Getting paid to feed the whale
Hello Hello Hivians
It's Wednesday and the weather has been gorgeously sunny and a cool 24C which is just about the right temperature I would say. If I had that each day of the year I would be a happy chappy!
Talking of happy chappies, I came across some more on my walk this afternoon.
Today is more about the finds than the park itself
We are kicking off with the modified peace memorial. They ripped up the bushes that were here and were a hit with loads of bees, to be replaced with a handful of poxy flowers!
Beveridge Park Peace Memorial
This is the park where Charles and Camilla landed in their helicopter last week as part of their visit to our wee toon!
Look around you on a walk ...
This mushroom looks like it has been used as a golf ball from outer space as beat up as it looks!
There was another one standing tall and proud that managed to shove the discarded plastic aside.
note that plastic is now residing in a bin in the park.
Feeding Time
Some of you will know that I use some of my Hive rewards to buy bird and animal food the birds and animals in this park.
Being that it is only a five minute walk I feel it is the least I can do.
Do you see this sign around the pond, there are two of them ...
Clearly states
NO FISHING
Q What did we see today?
A This fcuking fish lure
Not only should the arseholes not be fishing, that hook could injure a bird, one of the many dogs that run around in the grass, or a wee bairn!
The coot was not amused!
Do you know that these coots are the most feared birds on the pond. They defend their territory and will go after seagulls without batting an eyelid...
See it's beak? It's fluffing sharp, unlike a duck's bill and they use it like a wee dagger when needed!
Mum feeding the wee ones...
One thing about coots that is cute is the adult will hold food in it's beak and give it to it's young.
Look at this mamma she has two little duck and swan food pellets in her mouth and she will hand beak feed to the little one beside her!
Getting paid for good work!
Who am I kidding, I turned around and found this 20 pence piece on the ground.
Well why not and into my pocket it went!
Now it was the turn of the Scout.
With Mrs T's Native American blood in her, I call her the Scout as she has a great eye for spotting things...
First up ... Nipples
She calls these pointy mushrooms like that Nipples from the ground!
I have to point out that these three photographs were all captured within about a 2 yard radius!
Ladybird or Ladybug?
We say Ladybird, what do you say?
I think bugs are generally not fun and good, so I prefer the Ladybird name to Ladybug!
The wee King himself the humble bumblebee
They love clover and really get to work, not even bothered by my interloping!
The last find of the day!
A whale!
It could almost be the @ecency whale ... What do you think?
Personally I took it as a lucky omen from the Scout as it is her birthday tomorrow!
I hope you had fun looking at our wee finds for the day!
This post is for #wednesdaywalk which was inspired by @tattoodjay
Thanks for visiting and I hope you managed to get out for a walk this week.
All images and ramblings are from me, the mad Scotsman TengoLoTodo unless otherwise stated. Note images are all snapped by me with my Google Pixel 9 XL Pro smartphone on Wednesday July 2nd 2025 and some were used in canva to make the lead image.

True! Tomorrow is Mrs. T's birthday!!! What are you planning to do to celebrate? Today's walk was full of excellent finds. Did you know that ladybugs can be in some cultures, symbols of good luck. Although my grandmother, who was indigenous, said never to take a coin from the street because they serve to transfer bad energies. I don't think that's the case here: how Queen Elizabeth will serve for such a plebeian action. The coin, the ladybug and the whale are signs of good things for you. A ladybug hug, Ed
Do you know here we think of ladybirds as good luck items, and finding a coin (it used to be a penny) was good luck. The bad luck was if you left a penny on the ground.
Isn't it funny how we have different customs based on the same thing!
Well the hydrotheraphy got cancelled. I got a call while we were enroute that the pool was closed!
We still went to Dunfermline though and did some charity shopping and things.
Haha, such a sweet whale, and all the animals from the walk too! Thanks for those photos, they were lovely to see.
Yeah I did chuckle when I saw the whale, and it had to come home with us!
Thank you and have a wonderful day :)
Nice find on the coin, free money! To bad they have been fishing and then leaving a lure around, idiots live just about everywhere. Looks like a nice walk you had there, you even found some pointy mushrooms! lol
Hehe free money, a pity it wasn't some valuable silver coin, but still better than a kick in the teeth!
Yeah idiots are everywhere, sad to say. It's always fun out, hard to believe the park is only a five minute walk away!
How much is 20 pence worth? Is that like a quarter?
Yeah more or less a quarter in value, I think at today's rate it is approx 27 cents.
Gotcha!
Your walk turned out to be very interesting. I see how much you care about caring for these species and, above all, feeding them. A lovely gesture. Here in Cuba, we also say "ladybugs" and "cotorritas" (parakeets). Many of them used to be abundant, but they've become somewhat extinct. Perhaps they've emigrated, like people. Your photos are very beautiful. @tengolotodo I wish you a happy Thursday.😘
Thanks @mamani if we can, then I think we should help who we can, whether it is animals or people. It gives me joy seeing them eat and come running when they see me!
Have a wonderful weekend over there in Cuba :)
That is one vicious looking hook for sure!
Yea, would have done some damage to someone. Vet bills here have got out of hand, so last thing you need is taking your dog to the vets with a fcking nasty hook barbed into its paw.
Not good, for the hound, not good for the pocket.
All very true
👍
You tell us so many things 😊
But for the 20 pence, hmmm. That must be your pay😀
The that mushroom really look like it has really been us in the other world.
Just have a nice day
Thank you, it is always fun saying what things are. We live all over the world so sometimes we don't know what things are in foreign countries :)
Those little coots don't look little to me. They are almost the same size as their mother. I wonder if they cannot take their own food and still need to feed them😬😁.
Hehe they grow really quick and I think they are like teenagers, imagine spoon feeding your two girls when they were teenagers 🤣
Happy Birthday to Mrs T!! I hope you both have a wonderful day together 💙
Hehe!!! You found a good luck charm on your walk, Super Ed. Keep the 20 pence in your pocket for good luck and prosperity ;) even if you don't need it, Lucky Ed 😜😆
The little whale that Mrs. T found is a cutie. 🐳💙
Thank you Super Eli, well yesterday turned out great. But they cancelled my hydrotheraphy. As we were boarding the bus to the other town where it is held, they phoned to say the pool was closed!
Well we went there anyway and she had some fun charity shopping. Today we were on the beach in our mini heatwave we are having!
The whale was a cutie, have a wonderful weekend Super Eli 💙
So. You're basically an anonymous hero for this creatures. My friend, I'm not a believer but if such a things as God could exist, you have earned yourself an entry to Heaven. I thank you for everything
Thank you, but it is a little thing and gives me fun too and my wife now as well lol!
