Wednesday Walk St Marys Cemetery

Wednesday Walk St Marys Cemetery

This post if for Wednesday walk challenge
Any questions about the challenge read the guide at the Bottom of the post ;)

As I mentioned on Monday I took a walk around St Marys Cemetery one morning recently and thought i would share a fw color shots from that walk today.

IT was a spur of the moment decision to walk here, I had been to another spot for a sunrise walk and was lacking drive and didnt get as many steps in as normal on that walk, and I just wasnt motivated so I jumped in the csar to drive to the supermarket as I needed to pick up some things, when I got near tot he supermarket I realised I was way early and it wasnt due to open for 25 minutes so I turned right into the cemetery across a road from the supermarket and parked,

This is one of the fee walks int he last few weeks where there was enough light i didnt need my tripod, so just grabbed my camera and off I went and here are a few shots from that walk

On one of the roads as you can see its very nicely laid out and well maintained

A headstone for Googin Bannon, I should have checked the other side to see if it had a date, but with the wear I would dsay its pretty old

A nice headstone

Which gets me thinking, I know many want to be buried in a nice cemetery, but thats not really my wish, when the time comes I would like to be cremated and have my ashes poured into water somewhere, whether it be an ocean or a river, then if any of my loved ones want to think of me or visit me they do not need to go to a cemetery but anywhere by the water will do, it fits me as walks by the water are always my favortites and most relaxing

a more simply yet eye catchign headstone

now even though this one doesnt have a date on when I walk through a cemetery I often look at the names and dates and wonder how their life was

Wednesday Walk is a challenge started by me, the idea is to get out for a short walk and get some shots of what you can see within a short distance of your home office or wherever you start. And this is my entry for this week, but first, let me explain the challenge.

This is my post for the Wednesday Walk challenge hosted by myself, let me first explain the guidelines

Try and get out once a week for a short walk, can be from your office, home or anywhere really and walk for a few blocks or a few minutes looking for things to get shots of.

Your walk does not have to be on a Wednesday I just ask if possible to share your walk photos on a Wednesday.

Try and get a few shots not just one

Add a bit of a write up about where you walked

Just one Wednesday Walk tagged post a week

You can look for anything in general or decide on one subject you want to get shots off.

Make a point of looking around and up and see what you can find to get shots of that otherwise you may miss

Do a post with the shots you get on a Wednesday and tag it with #wednesdaywalk, also if you happen to join, please leave a link to your post in a comment on this post and I will try and visit them all, especially if its not one of the first 5 tags or I may miss seeing it .

Following me and re-Hiving the post so more see it would be appreciated but isn't a rule just a suggestion.

I am not strict on these rules and hence why they are called guidelines and not rules

I will try and visit, and upvote all who take part in the Wednesday Walk.

I hope a few of you may find this an interesting challenge and decide to join in.

unless stated otherwise all photos used in my posts are taken and owned by myself, if you wish to use any of my images please contact me.

Good morning, Mr. @tattoodjay

Whenever you show us photographs of the cemetery, what strikes me most is how well-maintained it is. I like the natural beauty there.

My grandfather Luis also thinks like you. He also wants to be cremated and have his ashes scattered in a river or in nature.

Beautiful photos you took on your walk.

Have a beautiful day.

It always amazes me how quickly headstones begin to weather on the east coast. Out of curiosity I looked up Goggin Bannon, she only died in 1969 yet the marker looks much older!!

Such great pictures, it looks like an older cemetery but they maintain it nicely. I bet it's a peaceful place for a walk, and the tombstones make for an interesting view. I always wonder who those people were in life, and makes you appreciate still being alive!

I mentioned to you once that I find cemeteries fascinating and mysterious. I have written many stories about them, and these images are spectacular. They convey peace, beauty, and calm to me. What a unique and beautiful walk. I love it! I think I will also bring walks in cemeteries!

I share that posthumous wish too. Cemeteries feel so cold, even when they're beautiful or have something that makes them stand out… and yes, I know worms have to eat, but the thought of them eating me gives me the creeps hahaha… better to speed up the process and return to the earth as ashes.

The road that leads to the cemetery really looks very well taken care of, how good that they have very well care of the cemetery. The photos were beautiful and super sharp, you are a very good photographer.
and thank you for encouraging us to publish on Wednesdays with this initiative that is your property.

It makes sense what you say about your last wish.

As I was looking at your post, I actually got mixed feelings though.

At first, I thought to myself that a cemetery is actually one of the most peaceful places t go for a walk. But as soon as I thought that, I got frustrated, because here by us you can't dare to go to a cemetery as you immediately become a target to get robbed. We've even had cases where people got robbed while they were busy putting their loved ones to rest.

The criminals in this country has free reign to do as they please!

Anyhow, enough negativity! Sorry about that. Your photos are amazing as always. Some really nice stones here. And it really looks so peaceful!

Thanks for sharing this walk with us!

Thats sad you cant walk inthe cemeteries there, reminds me how fortunate i am to live where I do

Hey no need for sorry sadly negativity is all aroundm, there are areas here I will not walk especially in the dark as they are shady people in those areas, its part oflife

Have a good one

Cemeteries have a quiet kind of beauty to them—especially when they’re as well cared for as this one. I really liked your thoughts about choosing water as a final resting place; it’s deeply personal and poetic, and somehow feels more free. Whenever someone ask me between wedding and funeral I always choose the latter. It is to honor the order of life.

Absolutely beautiful pictures from the cemetery. There's just some amazing mystique about cemeteries, the place human bodies integrate back into earth peacefully over time.
Being claustrophobic, I think cremation would be a good option for me to integrate back into nature better/faster.
As always thank you for sharing and do enjoy Thursday ahead :}

Yes I had not thought of that but for claustrophobic people the thought of being buried must be horrible

I’ve been to a cemetery before, but your photos make it look so peaceful and calm. It doesn’t feel scary at all, just nice to look at. I also like your idea about cremation and being near the water — it feels more free and natural

That shot with the wide view is stunning. There’s something peaceful about walking on cemeteries like this, I've tried once. Your thought about throwing the ashes in the water is a smart idea, I thought people who do that are doing it just as usual, but I think each ways have meanings for them.

I see it is a prompt from the community. What a lovely walk. You have captivating photos. Who would have thought it was a cemetery? Here in my country, public cemeteries do not look as organized as this. However, private cemeteries do. Have a nice time!
