HOT AFTERNOON IN THE MARINA
Marina Polesana is a new recreational marina on the outskirts of Pula. It was opened to the public on the 12th of April 2022.
The place was a military base from the 19th century to the late 90' of the 20th century. It started as a part of the large Austrian and Austo-Hungarian naval base and coastal fortification, it continued as the base and training center of Yugoslavia, and finally, it finished its military history in Croatia.
After two decades of quiet abandonment, it became a fancy place for elegant yachts, speedboats, and tourists. Besides the blue of the sky and the sea ...
... white is the prevalent color here on a sunny summer day like the one shown in this post.
I live in Medulin, a small seaside town about ten kilometers from Pula, so this marina isn't very far for me.
Today I had to buy a few things in the city, so after a quick shopping, I decided to take a walk by the sea. In this photograph, you can see the imposing structures ...
... of an oil platform that is being built in the shipyard across the bay.
The tourism-oriented marina has a good view of the heavily industrialized part of the port.
Here you can see the big cargo ship under construction in the same shipyard, not far from the oil platform.
This beautiful red buoy ...
... was floating near the long pier with many sailing boats.
The reflections on the water were constantly changing. While I was observing the hypnotic patterns on the surface of the sea ...
... people were passing up & down the pier ...
... in front of my camera.
Some of those complete strangers ...
... ended up having a small role in this post.
At one point, while walking along another pier ...
... I came across a pretty big speedboat for sale. Didn't have enough money so I skipped the opportunity.
The outboard motors of that boat looked pretty strong.
The shipyard isn't the only thing that can be seen from the Marina Polesana.
You can also take a look at the most iconic building in the city ...
... the Roman amphitheater, built between the years 27 BC and 68 AD.
After a couple of minutes of observing that well-preserved jewel of ancient architecture through the zoom of my camera ...
... my attention got caught by the textures on the surface of the sea. In the following GIF ...
... you can see the blue in motion.
At one point ...
... while I was observing the scenery ...
... two men started spreading the sail ...
... on one of the many boats moored in the marina.
People in action always look interesting in photographs ...
... so I followed the process for a minute or two ...
... and I took a few photographs ...
... in that short period of time.
After this scene ...
... I photographed some cool cars parked not far from me.
A bit further, on the terrace of the place with a banner with the words "Sailing Academy Croatia" in front of the entrance, I noticed a group of people wearing shirts with the same inscription - Sailing Academy Croatia.
In this shot, you can see two people and a dog standing on one of the piers.
Here you can see the boat fenders on one of the boats not far from there. In the following photograph ...
... you can see another man walking along the pier.
Here you can see more outboard engines.

A military base in my country can never be as beautiful as this...lol
The place looks very good and a nice place to visit.
The pictures are lovely too
Thank you for so many beautiful images. I love puzzles, any of them would help me to transform it into one
LOoks a very nice marina and yes that oil platform is huge and imposing
Thanks for joining the Wednesday Walk :)
🙂
The blue sea looks lively with the clear blue sky reflected on it. The people passing up and down the pier are enjoying a good view of the area. Nice looking boats all around the place :)
Amazing photography. Its your photographs that make us so closer to real things. Cars color is very nice. Pretty color.
I have never seen such boats before.
Very well done.
If ever I find a Marina on Holiday, I love walking around them and wondering who owns the biggest one. You can almost smell the money coming from some of them!
So mega expensive! It must be great to be that rich !LOL !PIZZA

! I love the juxtaposition of the industrial shipyard with the beautiful yachts and sailboats. The red buoy is especially striking, and I love the way the reflections on the water change as people walk by.
Truue, that contrast makes the place more interesting for photography.
life is tastier at sea
