Many know about the constant and inevitable amount of generic, repetitive, unoriginal and cliché-filled works. This is more abundant in genres such as fantasy, the genre from which the series we will talk about today originates. If ten years ago the boom of works of this genre was huge, today this amount has multiplied so much that it is difficult to define an exact amount of fantasy anime among so many new broadcasts per season. On the one hand I like the idea of knowing new promises or interesting stories within this industry, but on the other hand this ends up being too tedious and exhausting when taking into account the amount of series with repeated stories that are broadcasted. It is as if the originality or authenticity that some time ago this anime world had is running out among so many generic series. It's like watching the same Snow White fairy tale repeat itself indefinitely, without any change or novelty whatsoever. This is undoubtedly something that disappoints me more and more about this industry since, what at the beginning I saw as something novel and attractive, has now become something common and very little produced. I guess this will become more and more accentuated over the years, making my tastes or preferences become less general and more restrictive when choosing which anime to watch.

Antes de darles mi opinión sobre este anime, quiero mencionar primero algo que seguramente algunos recordarán que he dicho ya en ocasiones anteriores. Muchos saben sobre la constante e inevitable cantidad de obras genéricas, repetitivas, poco originales y repleta de clichés que hay. Esto abunda más en géneros como la fantasía, género del cual se origina la serie de la cual hablaremos el día de hoy. Si hace diez años el auge de obras de este género era enorme, al día de hoy esta cantidad se ha multiplicado tanto que es difícil definir una cantidad exacta de animes de fantasía entre tantas emisiones nuevas que hay por temporada. Por un lado me agrada la idea de conocer nuevas promesas o historias interesantes dentro de esta industria, pero por otro lado esto termina siendo demasiado tedioso y agotador al tener en cuenta la cantidad de series con historias repetidas que se emiten. Es como si la originalidad o autenticidad que hace un tiempo tenía este mundo del anime se esté acabando entre tantas series genéricas. Es como ver el mismo cuento de Blancanieves repetirse indefinidamente, sin ningún cambio ni novedad alguna. Esto sin duda es algo que me decepciona cada vez más de esta industria ya que, lo que al principio veía como algo novedoso y atractivo, ahora se ha vuelto algo común y muy poco producido. Supongo que esto se irá acentuando a lo largo de los años, haciendo que mis gustos o preferencias se hagan menos generales y más restrictivas al escoger qué animes ver.

That is why, thanks to an ability that she acquires one day and that turns her into someone so powerful that she can be compared to a God or a Demon in this medieval and fantastic world; she takes advantage of this ability to participate anonymously in the dungeon of her guild and thus be able to defeat the bosses quickly. This would help lighten his job as a receptionist a bit, but the reality is not so. Yes, in a main view this thought is somewhat absurd as the normal thing you would expect to see is protagonists with a skill as powerful as hers allowing them to become adventurers, defeat powerful monsters and travel the world. But she repeatedly mentions that she prefers her job as a receptionist (even though she complains about hit all the time) because it's "easy and safe" for her.

Recapping the plot of this anime, I must admit that it has a somewhat particular and different premise to what we already know. The fact that the protagonist of this story is a simple receptionist who loves her job and seeks to have a quiet life is practically a different point of view from what we usually see in most fantasy anime focused on male protagonists who go on adventures and become heroes. There's also the personality that Alina Clover (the protagonist) has, who is shown to us at the beginning as someone not very likable, with her temper and constant complaining about her problems at her job. This, along with her way of talking, acting and treating the adventurers has made many of those who have watched this anime at first develop a certain rejection towards her. However, after several episodes we get to know the reasons why she is like that, why she prefers to have a normal job and why she distrusts adventurers so much, even. Another thing to know about this character is her special ability, something that apparently all adventurers get in this world of magic and fantasy. In her case the ability she acquires at a certain age makes her practically invincible, as her skill is at a higher level than most adventurers have. This is something that I am not surprised to see in a protagonist, as it is a common cliché in this type of anime.

Volviendo al anime que nos compete hoy, empecemos hablando de su historia, una que nos intenta ofrecer algo diferente a lo que comúnmente ya conocemos dentro del género de fantasía. Normalmente lo que uno espera ver es la típica historia del “camino del héroe” y todo eso, pero en esta ocasión el protagonismo se lo lleva una simple joven recepcionista que intenta vivir una vida tranquila y sin peligros. Sin embargo, las horas extra en su trabajo le hacen difícil cumplir con este objetivo aparentemente sencillo que tiene. Es por eso que, gracias a una habilidad que adquiere un día y que la convierte en alguien tan poderosa que se le puede comparar a un Dios o un Demonio en este mundo medieval y fantástico; aprovecha dicha habilidad para participar de manera anónima en la mazmorra de su gremio y así poder vencer a los jefes rápidamente. Esto ayudaría a aligerar un poco su trabajo de recepcionista, pero la realidad no es así. Si, en una vista principal este pensamiento es un tanto absurdo ya que lo normal que se espera ver es que los protagonistas con una habilidad tan poderosa como la suya les permita convertirse en aventureros, vencer monstruos poderosos y viajar por el mundo. Pero repetidas veces ella nos menciona que prefiere el trabajo que tiene de recepcionista (a pesar de que se la pasa quejándose todo el tiempo) por ser algo “fácil y seguro” para ella.

