Dreaming Big in the Morning Walk .:. Sendero de Calalga a Bassetes, Calp

avatar

With this post, I have covered the last third of Calp's coastline, so if you are planning to come here for holidays (or to live), you now have a clear picture of how it looks and what you can expect...

In the beginning, I skipped just a short part of the coast with a small port and a beach that is closest to the Morro de Toix, which is a huge cliff that separates Altea and Calpe... So, we begin this "coastal tour/walk" from the Cala La Manzanera and Playa del Arenal - Bol, continued through another big sandy beach, Playa de la Fossa, Calp, to reach the last part of this great town... To be honest, I didn't like Calp (as I explained in previous posts), but after these 3 walks, I like it a lot!

01.jpg

I will start today's #WednedsayWalk at the point where I have finished the last one... At the end of the sandy beach *Playa de la Fossa", the next is the small beach named Playa de Calalga... As I was there around 9 AM, it was still empty, but on my way back, 2 hours later, there were maybe 8-10 people... As it is a small beach, I doubt that it's can be a lot more people there... Having a huge sandy beach on just a 3-4 minute walk, here you can see people who seek peaceful sunbathing and a natural environment...

02.jpg

This is the look from the other side... Behind those trees is the big sandy beach...

03.jpg

During the summer, some people are controlling the water quality on every beach, but as I was here a few weeks ago, the day that says the water is excellent is from last year... As there are no big ports or any industry near, I suppose that there is no reason to be different this year...

04.jpg

05.jpg

After this point, things are getting more interesting... :) After visiting this part, I fell in love with this particular "urbanization" and it would be great to live there, but... As those are all houses, situated in great locations, I suppose that most of the real estate there is, or close to a million USD, or over... So, no way... At least until HIVE doesn't go to $10... 😂

06.jpg

It's great that they have preserved these narrow trails on the "edge" of the cliffs as you could see in my first post from Calp... As you can see from the image, this route is around 1 km long and it goes until the Bassetes port, which is the first point of the next town municipality, Benissa...

07.jpg

08.jpg

09.jpg

You gotta like these "flower tunnels", and to be honest, I like them not just because they are beautiful, but also because they were providing shade as it was already very hot in the morning...

10.jpg

As the terrain isn't plain, there are a few stairways up and a few down...

11.jpg

I forgot to take a photo on my left side, where was the small backdoor of the near house... So, if you live there, you got up in the morning, and you have a "private beach" on your doorstep! It's not literally private, but not many people know that this beach exist at all!

12.jpg

13.jpg

But still, you always have some pricks who like to destroy useful things like this billboard with information about the beach... It is called Cala del Mallorqui, it is only 80m long, and suitable for snorkeling and fishing...

14.jpg

15.jpg

16.jpg

As this beach is "semi-wild", you have to be cautious with rocks and that's why they put these yellow barriers that you can see in this photo... But, that doesn't mean that every day a rock falls from the cliff... lol... Speaking of wild beaches, which one do you like more... Sandy beaches that are overcrowded, but cleaned and "maintained" or wild beaches that are 100% natural? My vote is always the second choice!

17.jpg

18.jpg

19.jpg

This part isn't a beach, but it is possible to go closer to the water and I think that I was some fisherman on the way back...

20.jpg

21.jpg

A beautifully built wall for those who like this type of architecture... I suppose that they deliberately leave spaces between blocks to avoid additional water pressure after the rains...

22.jpg

Backyard door that leads to paradise... hehehe...

23.jpg

This part looks great from above, but it's very hard to go down without hiking equipment... It is surrounded by high cliffs from both sides, but I suppose that people are coming here, from the sea, by boats...

24.jpg

25.jpg

26.jpg

And here we are, at the end of our today's walk (in one direction, still have to go back 😃)... The small 100m beach named Cala les Bassetes...

27.jpg

28.jpg

29.jpg

The same billboard we saw on the other side of the route... Luckily, this one is new and readable... I hope it will stay like that...

