A Wednesday Walk in Trempealeu
My #wednesdwaywalk, as inspired by @tattoodjay.
For this week's #wednesdaywalk, I stopped by the small town of Trempealeau, Wisconsin, to visit the mighty Mississippi River again. The town itself is quite quaint; it's a very historic town and has seen a lot of river history over the years. We love coming up here to eat at the historic Trempealeau Hotel on the weekends but today, I wanted to check out the river. So I parked the car and took a few snapshots of the town...
And finally made my way to the river. There is a pair of Canadian Pacific train tracks between the town and the river, so I walked over the tracks (mindful of any oncoming trains, of course), and grabbed some photos of the river, the setting sun, clouds, and Wisconsin...
The weather was perfect yet again. A little bit too perfect for February in Wisconsin, but what's new this winter? As you stand in this area, it's easy to get lost in the history here. Mark Twain passed by this place before the Civil War. Early European fur traders passed by this spot. Native American civilizations utilized this spot for thousands of years...and here I am earlier today, standing in these same spots others have in my Crocs and taking photos. What an experience!
Thanks for checking out my #wednesdaywalk share. I'm happy to have been able to make this work today, as I needed to get another walk for Hive. I hope everyone else had a wonderful Wednesday too!
