Wednesday Walk in Fort Taber
the best laid plans of mice and men
This post if for Wednesday walk challenge
Any questions about the challenge read the guide at the Bottom of the post ;)
You may wonder about why I started this post with "The best laid plans of mice and men"
Well that came to mind as this week I wanted to share a walk at somewhere different from a lot of my recent walks which have either been at the fort or the port, and headed out early a couple of mornings to try other spots I have been to before but not this year, one being Round Hill Beach in Dartmouth, I drove the half hour there to find the road that gives access tot he beach was closed with gates, which i had never experienced before, another day I went to Jones Beach also in Dartmouth, and again the access to the beach gates were closed, so alas I'm back to sharing shots from Fort Taber again this week
then I thought about the saying and how it originates and found this online
The phrase "the best laid plans of mice and men" originates from the 1785 poem To a Mouse by the Scottish poet Robert Burns, in which the original line reads: "The best-laid schemes o’ mice an’ men / Gang aft a-gley".
This means that even the most carefully made plans often go wrong or "go awry" due to unforeseen circumstances
OK now onto the photos
this first shot is a spot near the old Fort where i often do light painting with these trees in the background, after I finished light painting i took this shot

and this is looking ta the fort from a similar spot

I often share shots on the sandy beach in the fort, this is the other side of the pier from that beach

and a shot looking over the beach from the pier, this is just after the Hurricane which fortunately turned up the coats and didn't really impact us either than high waves and wind, which brought a lot of sea weed and such onto the beach

that morning was the first time i noticed this sign on the pier, a cool way they have to monitor and beach, I did take a shot with my phone through that panel on top of the fence and share it

Wednesday Walk is a challenge started by me, the idea is to get out for a short walk and get some shots of what you can see within a short distance of your home office or wherever you start. And this is my entry for this week, but first, let me explain the challenge.
This is my post for the Wednesday Walk challenge hosted by myself, let me first explain the guidelines
Try and get out once a week for a short walk, can be from your office, home or anywhere really and walk for a few blocks or a few minutes looking for things to get shots of.
Your walk does not have to be on a Wednesday I just ask if possible to share your walk photos on a Wednesday.
Try and get a few shots not just one
Add a bit of a write up about where you walked
Just one Wednesday Walk tagged post a week
You can look for anything in general or decide on one subject you want to get shots off.
Make a point of looking around and up and see what you can find to get shots of that otherwise you may miss
Do a post with the shots you get on a Wednesday and tag it with #wednesdaywalk, also if you happen to join, please leave a link to your post in a comment on this post and I will try and visit them all, especially if its not one of the first 5 tags or I may miss seeing it .
Following me and re-Hiving the post so more see it would be appreciated but isn't a rule just a suggestion.
I am not strict on these rules and hence why they are called guidelines and not rules
I will try and visit, and upvote all who take part in the Wednesday Walk.

That is a pretty cool program they have to monitor the beach. I wish one of our local beaches had something like that. People are always complaining that it is a hot mess.
Yeah I thought it was a great idea it must be pretty new as I had never noticed it before
have a good one
Thanks, you too!
Good morning, dear friend @tattoodjay
It's a shame you weren't able to get to the place you were planning to visit twice.
This area of the city is beautiful; the sunrises there are gorgeous.
Excellent shots.
Have a beautiful day.
Thanks yeah I do enjoy the spots I often visit but want to try some other spots now and again so my posts do not get boring
Hello Mr. @tattoodjay, good morning.
It's like you said, we often make plans, but fate has something else in mind for us.
What beautiful and colorful photographs.
Have a beautiful morning.
yes and no point getting upset when plans change just make the most of them ;)
Yes, things often don't go as planned! Then we just have to adjust and make the best of it, and you have done that well.
That is an interesting way of monitoring the beach, and I love how they get the public involved. This is the first time I've seen something like this.
exactly adjust and make the best of it, not point in letting things like this get us down
Yeah I thought that way of monitoring the beach was great and must be new I had not seen it before
😊👍

I loved the reference to the poem. I thought the title was strange, but then I saw your walk and said... total wonder among colours, buildings and water. It couldn't be better! Thank you!🤗
Indeed I always look at it when I plan doesnt come to be Ohh well lets continue on and make the most of it
That's how it always is, move forward, the past is in the past. Have a great day!
Hello!
This tour is fantastic, like all the ones you bring us. But this one, driven by the power of poetry, captivates me even more, and I'm grateful for that!
I'm not sure if this is where I should put my participation link. I'll share it if it is:

Funny how fate likes to meddle with our plans... Since you were at Fort Tabor it reminded my of the military, as they say, every battle plan looks perfect on paper. But once the battle starts it all falls apart in the chaos..
Beautiful sunrise rise shots as always, you sure live in a great place for those shots. Nicely done!
OHh yeah from my time in the military I saw plans fall apart so many times, some got frustrated by that, I always looked on it as good, its too easy when everythign goes to plan, when somethign goes wrong you have to adapt and improvise, and those are good things to practice as well
Yes I am lucky to have some beautiful spot to visit here
Just the perfect title for all you went through trying to get to those beaches. Anyways am loving the photos from Fort Taber, that sunrise looks amazing as ever. Nice place to walk.
Thank you for sharing and do keep enjoying your week :}

Have a great day
