Yellow and Blue on the walk for rapeseed

Hello Hello Hivians, spring and summer are so colourful that I just wanted to put on the blockchain some gorgeous yellows before I forget!

I try to participate in the Wednesday Walk challenge most weeks. Today is a walk or more of a journey to Edinburgh.

The photographs are all captured on the 6th of May 2025.

The time was around 8am ish

I mentioned in the title about yellows and blues

The blues of course refer to the sky.

In pops a cheeky wee bridge.

image.png

It must be said it is probably my most favourite bridge in the whole world!

image.png

Now we come to the yellow!

image.png

Yellow and blue as a colour combination is in my top three!

Bright colourful and cheery!

image.png

So when the rapeseed is waiting to be harvested it is a delight to see!

image.png

And also something I wanted on the blockchain as a walk.

image.png

I remember a few years ago when people raved about the high omega 3 that rapeseed oil contained, that people flocked in their droves to buy rapeseed oil.

image.png

But it was just vegetable oil

image.png

When you buy vegetable oil you are getting rapeseed oil and it was much cheaper.

image.png

I am not sure if there was a redress in the price differential or not!

image.png

But it is fluffing gorgeous to look at.

image.png

It is also local and so good for the environment!

What's your cooking oil of choice?

image.png

Cheers everyone!

I hope you enjoyed our little adventure!

This post is for #wednesdaywalk which was inspired by @tattoodjay

Thanks for visiting and I hope you managed to get out for a walk this week.

I think now they are saying this kind of oil isn't good for you. It's funny how they change their stance every other week on every other thing. It still looks like a great walk though!

Yeah it is interesting hearing and reading what goes on with you guys. George Bernard Shaw's saying of.. joined by a common language but separated by culture is so often very true.
Mrs T has a video call on Sunday with her family back home, and it is great to hear some of what is going on there. Your rapeseed oil is actually canola oil and is much more intensively processed to produce it. Both sets of health authorities don't seem to have a problem with seed oils. The amount of sugars and salts in processed foods are far more concerning.
Personally I think things are good for you if taken in moderation.

We try to stick with olive oil and avocado oil. Those have become staples in our pantry over the years. It's hard to find good information from a trusted source these days!

Yeah it is hard knowing what to do or believe, because there is a down side to almost everything. The demand and price of avocados means huge deforestation and illegal burning and clearing in Mexico and Columbia.
When we lived in Spain it was olive oil all the way as we lived amongst olive trees and would get oil at a cheap price.
Here it went through the roof!

These are beautiful photos taken on your journey to Edinburgh. No doubt, they look stunning.
My favourite vegetable oil is 'Kings' because they are pure and taste good. But I don't use them much except red oil called palm oil which is more beneficial for the health.

But there was a touch of white in the walk. 😅
All photos are stunning that I found it hard to choose one.
About favorite vegetable oil I'll go with Mamador. It's actually nice and tastes good.

Gorgeous blue and yellow!!

What are the other two combinations in your top three, Super Ed? Blue and what? jeje

What's your cooking oil of choice?

Olive oil, better cold pressed and I try to not cook it at high temperatures. Did you know that now experts say that it is not very good to consume vegetable oils? Yes, I know experts change of mind often LOL but times change and medical opinions too hehe and for some time now I avoid as much as possible vegetable oils that are not cold pressed as olive oil ;)

So, let’s talk about oil 😄
From my experience, olive oil pairs best with cheese and prosciutto, or with fresh tomato and mozzarella – a classic Mediterranean combo.
For cooking, I use sunflower or canola oil.
I love using pumpkin seed oil on salads – it is used strictly cold.
And the landscape is great. Really great photos.
It reminded me of a time when I was driving through a village where they grew sunflowers for oil. An indescribable sight. As far as you can see, sunflowers stand like an army (as corny and worn-out as that sounds). Unfortunately, I didn't have a camera, and that was before smartphones.

Yellow is my favorite color in the world!!!! Then green. So I am fascinated with your photos because yellow and green abound. For my age, I should be consuming amega 3, but in Venezuela it is very expensive. My favorite oil is olive oil for salad dressing, but I have discovered the delicious flavor that sesame oil gives to meals. They are, with some garlic and ginger, with the flavor of Asian foods. A delight! A yellow hug for you, Ed!

Olive oil i use for salad dressings and sesame oil i do cook with when I make some Asian dishes. Also coconut and peanut oil. But for the run of a mill cooking, if not butter then a wee bit of rapeseed oil.
I know you like yellow hehe, I have the blue you have the green. A big yellow hug today Nancy :)

The yellow patches inside the greenery. : )

you can enjoy the beaty of the rapeseed farm, before it bottled up and used in the cooking.

🌼 That yellow rapeseed field against the blue sky is just stunning! Nature really knows how to pull off a color palette. But, as for cooking oil, I’m team cold-pressed coconut, but now you’ve got me curious about giving rapeseed a go.

Aha well coconuts you have a plenty. So I like to support things local, hence the rapeseed oil. Nature is the best, I keep telling people that she is the best thing in this Universe that gives you things for free.

Those rapeseed fields are beautiful, what awesome pictures! Just fields of yellow everywhere, along with the blue sky, nicely done. And the oil is healthy too as a bonus! That bridge actually is pretty, any idea how old it is? It looks like an older design for sure.

The world heritage site Forth Bridge, it is a rail bridge and was opened in 1890. Yes will make a proper post on it.

The color combination looks very pretty; I love the blues of the sky.
Here in Venezuela, we call rapeseed "canola." I read online that a variety is grown in some parts of the country. The oil I use at home is corn oil. Thanks for sharing, dear @tengolotodo. A big hug from Maracay.
