This is another one of those remakes that absolutely no one expected or needed in their lives until it aired last season. It's rare to see supernatural animated series, let alone horror series, that aren't linked to the typical action elements of any popular shōnen. In this case, it can be said that it is one of the first works to become popular outside of Japan that has this mix of genres with a simple plot to follow. Obviously, at first I expected something scary given its premise, but after watching its first and great episode, it became clear to me that it wasn't what I was looking for.

Still, I must admit that I found this anime very entertaining. Of course, this wasn't always the case, as there were several details in the plot and episodes that didn't quite convince me. Perhaps this is because most of the time it deals with random cases of ghosts or supernatural creatures that torment or have some contact with one of the protagonist's students. Not only that, but each episode ends up following a very common pattern with a fairly predictable development and ending. While this type of varied story manages to give prominence to different secondary characters, in the end, this does not prevent the work from falling into many typical clichés.

Este es otro de esos remakes que absolutamente nadie esperaba ni necesitaba en su vida hasta que se emitió en la temporada pasada. Muy pocas veces se ven series animadas sobrenaturales y menos de terror que no estén ligados con elementos de acción típicos de cualquier shōnen popular. En este caso se puede decir que es de las primeras obras que se popularizaron más allá de Japón que posee esta mezcla de géneros con una trama sencilla de seguir. Obviamente, al principio esperaba algo aterrador teniendo en cuenta su premisa, pero luego de ver su primer y gran episodio me quedó claro que no era lo que estaba buscando.

Aún así, debo admitir que me entretuvo mucho este anime. Claro está, no siempre fue así ya que hubo varios detalles con su trama y sus episodios que no me terminaron de convencer. Tal vez y sea porque la mayoría de veces trata de casos al azar de fantasmas o criaturas sobrenaturales que atormentan o tienen algún contacto con alguno de los estudiantes del protagonista. El detalle no es solo eso, sino que cada episodio termina mostrando un patrón muy común con un desarrollo y un final bastante predecible. Si bien este tipo de historias variadas consigue darle el protagonismo a distintos personajes secundarios, al final esto no evita que la obra caiga en muchos clichés típicos.

To begin with, it's to be expected that every case we see will always end the same way: with a happy ending. Also, no matter what enemy or threat they face, they always find a way to defeat it, even when it's practically impossible or too late. Deus Ex-Machina, predictable plot twists, and happy endings are just some of the many clichés this anime has. I understand that, being an action shōnen, it doesn't have a truly captivating story. But I haven't seen anything as generic as this work. There were a few exceptions that caught my attention, but they are minimal in comparison.

As for the horror, there are more improvised screams than actual terror generated by this work. Of the 13 episodes in this first season (which, by the way, looks like it will have a sequel next year), only one or two episodes caused me any disturbance, and that's because you can tell they were made to generate terror. The rest of the episodes are almost identical and predictable. I repeat, this is to be expected when you mix action with supernatural elements and horror that... well, is more laughable than scary. And speaking of laughter, comedy is another feature of this series, which doesn't seem to care about making its characters look ridiculous.

Entiendo que, al ser un shōnen de acción, al fin y al cabo, no tenga una historia que atrape de verdad. Pero no he visto algo tan genérico como lo es esta obra. Se puede decir que hubo una que otra excepción que me llamó la atención, pero es mínima en comparación.

En cuanto al terror, son más los gritos improvisados que el terror en sí que genera esta obra. De los 13 episodios que tiene esta primera temporada (que por cierto, parece que tendrá una continuación el año que viene), solo un episodio o dos fueron los que me causaron algo de perturbación y es porque se nota que estaban hechos para generar terror. De resto, los episodios son casi similares y predecibles. Repito, es algo que es de esperarse cuando mezclar acción con elementos sobrenaturales y un terror que… bueno, da más risa que miedo. Y hablando de risas, la comedia es otro detalle que posee esta serie y que parece no preocuparse por dejar en ridículo a sus personajes.

While I like that it's funny and entertaining, the fact that this anime relies so heavily on absurd humor is quite disappointing. Even in moments where it's supposed to generate some kind of tension, these are completely overshadowed by the bad jokes and awkward moments that are constantly shown to us. Comedy is something that, sadly, we will always see linked to action in one way or another. And this, mixed with horror, does not achieve a result that I like, to be honest. I understand that the work itself is like this, but I really expected something more from it.