Recapitulando la trama que tiene este anime debo de admitir que posee una premisa un tanto particular y diferente a lo que ya conocemos. El hecho de que el protagonismo de esta historia se lo lleve una simple recepcionista que ama su trabajo y busca tener una vida tranquila es prácticamente un punto de vista diferente a lo que normalmente vemos en la mayoría de animes de fantasía centrados en protagonistas masculinos que van de aventuras y se convierten en héroes. También está la personalidad que tiene Alina Clover (la protagonista), quien se nos muestra al principio como alguien poco agradable, con su temperamento y con sus constantes quejas sobre sus problemas en su trabajo. Esto, junto con su forma de hablar, actuar y tratar a los aventureros ha hecho que muchos de los que han visto este anime al principio desarrollen cierto rechazo hacia ella. Sin embargo, luego de varios episodios vamos conociendo las razones de por qué es así, por qué prefiere tener un trabajo normal y por qué desconfía tanto de los aventureros, incluso. Otra cosa que hay que saber de este personaje es su habilidad especial, algo que al parecer todos los aventureros obtienen en este mundo de magia y fantasía. En su caso la habilidad que adquiere a cierta edad la hace prácticamente invencible, ya que su habilidad está a un nivel superior al que tiene de la mayoría de aventureros. Esto es algo que no me sorprende ver en un protagonista, ya que es un cliché común en este tipo de animes.

I'm not saying they don't have good villains, but the absence and the mediocre development they give them make them somewhat pathetic and quite generic, personally. Going back to the humor, if this anime has humor at all, it's mostly double entendre jokes, misunderstandings, fanservice and awkward moments very typical in fantasy anime like this one.

Last but not least, let's talk about the technical and visual aspect of this anime. Produced by the famous CloverWorks studio, a studio that I suppose many of you who read me will know for animating masterpieces such as The Promise Neverland, Spy x Family and Wind Breaker. With a track record and caliber like the one they have it is normal to expect them to offer us an attractive and superior quality in terms of animation in this fantasy series, which is what we can see at least at the beginning. However, throughout the episodes it seems as if we are watching just another run-of-the-mill fantasy anime, only with its little details in terms of quality, character design, fluidity and good visual effects. But it is nothing more than the same as always, it is not a production worthy of what one already knows and expects to see from this anime house so well known in this industry. In the part of the sound effects and the soundtrack is the same, leaving aside its Opening that seems to be the only thing that stands out at the audiovisual level and its Ending that is the only thing that seems to have become popular on the internet; the background music production in this series only manages to set the scene and convey what is sought without anything else to highlight. Anyway, this is just another fantasy anime of the bunch, but with a somewhat particular premise.

Personally, I give it a rating of 7.5/10 as far as the fantasy, action and comedy genre is concerned.

Esto le da ese toque de desarrollo a este personaje. En cuanto a los villanos, no hay mucho de qué hablar ya que en varias ocasiones no se sabe mucho de estos sino hasta el final que es cuando uno queda un tanto decepcionado por la revelación y las intenciones ocultas que tienen. No digo que no tengan buenos villanos, sino que la ausencia y el desarrollo mediocre que le dan los hacen un tanto patéticos y bastante genéricos, en lo personal. Volviendo al humor, si es que tiene humor este anime, son en su mayoría chistes de doble sentido, malentendidos, fanservice y momentos incómodos muy típicos en animes de fantasía como este.

Por último, pero no menos importante, hablemos del apartado técnico y visual de este anime. Producido por el famoso estudio CloverWorks, un estudio que supongo muchos de los que me leen conocerán por animar obras maestras como The Promise Neverland, Spy x Family y Wind Breaker. Con una trayectoria y calibre como la que tiene es normal esperar que nos ofrezcan una calidad atractiva y superior en cuanto a animación en esta serie de fantasía, lo cual es lo que podemos ver al menos al principio. Sin embargo, a lo largo de los episodios parece como si viéramos un anime de fantasía más del montón, solo que con sus pequeños detalles en cuanto a calidad, diseño de personajes, fluidez y buenos efectos visuales. Pero no es más que lo mismo de siempre, no es una producción digna de lo que uno ya conoce y espera ver de esta casa animadora tan reconocida en esta industria. En la parte de los efectos de sonido y la banda sonora ocurre igual, dejando de lado su Opening que parece ser lo único bien elaboradamente destacable que tiene a nivel audiovisual y su Ending que es lo único que parece que se hizo popular en internet; la producción musical de fondo en esta serie solo consigue ambientar los escenarios y transmitir lo que se busca sin más nada por destacar. En fin, este es un anime de fantasía más del montón, pero con una premisa un tanto particular.

Personalmente, le doy una calificación de 7.5/10 en lo que respecta al género de fantasía, acción y comedia.
