Wednesday Walks: My Midweek Reset
Hello everyone, it’s Wednesday again, and that means Wednesday Walk energy is back. Honestly, I can say this clearly: this community gave my walking habit a real rhythm. Before, I used to walk “when I feel like it.” Now I walk much more regularly—almost three times a week. And it motivates me so much.

Walking is not just moving my body. It helps my mind too. I feel lighter after a walk, like my thoughts have more space. Weekdays are especially nice for walking because the city feels more “real.” People are going to work, kids are going to school, and you can feel the daily life around you.

This walk was actually on Friday, not Wednesday. But it still felt like a Wednesday Walk because it had that same calm, reflective vibe. Where I live, schools were about to start the two-week winter break. It was report card day, so the streets were busy. I walked during school drop-off time, so I saw many parents and children. The kids were wearing normal clothes, not uniforms, and you could see the excitement on their faces. Two weeks of rest! No early mornings! For kids, that is pure happiness.

For parents—especially mothers—I imagine it’s a very different story. Two weeks at home with children is not always “rest.” It’s work. It’s planning, cooking, cleaning, keeping everyone busy, and trying to protect your own energy. I don’t live that reality, so I can’t fully understand it, but I can respect it. Parenting looks like love, but also like serious effort.

During my walk, I noticed something that stayed in my mind: a cotton candy seller. He was standing near the road with a huge bunch of pink cotton candy. I think he chose that spot because it was a perfect moment—kids, families, and a special school day. It looked like a smart idea.

But when I came back later, I saw him again… and then I saw him turning back after just a few minutes. He looked like he had not sold anything. Maybe the school didn’t allow him inside. Maybe they didn’t want street sellers near the gate for safety reasons, or maybe there was someone else selling snacks inside. I don’t know the reason, but I felt sad for him. He carried all that cotton candy with hope. I really hope he sold them somewhere else later.

My walk was around 40 minutes because I had to go somewhere after. Still, it was enough to refresh me. I didn’t eat breakfast before, so after walking I went to a nearby bakery and bought fresh bread. Simple moments like this make me happy. A short walk, cool air, fresh bread—small things, but they feel big.

This time, I walked with music. I chose calm songs, and one song gave me a special mood: “Running Up That Hill” (the famous one from Stranger Things). It feels powerful and emotional at the same time. Listening to it while walking is strangely satisfying, like your walk becomes a movie scene. I really recommend trying it on your next walk.
That’s my midweek-style Friday walk. A little busy, a little emotional, and very refreshing.
