Wednesday Walk at the Zoo
Wednesday Walk at the Zoo
This post if for Wednesday walk challenge
Any questions about the challenge read the guide at the Bottom of the post ;)
This is a way back walk from the end of summer, perhaps early fall, when I took an afternoon stroll around Buttonwood Park Zoo, clearly not from today ( as I prepare this draft a week in advance0 as right now we have a good covering of snow and ice all around, we probably got around a foot of snow yesterday.
I did get my hopes up that winter was going to let go a few days ago when we had a couple of days in the low 40s. but winter came back strong with the snow and the temps bene below freezing at max for the last few days and it looks to stay the same for the next week, so no new walks for me for at least a week or so, so sharing photos from walks last year
Buttonwood Park Zoo, which is located in Buttonwood park here in New Bedford, Massachusetts, It was opened in 1894, it is the third-oldest zoo in New England and the 12th-oldest zoo in the United States. it covers about 7 acres (2.8 ha) so isnt that big but is still a charming zoo, the zoo is owned and operated by the City of New Bedford, with the support of the Buttonwood Park Zoological Society. It is located on part of the Buttonwood Park Historic District, and federally designated on the National Register of Historic Places.
The zoo is home to more 250 different animals made up of more than 80 different species of animals, including many that are rare and endangered.
On my visits there i have spokent o a few of the staff and i got the impression they truly care for and look after all the animals so even though it is small and I wish the animals had more space I am glad they are well cared for
but today I will focus on some of the layout of the zoo and not the animals
Starting with this spot setup to welcome the pollinators

and if you go there with your kids or grandkids and want to let them run around and have fun while you take a breather there is a few spots you can sit and relax.

Wednesday Walk is a challenge started by me, the idea is to get out for a short walk and get some shots of what you can see within a short distance of your home office or wherever you start. And this is my entry for this week, but first, let me explain the challenge.
This is my post for the Wednesday Walk challenge hosted by myself, let me first explain the guidelines
Try and get out once a week for a short walk, can be from your office, home or anywhere really and walk for a few blocks or a few minutes looking for things to get shots of.
Your walk does not have to be on a Wednesday I just ask if possible to share your walk photos on a Wednesday.
Try and get a few shots not just one
Add a bit of a write up about where you walked
Just one Wednesday Walk tagged post a week
You can look for anything in general or decide on one subject you want to get shots off.
Make a point of looking around and up and see what you can find to get shots of that otherwise you may miss
Do a post with the shots you get on a Wednesday and tag it with #wednesdaywalk, also if you happen to join, please leave a link to your post in a comment on this post and I will try and visit them all, especially if its not one of the first 5 tags or I may miss seeing it .
Following me and re-Hiving the post so more see it would be appreciated but isn't a rule just a suggestion.
I am not strict on these rules and hence why they are called guidelines and not rules
I will try and visit, and upvote all who take part in the Wednesday Walk.
I hope a few of you may find this an interesting challenge and decide to join in.
unless stated otherwise all photos used in my posts are taken and owned by myself, if you wish to use any of my images please contact me.

I love the wildflower areas that they just let grow. We are supposed to get more snow the end of this week. It feels like it has just been a constant occurrence for us. I'd much rather have one big dump then done for a bit.
Yeah they do a greta job with the zoo, its small but so well done
Snow here this weekend as well possibly not to much, but yeah I am the sam eone good fall woud have bene enough
Maybe once we get into February things will start to take a turn for us!

I've been keeping a close eye on the weather up north, and wow, the low temperatures are surprising. It's nice that you're finding comfort in writing about these warmer days, and I hope you can enjoy them again soon when winter is over. Thanks for sharing, happy to stop by and say hello after a while...
Winter is holding on, but hopefulyl not for too much longer
Have a great day
What a beautiful design for that little zoo, with only 7 acres they make it look deceptively bigger. That looks like a perfect place to get in the those steps come late spring and into summer.
Those were some nice shots, I really like the third and fourth ones. Such gorgeous scenery! I hope you're feeling strong enough to get out when it warms up, is the shoulder feeling better?
Thanks kindly your support is appreciated
they do a great job with the grounds indeed making it feel bigger than it is
Shoulder is better still twinges from time to time, but not enough to slow me down once it warms up :)
Have a great day
