Satisfying stroll along Kirkcaldy Promenade beach

Hello Hello Hivians

I try to participate in the Wednesday Walk challenge most weeks. Today is no exception, although we are back to last Saturday for this walk.

Satisfying stroll along Kirkcaldy Promenade beach.png

image.png

The weather ... typically Scottish summer weather, rain, grey cloud, blue sky and white cloud with any permutation possible!

As the title says we are strolling along the beach at Kirkcaldy Promenade

image.png

That in itself is quite unusual.

Low tide

When the tide is in it comes right up to the sea wall and over the rocks on the right of the picture!

Derelict carparks

Kirkcaldy is called the Lang Toun or long town as it has one heck of a long shape to it and promenade.

The concrete monsters you see are derelict and we have won some government funding. Allegedly things will be regenerated!

image.png

But low tide means we can walk on the sand as opposed to te Promenade itself.

This is not my regular beach so it is treat. We can though walk along to Seafield beach from here which is my regualar beach and is indeed what we did! More of that next week...

image.png

Mini sand bars. The difference on this mass of sand is the ridges or bars which we often don't get on other parts of the coast.

You have to watch your walking style so you don't absent mindedly trip when you are looking for things!

image.png

Of course the seagulls have no problems like that.

image.png

The float, fly or whatever the fluff they want to do!

image.png

Do you recognise this?

image.png

Jelly fish!

Turned out there was loads of them.

image.png

I later was on a couple of our town facebook groups and people were posting pictures of thousands of them in the water.

image.png

Some of them have the pretty pink rings!

image.png

Blue aqua shoes and white legs!

So when I know the weather is warm and we are going looking for things on the beach I will don my aqua shoes and go paddling!

Blinded by the light and fluff yes, sunglasses were worn 🤣

image.png

Mrs T was hollering from a few yards away so I paddled to see what it was!

A Scottish jellyfish with the St Andrews cross on it!

image.png

Do you see it?

image.png

I tried to zoom in and get a good picture when ...

image.png

... it had fluffing vanished!

image.png

However patience is a virtue!

I found it after a couple of minutes scouring the water!

image.png

More of Mrs T's hollerings!

"Ed Ed look what I have fluffing found!!!" exclaimed a very excited Mrs T!

image.png

Can you guess what it is ?

image.png

Cheers everyone!

I hope you enjoyed our little adventure!

I have to love you and leave you as I need to get my arse to the hospital pdq for the second of my shingles vaccinations!

This post is for #wednesdaywalk which was inspired by @tattoodjay

Thanks for visiting and I hope you managed to get out for a walk this week.

that looks like a crab , not sure but a wild guess , jelly fish only get on beach some times and they sting ...

Hehe not a crab, but it is edible...
We had thousands recently, so quite a few washed up on the beach. They were mostly small although there were a couple of the big deadly Lions Manes ones further up the beach.

Jellyfish scare the crap out of me. I was always afraid I was going to get stung by one when I was a kid. We only visited the ocean a couple of times, so it was pretty silly.

Hehe I grew up on the coast and remember swimming as a kid in the sea when they swam past you!
I never did get stung, but now there are some iffy buggers swimming around, I am thinking of the Lions Mane and there was one washed up on the beach I normally walk along. They are much much bigger and sting like hell!

Those jellyfish look so cute... With a different design, but dangerous for some. Nice Wednesday walk, btw. 😍

Oh no! The jellyfish looks transparently beautiful but is dangerous. I think Mrs. T found a crab?
I also walk on a black sandy beach barefoot and then in rubber slippers.

Here they are called “aguamala” to jellyfish and I know how hard they sting. They usually appear when the water is very cold. It is not recommended to swim in the beaches when there are many jellyfish, it can be dangerous. Here they arrive at this time of the year when there is a lot of rain and the sea gets cold. I like those blue shoes. Thanks for this walk, Ed. A Wednesday hug.

Yes swimming is not really a good idea when they are around in great numbers, one or two is allright. It never stopped me swimming as a kid. But this year I saw pictures of thousands of them, you could not see the sea!
A big jelly hug Nancy :)

They stings can hurt but are rarely deadly, although for some of the big jellyfish like Lions Mane they can be!

I won't go near any jellyfish🥵. I've seen how badly they stung😬. Maybe inside the aquarium I can look at them longer😌. The sand looks pretty with what looks like tiny stairs.😌

Ah I like the tiny stairs maganda that is a good description for them!

How many jellyfish, we are struggling to look at them but not touch them, they cause picazon on the skin. Low tides make beautiful shapes in the sand.
The important thing about the walk is that you enjoyed it with Mrs. "T" and you shared some beautiful photos. A hug. 🤗🥰

Hello again, @tengolotodo.

Can you guess what it is?

I guess Mrs. T found a cuttlefish/mollusk. Am I right?

In my recollection, when I was a kid, my grandfather always took me fishing on weekends. That was his hobby. In the Philippines, jellyfish are feared because they can be fatal if stung. Their stings range from mild irritation to life-threatening reactions. I have a boyish nature and I love playing with them because I enjoy their color. Usually, the jellyfish I see have a blue crown. My grandfather always scolds me because of my stubbornness.🤣 By the way, you can see a lot of jellyfish during the summer in the Philippines.

Hehe it is not a cuttlefish, I will show a picture when I make a post about them.

Oh yes when we were kids we were the same, I would even swim with some, but there were not that many. When I knew there was a shoal of them, then never would I swim with them.

I was stung by a couple of them. It was okay. That was when you would get punished at school by beatings with a cane and things so a jellyfish sting was okay🤣
