Let's walk with me around Vi Ro Ngheo village

Hi dear Hivers in Wednesday Walk, long time no see. First, I want to say thank you to @tattoodjay for his devotion to run this wonderful community. And to come back with the community today, I would like to invite you for a walk with me around Vi Ro Ngheo village.

Vi Ro Ngheo village is a remote village of Kon Plong district. It is home to Xo Dang ethnic minority. It still keep its pristine beauty, then it's always a good experience to take a walk around the village.

Small roads will lead us to different beautiful corners of the village. The thing I like most about these roads is that they are small. And normally there are wooden fences on the both sides of the roads. These roads are made for walk, bycicles or motorbikes, not for cars, because there is no car in the village.

We can easily find many small houses around the village. Most of them are houses built on stilts. That is a custom of the village to protect themselves from wild animal, because the village is surrounded by mountains and forests.

Below are the rice houses. After harvesting the rice, the villagers will store their rice in these rice houses. The rice houses are built seperately from the main house. You may wonder why, right? The reason is that the main house is made from wood, then the villagers worry that in the bad case, if their house is on fire, the rice will also burn. In that case, they don't have food. There is one characteristic feature to know about this is that they normally have a fire stove in the middle of the house.

This wooden wheels will prevent the rats from climbing up and sneaking into the rice houses.

The joy of the children here is simple. They are free to run around the village and play simple games.

I met some children who were on the way home from school. There is a primary school right in the village. But because the parents often go out to work all day, then children bring food to the school and are at the school the whole day. They will go back to their home in the late afternoon.

Raising buffalo is one of the main job in the village. We can see many buffalos around the village. Especially, there are some white buffalos in the village. The villagers believe that white buffalos are lucky animals.

Fire stove plays a very important role in their culture and life. The villagers have their fire stove in the middle of the house. People said that there are two indispensable things in their house, which are firewood and fire stove. There are always firewood in their house, and they will refill the new firewood before the run out of the old ones. The fire stove helps to keep the house warm during cold winter.

And the last thing I would like to introduce to you today is a special plant, which we can see a lot around the village. It is called "la ngon" in Vietnamese. This plant is a type of shrub with small, green leaves and yellow flowers. Despite of their beauty, they are deadly poisonouse plants. So if you have chance to visit the village, stay away from 'la ngon' plant.

Hi Jane, I think the reason why the village looks quite clean is because it's located in a remote region, then there is not much trash which produced from industry.

Vi Ro Ngheo village is amazing especially the hilly villages look amazing and the nature is very beautiful. Moreover, the behavior of people in such regions and their houses or the nature there is really amazing. Last year I had such an experience because of living in a hilly area. You have photographed a beautiful village scene.

Hi @astrolabio
Yes, you're right. It's quite cold over there now, because it's located in a mountain which is over 1200m over the sea level.

The village life has become much better than the city life and the way we see that the people living in the village have much better health and it is refreshing to see all these natural sights.
