Undoubtedly, it was because of its premise, which is very similar to the iconic story of Cinderella, but with its own details and differences in terms of its story and characters. What impressed me the most was not only this, but also how the story mixes romance with comedy and drama in such a well-constructed way that it leaves you completely captivated in every episode. And this is surprising, since it's almost always the opposite, with romantic scenes out of place and too many jokes or dramas. It can be said that this anime has a perfect balance, showing us exciting and also shocking scenes.

Normalmente evito hablar de este tipo de animes ya que no es de mis preferidos a reseñar, pero tampoco voy a negar que tengo un lado romántico que siempre despierta cada vez que veo una buena historia de amor. En este caso no estamos hablando de cualquier historia de amor típica que se ve en esta industria, la cual se repite en cada anime RomCom que se emite. Betrothed to My Sister's Ex trata de una historia de amor, drama y suspenso que sí vale la pena ver, sobre todo si eres un gran novelero como yo. Es cierto que en cada temporada se emiten como un par de animes de este estilo, pero este caso en particular me impactó bastante.

Indudablemente fue por su premisa, al ser muy similar a la icónica historia de Cenicienta, pero con sus detalles y diferencias en cuanto a su historia y sus personajes. Lo que más me impactó no fue solo esto, sino también cómo dicha historia mezcla romance con comedia y drama de una forma tan bien construida que no te deja para nada indiferente en ningún capítulo. Y esto es de sorprenderse ya que casi siempre es lo contrario al ver escenas románticas fuera de lugar y bromas o dramas de más. Se puede decir que este anime posee un equilibrio perfecto al mostrarnos escenas emocionantes y también impactantes.

If you don't get hooked by its premise, you're sure to be hooked by the first episode.

With her bright red hair and tall stature, her parents (a pair of good-for-nothings) constantly badmouth her and repeat how "ugly" she is. Si no te enganchas con su premisa, de seguro que lo harás viendo su primer episodio.

La hija del barón Shaderan que ha sido maltratada desde pequeña por haber nacido siendo diferente a su hermana mayor. Con su cabello rojo brillante y su alta estatura, sus padres (unos buenos para nada) se la pasan hablando mal de ella y repitiéndole cada rato al oído lo “fea” que ella es. Aparte de este maltrato psicológico, también recibe palizas y abusos físicos por cada error que comete. Porque sí, aparte de todo lo que le dicen, ella es la que realiza casi todas las labores que, se supone, debería hacer su padre como barón de la familia Shaderan. Como dije antes, no es una novedad ver animes con la premisa de Cenicienta, pero creo que muy pocas generan tanto impacto desde el principio como lo hace esta joyita. Con solo mencionar algunos detalles, la historia no solo trata de una chica que ha sido maltratada desde pequeña por su padres, sino que también habla de cómo su primer amor es envuelto en una red de malentendidos, conspiraciones y problemas políticos y sociales. Eso sin mencionar que también tiene sus elementos de suspenso y misterio como lo es el paradero de Anastasia, lo que oculta la familia Shaderan y lo que de verdad ocurrió en ese incidente.

I would also like to mention that it is a complete story, meaning that by the end of the twelve episodes, we see a perfect conclusion to the story. This is good if you don't want to watch an anime that has barely aired and has a conclusion that has not even been confirmed to be adapted in the future. I say this because I have also suffered a lot with this when watching an anime that ends in the middle of the best part and, to top it off, doesn't even have a second season confirmed.

Another thing about this anime that I'm sure the romance lovers among my readers will love is the theme of romance itself. The relationship we see between Marie and Kyros is one of the purest and most innocent you'll find in this industry. Although this is a far cry from what we see at the beginning with Marie's difficult relationship with her parents or Kyros's relationship with other women, I personally think it's a perfect combination to give the story that bittersweet feeling. There are also funny moments with somewhat innocent humor, but it's not absurd at all. Obviously, none of this overshadows what we see in the rest of the story.

En resumen, este anime consigue ofrecernos una historia que nos mantendrá enganchado desde el primer minuto hasta el final. Aparte de esto, también posee un ritmo para nada lento ni tampoco muy acelerado con giros de trama y momentos impactantes que valen mucho la pena ver. También me gustaría mencionar que es una historia completa, es decir, que hasta el final de los doce episodios vemos un cierre perfecto para dicha historia. Esto es bueno si no quieres ver un anime que apenas se emitió y que tiene una conclusión que aún ni se ha confirmado que se adaptará en el futuro. Lo digo porque yo también he sufrido mucho con esto al ver un anime que termina en medio de la mejor parte y para colmo no tiene una segunda temporada confirmada siquiera.

Otra cosa que tiene este anime y que seguramente a los noveleros que me leen les encantará es el tema del romance en sí. La relación que veremos de Marie con Kyros es de las más puras e inocentes que podrán encontrarse en esta industria. Esto, si bien se aleja mucho de lo que vemos al principio con la dura relación que tiene Marie con sus padres o el mismo Kyros con otras mujeres, en lo personal opino que es una combinación perfecta para darle esa sensación agridulce a la historia. También hay momentos graciosos con un humor un tanto inocente, pero tampoco absurdo en lo absoluto. Obviamente, todo esto no opaca para nada lo que vemos en el resto de su historia.

However, he is a character who fulfills the role of being Marie's support from the beginning.

There are also secondary characters who attract attention in one way or another, such as Anastasia. On the other hand, there are characters you will hate from the very first minute, which need not even be mentioned at this point. Before finishing, let's talk about the audiovisual aspect of this anime. Produced by an apparently new animation studio, I consider this adaptation to be of excellent quality for a low-budget work. The character designs, the bright and vivid color palette, the use of light and shadow, the details, and the visual effects are the most noteworthy aspects. But nothing compares to the soundtrack, which elevates everything we see to its maximum splendor. In short, this is a perfect anime for all romance fans.

Personally, I give it a 8.5/10 rating in terms of the romance, drama, and suspense genres.

En cuanto a los personajes, considero que el que más llama la atención es la protagonista principal, Marie, y por muy obvias razones. Sin embargo, es un personaje que cumple con ser ese apoyo que tiene Marie desde el principio.

También hay personajes secundarios que llaman la atención de alguna u otra manera, como es el caso de Anastasia. Por otro lado, están los personajes que odiarás desde el primer minuto, del cual no hace falta ni mencionarlos a estas alturas. Antes de finalizar, hablemos ahora del apartado audiovisual que tiene este anime. A cargo de un estudio de animación aparentemente nuevo, considero que esta adaptación tiene una excelente calidad para ser una obra de bajo presupuesto. Los diseños de los personajes, la paleta de colores vivos y brillantes, el uso de luces y sombras, los detalles y efectos visuales son de lo más destacable. Pero nada comparado con su banda sonora, la cual eleva todo lo que vemos a su máximo esplendor. En fin, este es un anime perfecto para todo novelero.

Personalmente, le doy una calificación de 8.5/10 en lo que respecta al género de romance, drama y suspenso.
