Wednesday Walk - The Weekend, Movies & Food!

Blue Minimalist Summer Vacation Photo Collage.png

It started a beautiful day. It was raining and the clouds were putting on quite the show with their beauty. I had stepped out for some air as the rain had just stopped and the drizzle was light.

We have a lot of palm trees. Or is that a coconut tree? I think coconut. This reminds me that I haven’t had those in a while.

My sister and I were craving Shawarma. We thought now was the best time to stretch our legs. We did not plan to walk all the way to the place though, way too far. We did plan to walk half of it. Our walks are something I always look forward to because it is never boring and always filled with delight.

The first thing that caught our attention was this!

IMG_9831.jpeg

No, not the corn but what is tied to the corn. Do you see it?

IMG_9829.jpeg

That is apparently a charm to ward off thieves. I told my sister that it may just be for show and has no effect. We laughed it off and continued walking, talking about good looking men and temporary crushes. Then we took a bike to Stingo’s. I forgot to take pictures as I was preoccupied with something else.

We got the Jumbo size and then I mentioned we go look for something else for Mom as she isn’t a fan of shawarma. Besides, she is at the age where such things should be totally eliminated from her consumption.

IMG_9834.jpeg

So, we walked a bit further, just a few steps and I came across the Fruit Cafe that sold fruit & vegetable salads, parfaits, smoothies, fruit juice, and some other stuff on the menu I can’t remember.

IMG_9835.jpeg

I ordered a plate of fruit salad to go and proceeded to take a few pictures while we waited. I liked the coziness of it all. It was so simple, maybe a little too simple for my tastes.

As an afterthought, we dropped by the Driving School close by for enquiries. I did say I would learn to drive and I need to start early. Using public transportation, especially at night, seems to spike my anxiety. The recklessness of drivers and the unpredictability of the riders gets to me most times. Hence, we make plans for a car. I don’t think I can ever have peace of mind being driven by someone who is clearly high on weed.

The Driving School has three different kinds of programs but all programs begin with a simulation class for three days. Each program differs by N10,000 (around $7) starting with N64,000 ($42). The least program is 7 days and the max is 21 days. Depending on the program you wish to take, the money will differ.

I will go for the three weeks program as it includes learning both manual and automatic. The lecture and practical days are also something I believe I can handle with my workload.

By the time we left the Driving school centre, it was sunset. My cousin pointed out that Shawarma wasn’t enough to hold us and we should probably get some real food. Mom was going for a Vigil that night and hence, we downloaded some horror movies for entertainment the previous day and bought some popcorn on the way home.

IMG_9970.jpeg

After much back and forth, we decided to go try some street food we keep seeing on our evening strolls. We got spaghetti and suya.

IMG_9976.jpeg

IMG_9967.jpeg

The Suya was well seasoned and soft, and the spaghetti well cooked. It exceeded my expectations. The night was also alive with people and music.

IMG_9979.jpeg

It was the weekend, thus, people were out with their lovers or family. My sister suggested that we get roasted corn for Mom as she had mentioned she was craving it.

The night ended on a spectacular note as we finished watching Exhuma for the second time. It was quite a fun day. What was yours like?

I have not had such fun in a while, so busy with lots of things, plus I do not have my family around to vibe with. I enjoyed reading through your post; and I agree with you, the red clothes tied to the corn farm are most likely no real charm.

I’m sorry you’ve been busy. That’s how life gets. Very busy. I just force myself out to avoid depression. Hehe.

Nothing compares with spending time with your sister. I have a twin and despite not having the best relationship in recent years, nothing compares with the feeling we have when we meet each other and spend time together.

That’s it! Nothing beats that. Especially when we just play and talk on for hours. It’s also one of the reasons I look forward to a car. Being on the road with someone you care about is like the best best thing! Especially when you take stops to get a clear view of the route. Do you do things like this? Drive around with people you care about?

I always enjoy those random walks with my friends or siblings too because it’s where all the funniest and most random conversations happen

Indeed! That’s when we just let ourselves go. My sister mentioned maybe we should run a comedy about these things 😂

A fun ride with good food is always necessary to de-stress. Good luck taking driving lessons, a car is an excellent option to have new adventures.

Yessss! Exactly! I can just imagine it. I love road trips. I can have mini ones with my sister. How cool would that be? Maybe stop by a scenic route for a quick picnic. Hahaha. Have you done something like that before?
