Tenkū no Shiro Laputa (ESP/ENG) Review

True to my commitment to watch all the Ghibli filmography, today I continue with the reviews, in this case it was the turn of The Castle in the Sky, which, as you may already know in case you have seen it, has caused much controversy due to the pronunciation of a word that in Latin America and Spain is quite foul, so it is terribly hilarious when people mention it, which is quite often, in fact there are many memes about it, but without further ado I invite you to read this review to understand what it's all about.
Fiel a mi compromiso de ver toda la filmografía de Ghibli, hoy continuo con las reviews, en este caso fue el turno de El Castillo en el Cielo, el cual, como ya debes saber en caso de haberla visto, ha causado mucha controversia debido a la pronunciación de una palabra que en Latinoamérica y España resulta bastante soez, así que resulta terriblemente hilarante cuando los personas la mencionan, lo cual es bastante seguido, de hecho hay muchos memes al respecto, pero sin más dilación los invito a leer esta review para entender de qué se trata.
Overview/Resumen
The story begins when Pazu is about to take food to his boss in the mine where they both worked, when suddenly he sees a girl fall from the sky (sheeta), but its way of falling was very stylized, almost as if it were a feather, he takes her in his arms and takes her straight to his house to protect her. When she wakes up he discovers everything that has been happening with her, is that in reality the girl was fleeing from two opposing sides: the pirates and the army, as both want to seize a powerful stone that she has in her possession and that is what curiously makes her “float”. She is actually the heir to the throne of the kingdom of a very curious island (and here comes the funny name) Laputa, 🤣 😂 this island had a very advanced civilization but also has a tremendous source of power that could be very destructive, so if it fell into the wrong hands it would be a disaster.
La historia inicia cuando Pazu se dispone a llevar comida para su jefe en la mina donde ambos trabajaban, cuando de pronto ve caer una niña del cielo (sheeta), pero su forma de caer era muy estilizada, casi como si fuese una pluma, él la toma en brazos y la lleva directo a su casa para resguardarla. Cuando ella despierta él descubre todo lo que ha estado sucediendo con ella, es que en realidad la niña estaba huyendo de dos bandos opuestos: los piratas y el ejército, ya que ambos quieren apoderarse de una poderosa piedra que ella tiene en su poder y que es lo que curiosamente la hace “flotar”. Ella en realidad es la heredera al trono del reino de una isla muy curiosa (y aquí viene el nombre gracioso) Laputa, 🤣 😂 esta isla tuvo una civilización muy avanzada pero también tiene una tremenda fuente de poder que podría resultar muy destructiva, por lo tanto si caía en manos equivocadas sería un desastre.

My Opinion/Mi Opinión
Laputa's hilarious joke aside, the story, like all of Ghibli's, shows us a clear example of perseverance and resilience, a society that has been sullied by the mismanagement of power, a greedy generation that only wants to grab the riches, but also an innocent soul with a great desire to maintain the beautiful legacy of the floating island.
Dejando a un lado el hilarante chiste de Laputa, la historia, al igual que todas las de Ghibli nos muestra un claro ejemplo de perseverancia y resiliencia, una sociedad que ha sido mancillada por la mala gestión del poder, una generación avara que solo desea apoderarse de las riquezas, pero también de un alma inocente con un gran deseo de mantener el legado hermoso de la isla flotante.
On the other hand I loved the way the story was handled, with a strong character development, on the one hand we have the frightened Sheeta who ended up discovering her power by accepting that she was the only one who could protect the legacy of the island, on the other hand we have her friend Pazu, who went from being an apprentice miner to a hero, and most surprising of all were the pirates, who despite being brawlers had more moral codes than the army and knew how to be grateful, helping Pazu and Sheeta when they needed it.
Por otra parte me encantó la forma en la que llevaron la historia, con un marcado desarrollo de personajes, por un lado tenemos a la asustadiza Sheeta que terminó descubriendo su poder al aceptar que era la única que podía proteger el legado de la isla, por otro lado tenemos a su amigo Pazu, que pasó de ser un aprendiz de minero a un héroe, y lo más sorprendente de todo fueron los piratas, que a pesar de ser pendencieros tenían más códigos morales que el ejército y supieron ser agradecidos, ayudando a Pazu y Sheeta cuando lo necesitaron.
Unfortunately Laputa was partially destroyed but at least they could prove its existence and also, most importantly, they could prevent someone from taking advantage of its power to do evil, which leads me to delve into some hypotheses in real life, hypotheses that might sound like conspiracies but after all there are many things of our own world that we still do not know and that could be both chilling and fascinating 😏.
Lamentablemente Laputa quedó parcialmente destruida pero al menos pudieron comprobar su existencia y además, lo más importante, pudieron evitar que alguien aprovechara su poder para hacer el mal, lo cuál me lleva a profundizar en algunas hipótesis en la vida real, hipótesis que tal vez podrían llegar a sonar como conspiracioncitas pero al fin y al cabo hay muchas cosas de nuestro propio mundo que aún no conocemos y que podrían resultar tanto escalofriantes como fascinantes 😏.
And finally I would like to mention the participation of the robot, I found it very tender, he also contributed his strength and vitality to protect Sheeta and the island as much as he could, he was perhaps the last resource of self-defense of that civilization that somehow lasted in time.
Y por último me gustaría mencionar la participación del robot, me pareció muy tierno, él también aportó su fuerza y vitalidad para proteger cuanto pudo a Sheeta y a la isla, fue quizá el último recurso de autodefensa de esa civilización que de cierta manera perduró en el tiempo.

Sí, totalmente de acuerdo contigo. Cuando vi "El Castillo en el Cielo" por primera vez, no podía parar de reírme cada vez que mencionaban el nombre de la isla. Pero más allá de las risas, la película es una joya, como casi todo lo de Ghibli. Me encantó cómo Pazu y Sheeta van creciendo juntos y cómo los piratas, que al principio parecen los malos, terminan siendo más buena gente que el ejército. Es una historia súper bonita sobre la amistad, la valentía y cómo el poder puede corromper, buena reseña!
Exactamente y fíjate que los que estaban enfermos de ansias de poder eran los adultos, mientras que los niños inocentes veían la belleza de la isla y la apreciaban como tal. Muchas gracias por leer y comentar 😉.
Como fan de One Piece necesito ver esta pelicula, porque se sabe que Oda tomó inspiracion de algunas cosas de ella. Siempre ha estado en la lista de cosas por ver, pero nunca lo hago haha

Yes, only Spanish speakers understand the joke 😄, it's really hilarious, but leaving that aside, your story is very beautiful and is proof that children do not know about ambitions and therefore do not allow themselves to be corrupted by power.