30.jpg

As I have seen, this port is mostly used for water sports... People were preparing for diving...

31.jpg

32.jpg

I had to take a photo of this abandoned house (at least I think it is abandoned, but I could be wrong)... This garage door is 3 meters from the sea, so I have no idea why it is there at all... The only reasonable answer would be that the sea level was lower in the past and there were places to go there by car... Today, you can go there only on foot, and I suppose in the case of bad weather, you can't get there at all, as of the big waves...

33.jpg

It's time to go back and the last photo of my "dream house" (fingers crossed for HIVE at $10, or maybe more! 😃)... For this one, I think I would need to see HIVE at $100 and not just $10... 🤣

34.jpg

Calp was a small fishing village in the past, but in the last 40-50 years it got a lot of these skyscrapers that are opposite to the rest of the photos from this walk...

35.jpg

After a long walk, it was time to hide in the shade and take a sip of the coffee to relax...

Thank you for your time,

~ph~

Such a wonderful coastal walk @ph1102 👋🏻😊 such a beautiful views.
I love wandering the calas… it’s great when you can walk a long bit along them. See some clips too.
Great captures.

Thank you! I like small beaches and they are always more attractive to me than those big ones with thousands of people laying one over another...

Oh… let’s hope for Hive to go that high… maybe you get your dream house then. 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 fingers crossed.

Hehehehe... It would be great to see HIVE in those highs, but my wishes are more like dreams than reality... But, we never know... lol...

Thanks for taking us on this tour. I prefer non-sandy beaches generally, but raw or maintained, I could tackle both. Fingers crossed for $100 Hive and you can get your crib!

What a cool walk (in the shade anyway) and so very Spanish.
Little pricks everywhere that destroy things, how I would love to destroy them!

Wet and wild wins it for me, so yeah the natural beach over a crowded sandy beach. Sandy beaches are great in the winter though when not full of people!

That was a great third part and I love how you could walk along the cliffs so easily so to speak.

Sandy beaches are great in the winter though when not full of people!

You made a point there! I do remember going to Benidorm in late autumn when the beach is almost empty... When you can see through water... even there... which is impossible to do during the summer in Benidorm... On the other side, you can enjoy that every time on a small beach...

That was a great third part and I love how you could walk along the cliffs so easily so to speak.

I can't believe that I discovered that path (the first post), by accident... 😃 I was watching some documentaries about this area and I know that some other places have something similar... Homework for the future... To find them and create a memory... :)

I recognized Ubanizacion Los Pinos. haha! But we've never been to this beach area because we are so dependent on a car and the kids are with us. So we always go to the wide sandy area with crowds of people. For the kids' safety. :D

Hehehe... Yeah, it's difficult with kids... They ask for other kids, and more space... While, we would like to find the most peaceful place where nobody will bother us and where you can enjoy in great, "semi-wild" nature... 😃

Yeah, if there were no kids, we prefer the wild area as it has a good snorkeling area. and there's a chance to see another cool sea creature aside from the fish. hehe

The photos are beautiful, and it sounds like you had a great time exploring the area.

I'm glad you found some hidden gems along the way, like the Cala del Mallorqui beach and the abandoned house. It's always fun to find places that most people don't know about.

I also like the way you interspersed your photos with some interesting facts about the area. For example, I didn't know that Calp was once a small fishing village. It's interesting to see how it's changed over the years.

Most of the places in this area were small fishing villages or orange plantations... With the tourist bubble, all these places grew into cities and towns, changing the landscape of this part...

Huh... that sucks 😯
We went to Portugal by car in January and when we were close to Malaga, my wife got sick... Luckily, she didn't finish in the hospital, but it was a close call... so, maybe they have some "bad vibes" there... 😃

What is most interesting of all is that I usually don't drink coffee at all... lol... But, in this case, and in the case of the previous 2 walks, I did it... And I think that I didn't drink more than 5-6 coffees in total this year... 😂
