#Wednesday Walk - The Fresh Beginning of a New Day on the East Coast of South Africa
This post is for the #wednesdaywalk challenge and the #makemesmile challenge collaboration. This collaboration initially took place once a month, but due to its popularity, @tattoodjay (of the #wednesdaywalk) and @elizacheng (of #makemesmile) decided to make it a weekly thing.
If you want to know more about the rules, visit this week's post by @tattoodjay where you will find all the rules at the bottom of his post after you've enjoyed his beautiful photos from his walk.
Over the past two weeks I shared some photos I took on the beach in Umhlanga. The first post was during the blue hour, just before sunrise. Last week's post was during sunrise. Today I will finish this series with some shots I took just after sunrise.
Let's start with some pools between the rocks, reflecting the bright yellow colour of the early morning sun.
The rising sun...with a rocky scene in the foreground.

Although it was still early morning hours, the life guards were on duty and they have already patrolled the beach on their quad-bike.

I don't know if you would see it the same way, but when we spotted this rock, both my wife and I felt that it made us think of a lion lying down, also admiring the sunrise.
I'll end today's post with some shots of the Whalebone Pier...
First, from a distance, looking at the pier over a rocky area, with the bright early-morning sun shining from the east.
Coming a little closer, with the pier reaching out over the surf and some people on the pier enjoying the sunrise.
And, in the last two photos, trying to capture the reflection of the rising sun on the water from below the pier, but without getting the bright sun directly into my lens.
And that's it for today, folks.
Thank you for reading my post! I do appreciate it!

It's beautiful how the sand changes texture and v=becomes more yellow, the further up the East Coast you go. and of course, the water gets so much warmer! On the East side of the Cape, you get treated to incredible sunrises, while for us on the west coast, we are blessed with beautiful sunsets but freezing water, that surprisingly warms up in the winter, due to an interesting current that runs through at the same time of year. But for al it's beauty, you have to be super brave to get into the water! If you happen to work in the CBD though, you get the best if both worlds with stunning sunrises over the flamingo vlei on the West Coast road.
That bridge looks very familiar. Were these shots taken in PE?

Thank you so very much @friendlymoose and @topcomment ! It feels lovely to be appreciated!
Yes, that is true indeed about the sand becoming more yellow as you start moving up along the east coast! We were in Cape Town last December and we were amazed by the white sand you guys have on your beaches!
Yes, we get the sunrises while you get the sunsets. That is why I try to get some sun rises instead of sunsets here by us. I do get some shots during sunsets, but especially when at a beach, I then rather try to focus on the late afternoon light rather that the sunset itself.
Wow! Those people working in the CBD are lucky!
These shots in my posts were taken on the Beach in Umhlanga, just north of Durban. It is the Whalebone Pier that you see in my photos. It's a popular attraction for the tourists.

Lovely photos! Nice to see the continuation of last week's before sunrise adventure. It's always great to be able to enjoy the early morning sun, esp. with such a lovely view of the harbor. Funny, I also see the lion you referred to back there 😆 thank you for sharing such beautiful photos all the time. An advance happy weekend...
