to the Wedding
Let's now discuss a romance anime that is not nearly as popular as Blue Box and whose production level and audiovisual quality do not even come close. However, its plot and the themes it addresses make it superior, as it is much more serious than a simple love triangle between teenagers. This incredibly underrated anime gem is perfect for anyone looking for a deep and entertaining love story. Based on the manga series of the same name written and illustrated by Tamiki Wakaki, 365 Days to The Wedding was produced by Ashi Productions. The anime tells the story of Takuya Ohara and Rika Honjoji, both employees of a travel agency that has decided to open a new office in Alaska and take its single employees to that cold country. To avoid this fate, they both decide to lie to everyone and say they are engaged.
I may be exaggerating what I say about this anime, but personally, that's what I think because of its story and the way it is told with a plot that appears to be more funny than dramatic. However, for those in the know, it is a fact that marriage is one of those topics that cannot be taken lightly. In this case, we see this reflected not only in the main couple, but also in some of their peers who also have their experiences with romantic relationships, marriages, and families that easily fall apart or have problems making certain decisions and taking certain actions in their lives. This series of experiences that we see in the 12 episodes of this anime makes it superior to the anime I've already told you about. We can also draw lessons and learnings that can be very useful in our daily lives.
What I like most about this anime is the humorous way it tackles these complex issues with characters that you can easily identify with in one way or another. This is a great achievement in itself, as it is not always possible to achieve such a balance between humor and drama in a love story for young people and adults. Lo que más me gusta de este animes es la forma tan humorística de tocar estos temas complejos con personajes que fácilmente puedes identificarte de alguna u otra manera. Esto es un gran logro de por sí ya que no siempre se consigue tal equilibrio entre el humor y el drama en una historia de amor para jóvenes y adultos. Pero creo que esto se logra -en parte- debido a que le dan el protagonismo necesario a los personajes que lo necesitan. Por otro lado, en cuanto a la animación no es que sea la mejor de todas, pero al menos cumple con darnos un nivel de calidad decente. Tanto el diseño de los personajes como el estilo de dibujo, la paleta de colores, los detalles y los efectos visuales están bien. Lo mismo va con sus efectos de sonido y su banda sonora. Repito, este es un anime que recomiendo para los que buscan algo mucho más maduro que una simple historia de amor adolescente.

Y es que no es difícil sentirse identificado con alguno de los eventos o situaciones que viven esta pareja de adolescentes.
En lo que respecta a los personajes, cada uno tiene su particularidad lo cual los hace más sencillos de empatizar. Algunos personajes pueden llegar a ser un tanto extraños, como es el caso de Hananoi, por ejemplo. Pero lo bueno de este anime es que consigue desarrollar bien a cada uno de ellos de principio a fin. En cuanto al aspecto audiovisual, no es lo mejor del mundo, pero consigue verse un poco mejor que muchos animes de romance de la actualidad. Sobre todo con el diseño de los personajes, el estilo de dibujo, la paleta de colores claros y los efectos visuales. Finalizamos este top con el que para mí es el mejor anime de romance y comedia que he visto el año pasado. Esto debido a que no es como cualquier otro RomCom que se haya emitido, sino que es completamente distinto al tratarse de la historia de los que han sido rechazados por el amor de sus vidas en la escuela. Algo con el cual muchos pueden llegar a identificarse fácilmente. Pero considero que tanto la forma humorística de contarnos esta historia como la manera en la que desarrollan de forma especial a estos personajes es lo que hace de este anime mejor que cualquiera. En cuanto al tema de la animación, no es lo de menos, sino más bien lo contrario. El nivel de calidad audiovisual es fantástico, digno del excelente trabajo que siempre hace A-1 Pictures. Los diseños de los personajes, el estilo de dibujo, la paleta de colores, la fluidez, la estética, los efectos visuales y los estilos de movimiento son de lo mejor. Lo mismo sucede con los efectos de sonido. Su banda sonora es también una maravilla, más que nada por lo pegajosa y emotiva que es.
