The wooden bridge in Rapperswil
For today I invite you to a walk over the Lake of Zurich, a stunnig wooden pedestrian bridge crossing the upper partof the lake from Rapperswil to Hurden. It is one of the longest wooden bridge in Switzerland, with a history continuum. Walking over the lake a nice experience.
The medieval bridge abou 1,4 km long, and about 1.5 m above the waterwas a piligrim and trade routecompleting the Wayof St. James.
Easy to reached in about 30 min. from Zurich, perfect for a short stroll, a peaceful route across the Lake with amazing nature, history, and modern Swiss craftsmanship.
The old bridgewas torn down in 1878 after building the stone Seedamm, leaving only the chapel standing in the water
Have awonderful day!