I don't want to sound like a killjoy with all this; I know that anyone looking for something different from the usual action fare may find this adaptation interesting. And if you've been a fan of this franchise for decades, then you'll love this new version even more. But if you're looking for horror, fear, or something similar, then this isn't the place for you. I guess, in the end, it all depends on your tastes and preferences. Still, I don't think this anime is all bad because it's entertaining in certain ways. There are scenes and moments where you get hooked on plots and cases that really grab your attention.

Si bien me agrada que dé risa y sea entretenido, el hecho de que este anime dependa mucho del humor absurdo que tiene es bastante decepcionante. Incluso en momentos donde se supone que debería de generar algún tipo de tensión, estos son opacados por completo por los chistes malos y los momentos incómodos que nos muestran constantemente. La comedia es algo que, tristemente, siempre lo veremos ligado a la acción de alguna u otra manera. Y esto, mezclado con el terror, no consigue un resultado que sea de mi agrado, la verdad. Entiendo que la obra en sí sea así, pero de verdad que esperaba algo más de esta obra.

No quiero sonar a un aguafiestas con todo esto, sé que para cualquiera que busque algo de acción muy diferente a lo mismo de siempre puede llegar a interesarle esta adaptación. Y si eres fan de esta franquicia desde hace décadas atrás entonces te encantará aún más ver esta nueva versión. Pero si lo que buscas es terror, miedo o algo parecido, entonces no es el lugar indicado para tí. Supongo que, al final, todo depende de tus gustos y preferencias. Aún así, considero que no está del todo mal este anime debido a lo entretenida que es en ciertos aspectos. Hay escenas y momentos en los que te enganchas con tramas y casos que llaman mucho la atención.

The way they show us a little bit about japanese culture and traditions through the different supernatural events that occur at this elementary school is interesting. The same goes for the different spirits or creatures that Nube has to face in each episode. Let's just say that some of their stories and origins make quite an impression. On the other hand, I would have liked them to have explored a little more the origin of Nube's demonic hand and how he got it. But hey, I guess that will be for a second or third season, which they may possibly produce in the future.

Last but not least, let's talk about the audiovisual aspect of this anime. Being a remake of an adaptation made almost thirty years ago, a big difference in quality is to be expected. However, although the first episode and a few other moments have shown a fairly high level of quality, this is not always the case. In many cases, we see average quality and fluidity, but nothing to write home about. The character designs, drawing style faithful to the manga, and color palette are not bad. The same goes for the sound effects and soundtrack. In short, this is an anime about teachers fighting ghosts that may interest you.

Personally, I give it a rating of 8/10 in terms of the action, comedy, and supernatural genres.

La manera en la que nos muestran un poco sobre la cultura y tradiciones de Japón en los diferentes casos sobrenaturales que ocurren en esta escuela primaria es interesante. Lo mismo va para los diferentes espíritus o criaturas con los que Nube tiene que enfrentarse en cada episodio. Digamos que algunas de sus historias y orígenes causan cierta impresión. Por el otro lado, lo que sí quisiera que hubieran indagado aunque sea un poco es en el origen de la mano demoníaca que tiene Nube y cómo es que la consiguió. Pero bueno, supongo que ya eso será para alguna segunda o tercera temporada que, posiblemente, puedan llegar a producir en el futuro.

Por último, pero no menos importante, hablemos ahora del apartado audiovisual que tiene este anime. Siendo un remake de una adaptación ya hecha hace casi treinta años atrás, es de esperarse una gran diferencia de calidad. Sin embargo, si bien en el primer episodio y en uno que otro momento han demostrado un nivel de calidad bastante alto, no siempre es así. En muchos casos vemos una calidad y fluidez regulares, pero nada del otro mundo. Los diseños de los personajes, estilo de dibujo fieles al manga y la paleta de colores no están mal. Lo mismo sucede con los efectos de sonido y la banda sonora que tiene. En fin, este es un anime de profesores peleando contra fantasmas que puede llegar a interesarte.

Personalmente, le doy una calificación de 8/10 en lo que respecta al género de acción, comedia y sobrenatural.
