Seaside Walk

Hi fellow Hiveians,

Today I wanted to share a few photos from a recent seaside walk that we took!

Seaside Walk

The little man and I took a nice trip to the beach the other day, and he showed me one of the paths that he took one day with my wife when they came here without me. It was a nice little nook, that's for sure!

The beach area here that we went to is one that we enjoy quite a bit because it's far less crowded than other beaches. A lot of it has to do with it being fairly rocky which certainly doesn't help people who like to be on the beach to lay on the sand. We are more active people than others, so we don't mind having a rocky beach where we can walk around, find critters and sea glass and stuff.

After turning the corner, you start to see the ocean popping out! This trail was thankfully not too long, so we didn't have to deal with an extensive walk before getting to the final destination. The little man was fully familiar with the area, so he darted off to get to the area we were going to be.

One thing we didn't notice until we were leaving was that on both sides of us were wild raspberries! That was a wonderful find because we were walking and snacking as we were leaving, grabbing a few delicious morsels every few feet. I love finding random things like that, really makes the time special! We also know that for next year to come a little earlier in the season and grab some delicious berries that are fresher.

The beauty of the area was wonderful! This area has a lot of rocks, which I ultimately enjoy, but it's also got a substantial amount of seaweed. That's not always the best because it hides a lot of the beauty but that's okay. We were mulling around the area, turning over rocks trying to find some crabs. Exploring in the seaweed to see if that hid any treasures like starfish, sea urchins or others. I think the good thing about this particular spot is that it's very clean. There was no trash except for what washed up from the tides and that was really nice to see.

There tends to be an unfortunate amount of trash that accumulates in some of these beach areas. Either by accident where the wind takes something and sends it flying or people who are just a bunch of assholes and fucking throw trash out, not caring about the damage it causes the environment and wildlife. I have been bringing bags with us when we go to the beach lately so that I can pick up the bullshit that people leave behind.

I think one of the issues we have these days is that somebody always expects somebody else to do something. There is a lack of desire to do something yourself and that's a shame. I make sure to try and be a doer whenever possible!

We did ultimately enjoy the beach trip though, not just because there wasn't a lot of trash. I usually take my son fishing or other things but we don't normally go to the beach without my wife. She wasn't feeling well this time and stayed behind, so we were meandering in that direction making some stops here and there while we were going and ultimately decided that the beach is where we wanted to end up. We had a lot of fun skipping rocks and finding sea glass, so it was an overall great few hours along a shoreline trail!

The last time I went to a seaside was before the pandemic happened. I wish I could go sometime soon. Just walking at a nice beach with fine white sand or sitting under a beach umbrella sipping cold fruit juice while reading a book would be luxury for me. 😎

Sounds like a great time with the kiddo. In fact it sounds like a perfect time if you ask me. Nothing like a little critter hunting and raspberry eating.

Hell yeah it was a great time, and very often the types of things my son likes to do instead of video games and crap. I take whatever time out of my day to indulge him in these things!

The view is really nice and it’s like you’re making me have something for rocky beaches
Almost all the beaches here are sandy though. Haven’t experienced a rocky one

Rocky beaches are a lot different! Sandy ones are nice but rocky ones are a lot more fun for doing stuff!

Yeah we caught a few crabs but that wasn't the main focus of the trip to the beach for this one. It was definitely a beautiful spot though!

What's sea glass?

Basically broken glass bottles but the ocean constantly moves them with the tides and they become smooth instead of sharp. It’s pretty cool stuff! You should check out my post from today, it’s got a few photos of sea glass from the little man!
