[ENG/ESP] A Wednesday of faces that sing stories in Margarita.
Happy Wednesday, everyone! I wish you all an excellent day filled with good energy and special moments. As I do every week, I enthusiastically join @tattoodjay's initiative to share a little bit of my Wednesday journey with you. This time, I bring you an experience that combines work, family, art, and tradition.
My day started very early. As I've told you before, we're immersed in a project that has us very motivated and excited. It's a collaboration with the Sunsol Unik hotel, where we're contributing ideas and working on improvements to their facilities. The best part of the day was that, on this occasion, our son joined the team. His participation filled us with joy and gave us an extra boost of motivation. Seeing him involved, contributing, and sharing with us was truly special.

Como cada semana, me uno con mucho entusiasmo a la iniciativa de @tattoodjay para compartirles un pedacito de mi recorrido de miércoles. Esta vez, les traigo una experiencia que mezcla trabajo, familia, arte y tradición.
Mi jornada comenzó desde bien temprano. Como ya les he contado en otras ocasiones, estamos inmersos en un proyecto que nos tiene muy motivados y llenos de ilusión. Se trata de una colaboración con el hotel Sunsol Unik, donde estamos aportando ideas y trabajando en mejoras para sus instalaciones. Lo más bonito de esta jornada fue que, en esta ocasión, se unió nuestro hijo al equipo. Su participación nos llenó de alegría y nos dio un impulso extra de motivación. Verlo involucrado, aportando y compartiendo con nosotros, fue realmente especial.
From the early hours of the morning, the hotel team welcomed us with open arms. We toured the areas under construction, observing every detail, suggesting improvements, and visualizing how to make each space look its best. It was a productive and enriching day, where every step we took brought us closer to the vision we have for this project.
Desde las primeras horas de la mañana, el equipo del hotel nos recibió con los brazos abiertos. Estuvimos recorriendo las áreas en obra gris, observando cada detalle, sugiriendo mejoras y visualizando cómo lograr que cada espacio quede lo mejor posible. Fue una jornada productiva y enriquecedora, donde cada paso que dimos nos acercó más a la visión que tenemos para este proyecto.
At the end of the day's work, we decided to treat ourselves. We went to a nearby place where they sell spectacular chichas. These delicacies are loaded with plenty of condensed milk and a generous sprinkling of cinnamon. Truly wonderful! It was just what we needed to celebrate the day's progress and toast everything we have achieved so far.
Al finalizar el trabajo del día, decidimos darnos un pequeño gusto. Fuimos a un lugar cercano donde venden unas chichas espectaculares. Estas delicias vienen cargadas con abundante leche condensada y un toque generoso de canela. ¡Una verdadera maravilla! Era justo lo que necesitábamos para celebrar los avances del día y brindar por todo lo que hemos logrado hasta ahora.
With happy hearts, we dropped Luis off at his house and then headed to ours. Our son had to meet up with a friend to work on a project, so my husband and I, with no urgent plans, decided to take advantage of the free time. I remembered that a friend had told me about a new mural at the Sambil shopping mall, a tribute to the musical group “Rostros de Sol y Sereno,” and we didn't hesitate to go see it.
The sun had not yet set, so during the trip we were able to enjoy beautiful landscapes, both natural and urban. It was a peaceful, unhurried ride that allowed us to reconnect with our surroundings and with ourselves.
Con el corazón contento, dejamos a Luis en su casa y luego nos dirigimos a la nuestra. Nuestro hijo tenía que reunirse con un amigo para trabajar en un proyecto, así que mi esposo y yo, sin planes urgentes, decidimos aprovechar el tiempo libre. Recordé que una amiga me había comentado sobre un mural nuevo en el centro comercial Sambil, un homenaje al grupo musical "Rostros de Sol y Sereno", y no dudamos en ir a verlo.
El sol aún no se había ocultado, así que durante el trayecto pudimos disfrutar de paisajes hermosos, tanto naturales como urbanos. Fue un paseo tranquilo, sin apuros, que nos permitió reconectar con el entorno y con nosotros mismos.
When we arrived at the shopping center, we walked calmly until we found the wall where the photographs of the honored group were displayed.
Let me tell you a little about them: “Rostros de Sol y Sereno” is a group made up of senior citizens, all of Guaiquerí descent. They perform traditional songs from the island of Margarita, keeping alive an invaluable cultural heritage. This initiative was started by self-taught singer-songwriter Pedro José Silva González, who has been writing poetry since he was very young without having any formal training in the field. His passion for music and culture led him to form this group, which today is a symbol of identity and tradition.
Al llegar al centro comercial, caminamos con calma hasta encontrar la pared donde se exhiben las fotografías del grupo homenajeado.
Déjenme contarles un poco sobre ellos: "Rostros de Sol y Sereno" es una agrupación conformada por personas de la tercera edad, todas de ascendencia Guaiquerí. Interpretan canciones tradicionales de la isla de Margarita, manteniendo viva una herencia cultural invaluable. Esta iniciativa nace del cantautor autodidacta Pedro José Silva González, quien desde muy joven ha escrito poesía sin haber cursado estudios formales en el área. Su pasión por la música y la cultura lo llevó a formar este grupo, que hoy es símbolo de identidad y tradición.
The exhibition is beautifully arranged, with each photograph telling a story. The faces of the subjects reflect wisdom, pride, and a deep connection to their roots. I was deeply moved to see how art can capture the essence of a community and convey it so powerfully.
La exposición está bellamente ubicadas, cada fotografía transmite una historia. Los rostros de los integrantes reflejan sabiduría, orgullo y una conexión profunda con sus raíces. Me conmovió mucho ver cómo el arte puede capturar la esencia de una comunidad y transmitirla con tanta fuerza.

Hi, it's impressive that you shared so many of your Wednesday Portraits at Margarita, photos full of stories, full of expressions and joyful life, a beautiful day, I wanted to ask, what are the names of those tall trees? At first glance they look like date palms?
Palm trees are abundant on the island, but the plant you're referring to is the date palm, which also thrives here due to the hot climate. We don't have traditional seasons—only a rainy period and a dry one. And of course, there are many beaches that add to the beauty of the landscape.
